What`s the lineup for Saturday then?
Given the effectiveness of the sub(s) on Saturday weighed up against the absolute tattie poke of a pitch at Thistle.....you could argue both Cole and Todorov / McCann deserve a start.
However i cannot see JH budging from 4-5-1 and if that is the case then O`Hara will no doubt get the nod.
Cole`s range of passing made a difference after coming on. That being said it wasn`t hard given 95% of Chalmers` passes were either five yards sideyways or backwards (not neccesarily a criticism as it was all neat & tidy.... just not that effective in a `must win` game). Reminded me of Patrick Cregg at Falkirk a wee bit except he had better players alongside in the middle of the park to compliment him.
Not sure how Cole would fare on such a heavy pitch either?
Do you play the same starting 11 or mix it up a bit?

We need to get partick on the back foot from the start so possibly Mcann and Ohara starting in another must win game

Yogi has been pretty rigid in his formation, but changing to a back 3 an front 2 and turning the game around, and with the game being so important, i think will at least be wondering about a change or two.
I think McCann will come in, either up front with O`Hara or alone. Injuries aside im not sure any other changes will happen though. Think Cole and Todorov will start on the bench.

Zero point trying to play football on that pitch, needs to be back to front.

Can`t see him changing to a back 3 from the start given that Tiffoney will probably play wide left.
I would be tempted into a 4 4 2 and go long given the likely pitch condition.

Todorov up front .. No fancy passing .. lump the ball into the Patrick half and make them play there .. Jings I should have been a tactician :-)) C.O.Y.P.

What he does could well be determined by the fitness of Donaldson?

Yogi has hinted in his pre match interview last week about maybe changing things up away from home as we haven’t been good enough. As raymie says it depends on Donaldson being fit but I’d like to see 2 up front with McCann and Ohara then bring todorov on as impact sub for last 20. Much rather see Cole start than Chalmers as he can actually pass a ball forward and with the pitch being brutal there, set pieces and free kicks could be even more vital and he has a good delivery from that

Chalmers can pass the ball forward and was probably one of our best players against Raith. Sounds like the whole team were average at best on Saturday so can we stop trying to pin the blame on certain individuals especially just now where we need every single player to contribute to try and get us out this mess.

I watched the highlights from the partick v raith game and the pitch is in far better condition than it has been.

O`Hara`s strength is his work rate. He buzzes about from one side to the other, closing down defenders with the ball. He is very mobile. The downside is that he never wins a ball in the air and the forward pass rarely sticks with him. His ball control and touch often lets him down. McCann wins the ball in the air and is a handful for defenders. His ball control and hold up play could be better. He is getting better at closing down. Todorov`s workrate has probably been his weakness but all three suffer from lack of goals. We are playing a Partick Thistle team who haven`t scored a single goal in their last 3 home games so we might only need one goal to beat them.
Yes and I would agree that the pitch condition could be a tad better now than has been suggested. I`ll nip up on my bike and have a look if you like.

Tiffoney, Bannigan and Docherty are very good players we will have to be careful of. In fact I thought Docherty was the best midfielder on the park at East End.
And of course big Graham likes a goal against us. So it`ll still be a very difficult game. I`m struggling for a prediction here 😕

The team that finished the game should have a shot.
We have nothing to lose by going route one on a tattie field.
McCann was very impressive when he came on and never lost a header in the air.
We really need someone to play off him, most likely O`Hara.
To play with a sole striker on Saturday would be criminal.

Think it would be suicidal to start with Todd, Ambrose and Edwards as our defence away from home.
Donaldson covers for Ambrose most games and Todd and Edwards would be totally ineffective down the flanks as would almost certainly be pinned back by Partick’s better than average wingers.

Well me being the tactical genius that I am , this is the winning team.
Unfortunately it will not be the starting 11.

Of course a lot depends on Donaldson being fit and Lawless being benched, ain`t going to happen.

In his pre-match interview Yogi says Donaldson has been getting treatment on his groin but he seems to be confident he`ll be available on Saturday. He might be trying to mislead the opposition of course.

Looks like we are taking a decent support with us . Our away record is a shambles but I have a feeling we’ll pull off one of our away great escapes.
