Has David Cook now taken over from Ross as of this weekend or is there a specific date he does?. If it is this weekend then it will be his decision to swing the axe in yogis direction if he wants to. His first act as CEO.

He’s been in place for months. Met most fans groups etc and been involved with lots of things.

Yeh he`s been in place but he said in his interview that he would be learning the running of the club from Ross till he steps down then it would be his full roll.

Presumably the hiring/firing of a manager is not in the hands of one individual ?

That`s what took the club into a bad place at the start of the season.

Crawford resigned and wasn`t the hiring decision made by McArthur and Braisby then approved by the board?

Yogi said his interview was with Thomas Meggle so it was clearly him that was involved

Hughes wasn`t manager at the start of the season 😉

I thought you meant Yogi as he said clearly it was Meggle. PG seemed to be supportive of Ross and said he was a great chairman etc…only guessing though as no idea. I’d have expected Meggle to be involved as Grant spoke about him as well. The German deal was done behind the scenes so that would make sense

It`s been published since his first interview that he spoke to numerous people before he was hired, it wasn`t one person that hired him.

Maybe I picked up the story wrong - but the club did not advertise the post and there were no competitive interviews ?

Is that standard procedure ?

There was a process though. He was interviewed by multiple people and the board were impressed with the football he`d tried to play on a budget. Personally I didn`t want him and its ultimately turned out to be a terrible decision but all this stuff about "no process" and "one person`s decision" that is forever regurgitated on here is just wrong. We`ve got enough to be hacked off about without making stuff up 🙈

why the vendetta ?

like many the hiring of PG seemed to go wrong, but you can`t know that in hindsight.

season hasn`t gone as planned whatver the reasons. need to look forward now and try and sort out how to move forward ?

There`s a lot of speculation on here that gets accepted as `fact` because it`s repeated so much. It`s a problem that isn`t confined to .net of course.

What vendetta - just trying to establish how PG got the job with no other candidates (apparently) being considered ?

He was available, in budget, had impressed the board of directors in the games against us (especially in their first season up), was given a good reference by the Ayr chairman and did well in his interviews to the extent the board gave him the job without interviewing anyone else.

You`re free not to like the process or the outcome of the process but having to go over and over and over and over the above is really really boring especially when it`s all documented on the COWS.

The Alloa chairman gave him a good reference whilst not renewing his contract when they were relegated.

I see we`re back to deleting threads for no reason again. Splendid. I already use this site less and less, but it`s getting back to being unusable again. Hey ho.

Anyway, the new CEO has a big job on his hands. Especially since it`s difficult to justify such a position in the third tier. If we do a Morton and come straight back up then maybe we can keep that model but if we do a Falkirk and stay down for a couple of years then I can`t see how we could keep that role open with crowds, sponsorship, prize money and TV revenue all down.

Yes, I did notice my “What is wrong with our club?” Post was deleted.

It’s ironic because if people aren’t willing to acknowledge or listen to the fans about what’s went wrong then nothing will change.

Any idea why? I’d read that thread and hadn’t seen anything wrong with it. Perhaps a few idiots posted in it after I looked, but surely the sensible option there is to delete those specific posts. Are we really being moderated, so that we can’t ask ‘what is wrong’ when the club openly says we’re going for promotion and ends up being relegated and going down without even putting up a fight in the playoffs?

Could it be the plan to start a fresh in a lower league set up the academy bring in youth (which was the plan anyway) and use the club as a shop window to sell on. This would be easier to do in a lower league than in the championship where teams are bigger and better??.

If we continue with the same structure at board level and continue with a scattergun approach to recruitment then there is no reason why we won`t go down the same route as Falkirk. Seems they have finally sorted things at board level to an extent but it`s taken them far too many underwhelming campaigns to do so. If Cook wants to turn the club around quickly we need to remove the obstructions at board level who have too much power around the appointment of managers and the running of the club, go back to a signing strategy more akin to the one we had under Crawford of developing younger talent and focus on getting a winning mentality back into the club. To do that in 1 season would be pretty spectacular and it`s a job I certainly don`t envy...

So the same board members who appointed and allowed Crawford to manage and recruit then restricted others?
Doesn’t make any sense.
Meggle has been around the last 2 appointments so to suggest that it’s sorted I’d say is untrue.
I think at best there has been some hearsay that you’ve jumped on without substance or knowledge.
I’m sure at our level and size of club all Directors have a vote and input and our chairman and sporting director/director of football have a final say on appointment

Ross dafc has a point. When Crawford was appointed we said we were going for
Young talent to try sell on like nisbet. Turner Murray etc all came from lower leagues. Then we abandon that policy to sign guys like todorov Dorrans etc who’ve had more clubs than tiger woods

I mentioned this on another thread, which was deleted. We scrapped a signing policy that had been working. Bizarre to ditch the ‘investing in youth’ policy at the same time we set up an academy. Things just aren’t adding up at all right now.

Asked about this change in signing policy while Grant was here and in January and was shot down on here.
