Thanks for the kind comments, have to say that today's walk was absolutely brilliant. I took a lot out of it and the feedback has been magnificent. It really is the best, being able to speak to people who do not get out too often, and seeing the interaction and social aspect of this is fab!

I will post next week's details soon. It is open to all and you are more than welcome to join us

Our walk and talk has a new venue this week. We will meet at Pittencrief Park main car park Thursday at 10.00am. We will take a gentle stroll in the Glen. We hope this will improve your mood, improve your confidence and self esteem. Give peer support. For your friends and family, this is open to all - you do not need to support the Pars to come along

I was the same BPP. Came over once a month to visit my granny and grandad, and in the summer absolutely loved going to The Glen. Particularly loved the wee cycle thingy that was like a wee high Street. Spent all day there and tried to makes friends with the locals. Just a shame, that I couldn't understand anything yon Fifers were saying.

Happy Days

I walk with the group every Friday. It’s a very friendly, welcoming group and the walks are quite short (usually an hour or just over). There’s plenty of opportunity to chat en route as the pace isn’t too demanding. We’ve been to some very nice, rural parts of the town and there’s lots of variety. I know for a fact that new folks are always welcome - Eddie, who runs the group, is always at pains to be inclusive and people are free to talk as much or as little as they like.

Great walk today with lots of good talk with lots of really lovely people.

Got to see our superb groundsmen in action. (I also have the inside scoop on the pitch pattern for tomorrow's match).

Seeing the electrician's at work. Seeing the window cleaner clean windows. Hearing the tannoy being tested. I SAID HEARING THE TANNOY BEING TESTED.

The place was really an invigorating hive of behind the scenes activity.

Huge shout out to Eddie.

Ps Scott Thomson was there too. I was about to go past him on the outside but slowed down when I heard him suggest my leg might be broken if I did!!

Nice touch today with the club making a room available for refreshments too. Some interesting discussion, a few really funny stories and an organiser that’s passionate about what he does. Absolutely brilliant group, I'm hoping to use East End Park more often when restrictions ease and the weather starts to turn.
It really is a non-judgemental group who from the beginning has been inclusive and open to all, so you don't need to support the Pars to take part.
If you have a friend or family member that you think could benefit from a gentle stroll and a wee blether or maybe you would like to understand more about mental health, mental well-being or mental illness please feel free to come along - we are a very welcoming group.

Next Friday takes us to the Glen, 10.00am meeting in the main car park.

Fresh air, a leisurely stroll and a chance to natter about anything you want.

No pressure - just a chance to chill, take a few rushed heart beats out of the day and return them to nature.

Unless of course;

Eddie takes every one onto the running track (just in case I cannot make it today)!!

Numbers growing weekly.

Every one have a great walk and talk today.

True story - The gates were locked for the running track. Unfortunately 🤣

Today was ace, everyone got soaked through to the skin but loved it!

I suppose the cup of tea, coffee and bovril would have helped

Eddie, just a comment.

It appears that these walks all take place on a Friday at 10am?

I`m wondering if it would be a good idea to have them in the evening, perhaps alternate between morning and evening, so that those who work through the day, have a chance to attend?

This is not for me to decide, far from it, but as a regular walker I would be just as happy with an evening walk, as Raymie suggests. Obviously this will be rather impractical when it’s dark by 5 p.m. , but otherwise I think it’s a good way to make the walks as accessible as possible.

Thanks for your kind words Raymie and your support in this initiative.

I'm so proud that it is really taking off, we already have groups from NHS community rehab teams and assisted living coming along with some more interested. Not withstanding our own fanbase and local community.

The major factor in not going to more accessible nights or days is my own capacity to give a further commitment. My only day off is a Friday morning, however iam in discussions with the Pars Foundation to see how it can be broadened. What I don't want is it to grow too fast too soon as there is a need for trained people to be there for the conversations in case a mental health intervention is needed.
With all things at the club voluntary work is a must.

So I'm pleased to say that discussions about a phase 2 are underway after the winter, with another project in the pipeline as well.

As the weather turns we will have the accessibility of the stadium and I'm hoping this will increase numbers during this period.

Luckily we have a assistant manager in Kenny who has always stepped up to the plate, our Skipper Scott Thomson who abliet is normally late 😁 have been brilliant. Parfection provides our own mascot in Joni, who it must be said has a cracking DAFC bandanna.

Apologies to everyone who would like to do this outwith the time frame, we are looking at it just now to see how we can improve.

Hopefully having in it hand 😁

If it was a question, always looking for more to volunteers to come forward, and training will be given Understandably commitment and capacity don't go hand in hand but give me a shout and I'm sure we can work something out.
Once again thanks for your support

Another sunny morning, all be it is probably quite fresh given the last few days. Ideal for a gently stroll, a chance to talk and enjoy the company of others.

If you have not tried this yet - give it a go.

It was a really great morning in all regards - great company, great weather, tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake, all rounded off with an interesting talk from our new ceo. In addition, there were a couple of very generous gifts for everyone as a way of celebrating the group’s first birthday. A massive thanks to all concerned, especially Eddie and Kenny - great work guys.

Even more than one dog, though not our regular dog, who was coughing too much to join us, sadly.

It was a bit impromptu, however as we meet most weeks in front of the memorial it was good to take the time as we we’re passing Sgt Hunters last resting place to pay our respects to the man and to tell his story and how it relates to the memorial at the stadium

As a pars fan of his day his story needs to be told regardless of ones viewpoint on the tragedies and futilities of war

I was at this morning’s walk, although I admit to being very sceptical an hour before meet up time - it was properly pouring down. I really wondered if I’d be the only walker there, but no, my fellow group members are made of sterner stuff. There was a good turnout as always and this is also great credit to the efforts of Eddie Martin who puts everything together. Thanks to everyone involved - it’s a lovely, relaxing and healthy way of spending an hour or so on a Friday morning. It’s a very welcoming, inclusive group and new walkers are always made to feel welcome.

It was fabulous!
The ships they’re working on are huge, I was chuffed to be up close to the blue crane I can see from my window at Garvock, and both Stella Kozma and Parfection are going to be my lookouts the night when I sneak on to the frigate in one o the docks.

I’ve never been on a ship afore!
