Sacked by Burnley; they`ve left it late.

I`m not a Burnley fan so not really in a position to comment but that`s sad to hear. 10 years at an English club is a shift and a half most of which have been relatively successful without hosing money up the wall. You only have to look at England`s League 1 to see where they could end up now.

He’s done a great job keeping them in the top flight for so long, whilst not seeing much of that money to re-invest in players.
It's bloody tough being a legend

The job he has done is simply incredible with the budget he has.
They`ll no doubt be hoping for the new manager bounce for a few weeks (which happens less and less now IMO)
With the players and the style they play there`s not a lot of options out there - Big Sam at the ready :-)

If Burnley go down, they`d do well to have a manager in charge who has got a relatively small club out the Championship on a couple of occasions.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Take a decent rest Sean, you deserve it for over achieving for 10 years.

Usual story of unrealistic expectations. It`s amazing how directors and fans alike can`t recognise when their club is already punching above their weight.
They`ll be sorry if they end up another Charlton or Sunderland.
The timing is bizarre unless they have the next management team standing in the wings - & even then it`ll be a big challenge.

Spot on! I`d be gutted if I was a Burnley fan.

I can never get my head around decisions like this .. At least let the guy either relegate or save the club then sack him if that is what the board have decided .. but with a few games left and all to play for .. that is total madness ..

It’s the ‘new manager bounce’ thing that everybody thinks works. Even club owners it seems. It very rarely does. Dyche will get another decent job soon though. Burnley will be the losers.

I`m glad we didn`t take that approach with Davie Hay.

It`s a disgrace what`s happened there. Dodgy owners who have leveraged the buy out of the old owners (like the Glazers did at Man Utd, putting them into debt when they had none) who are trying all sorts of crazy get rich quick schemes with NFTs and Cryptocurrency so clearly just want the Premier League TV money and don`t understand how the sport works

There are always exceptions to any statistic, but alparone is correct - the new manager "bounce" is extremely rare. The previous Pars related "bounce" was probably the appointment of Jock Stein, when he won the last 6 games to avoid the drop.
Sam Allardyce is definitely no Jock Stein. He`s far more likely to splat than bounce.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Sam Allardyce blotted his copybook when he failed to keep West Brom up. Didn`t he say he was done with football management after that?
