He could find himself sacked at Montrose too after losing that lead. If a Montrose manager is the height of our ambitions then downwards it is.

You and me both but it never likely to happen. This BOD will probably stick with clown shoes mk2 in charge next season.

Heaven forbid we we approach Dick Campbell. No common sense at the Pars for that.

Dick Campbell would definitely have made a better fist of this season.

Lots of questions now :
Will the board have the balls to sack Hughes?
Will enough cash be spent to at least have a good tilt at coming straight back up?
Would Dick Campbell still come if he was asked?
Will we even stay full time next season?

Don’t even know where to start tonight , one thing for sure is Hughes should be gone immediately

I reckon the answer to the first three is no.

Pound for pound Montrose were by far the best in the league over a whole season.

"But scored as many goals in that one game as we have scored in our last 8 away games!"

and will be sitting at home on thursday night the same as we will be. If your success measure for next season is getting to the play offs and losing in the semi from being 3-0 up then Petrie is your man.

Has never managed a full time team or signed a full time player.

Think everyone needs to calm down about Petrie! He’s a young man with a good paying job outside football, he would be mad to give that up for a job that could last 6 months before he’s sacked. And this nonsense about we can’t afford Jack Ross, the man is unemployed speak to him say that’s what’s on offer take or leave it.

A par since 1985

Jack Ross might be unemployed however as he left Hibs with close to 2 years on his contract the last thing he needs to worry about is a job at our level. He’ll be paid for another 20 months without doing a thing.

Rumour is he has turned down Dundee after discussing budgets etc so I’d suggest our fans take there head out the clouds.

U WOT M8

48% win percentage with Montrose and has got them punching well above their weight. This year will have been a sore one as they totally blew it, but a team like that should really be nowhere near Championship football, just like we should be nowhere near League 1 with the money we can spend.

He would be an outstanding appointment.

Up there with the stupidest things I’ve read on here. Do you know anything about football at this level? Do you know where Montrose were when he took over, and where he’s had them since?

it`s a complete myth that petrie is on a mega bucks wage working for the Bank.

Petrie would not apply for the dunfermline job because of his loyalty to montrose but anyone that thinks petrie wouldn`t take the pars job is kidding themselves.

100% agree with LEGEND85. Petrie isn’t working in a mega bucks role in a Bank, didn’t apply for the position when Grant left out of loyalty to Montrose but different story if approached and I know because I asked him at the Bert and Dick event.

Looking at the last 2 posts above, I`m amazed at how convinced they sound that Stewart Petrie would accept the Pars job if it was offered to him. Are these posters related to him or best mates?

I was told by a reliable source that he didn`t apply when JH was appointed - rather surprising if he was that keen to come here.

I`m also amazed at those posters who claim Petrie blew a 3 goal lead on Saturday. Was it not his players? Or perhaps he completely changed tactics and formation and took off his best players to save them for the play off final?

Which was it?

GG riva we spoke with petrie not a friend of a friend but petrie himself.

He`s never been approached by dunfermline.

Funnily enough he finds it quite funny that folk on here keep referring to his bank job as the reason not to take the pars job.

He doesn`t read this forum personally but his friends tell him.

Montrose are a part time team in league 2 and he`s got them competing against bigger budgets ie Falkirk, airdrie and Cove all of whom montrose have either drawn and beaten this season.

Neither myself or TaxiPar said anything remotely described or suggested that SP was on “megabucks” in his current job in the bank. What a ridiculous thing to even suggest. It’s his career outwith football and has been there some time.

Ah cheers for that. It`s a shame he didn`t apply last time, rather than wait for the Pars to approach him. Maybe next time? He was a whole hearted player and no doubt he brings that attitude into management.

Not quite, they got to the promotion playoffs thanks to a successful season and failed to win promotion so are sitting in the same league as they were at the start of the season.
We were in the relegation playoffs due to the season being a failure and failed to stay up so are now sitting in the league below the one we were in at the start of the season!

Still he failed. He is a part time manager like nearly every manager in league one and two, lower budget than some, but football isn’t just about budgets. He has never managed at a full time club and not sure if any teams have even sounded him out, if he was really wanting Pars job why hasn’t he applied before? He was an Average player who gave it his all, but were are in this deep and need a flying start next season.
However it’s all hypothetical as Hughes is still under contract. Falkirk have the best manager in league one if McGylnn goes, closely followed by the loser of the play off final with Queen’s Park likely to increase playing budget substantially next season. A Play off spot has to be Pars aim next season.

Never understood this fascination with Petrie. Great Pars player does not make a great Pars manager. I wanted Hughes before Grant tho, so WTF do I know
