Today is the day the club start planning for life in league 1, I understand there is a meeting today... If by the end of the day YOGI is still here I reckon we need to get used to the idea that he will be the manager next season.
I expect a player update tomorrow too...

We will see. It is good to make a decision as early as possible to give us the best start for next season, but if he is still manager by the end of the day then I think the fallout will last a long time.
Let`s look at the positives. Even if we finish bottom of League One next year (32nd in the Scottish leagues) it still won`t be as bad as 1983/84 when we finished 33rd!

Don`t think many of these `players` will want to stay as they will think they can do better than League 1. Would like to see Yogi gone with as much `wheeling and dealing` possible to get rid of Chalmers and Todarov etc. A long term plan is needed though, you are right there, just not with yogi in charge imo.

The only Hughes signing signed up for next season is Joe Chalmers. Everyone else is a loan so not that much of an issue. The duds PG signed is a bigger problem.

Only the fact that he won some games and the atmosphere at EEP improved dramatically over the last few month - albeit that turned completely at full-time on Saturday. I doubt he would have taken us down if he started the season, but there`s not enough there to keep him on.
The board need to sell season tickets in a few weeks time and get the fans on board so that we have the best chance of bouncing straight back up. It`s difficult to do that by sticking with a manager who was last seen serenaded off to a chorus of "dirty falkirk b******".

But isnât it too late by that point? If youâre arguing that 24 games and 7 signings isnât enough time to make his stamp on things, then donât we just end up risking entering a strange cycle of allowing managers to spend the budget/build a team, then admitting it was a mistake? Weâd just end up in the exact position we were in October/November.
At this point, when you include the playoffs, Hughes has had twice as many games as Grant was given. Grant got given a summer window and was sacked after 12 games. We had a caretaker team in charge for 2, then Hughes got 22 games plus playoffs. Worth remembering, we were 3 points off 6th place when Hughes came in, we werenât some sort of lost cause.
Several other bottom half teams sacked their manager after we did and appointed managers that were able to turn things round/save those clubs. Hughes wasnât able to do that and failed his primary objective. His recruitment in January saw the club bring in guys like Polworth, Lawless, Ambrose and Chalmers. All of them were poor signings and were some of the worst players on the park during the final weeks of the season and playoffs. Is the manager that signed them not responsible for that?
Every week, we watched opposing managers make changes to try and win the game/get back into the game and Hughes always seemed to wait until it was too late (already conceded an equaliser/given them the lead) before he chose to react to the shift in momentum. That is not the sign of a good manager. If weâd gone down fighting, I could understand those defending him. But we went down because the manager was playing for a draw at home to Queens Park and stuck with players/a system that wasnât working for far too long.

I think we should be looking for a new long term Manager, perhaps Jack Ross, give him a four or five year contract (with exit clauses) and get a plan in to rebuild the playing squad and plan for the future with the youth academy eventually providing the conveyor belt of local talent
Ditching your manager twice a season will never work, you end up replacing one failure with another, especially if we retain those coaching staff members who have been an ongoing part of the repeated failure
Get the plan In place for the next five years and then work towards it, if the fans are aware of where we are going they are much more likely to be on board and buy in
âDoing the same thing time and again will achieve the same resultsâ those are the words of our outgoing chairman
Time to do some radical thinking and get the changes made all the way through the clubs structure, say thank you to those who were instrumental in saving the club but look to bring in new people who will believe in the plan and be prepared to see it through

Todarov maybe, especially with some quality crosses into the box he can be a handful. Chalmers no chance imo. He is slow, passive and offers nothing in an attacking or defending sense. I was raging after QP scored.
I get how we go 2 4 4 when attacking, and there might be positional changes during the game, but his inability to bring on subs early enough is the biggest issue. It worked v Ayr, but itâs usually too late to effect the game and leaving it till the 5 mins of additional time sealed it for me. He did bring on Comrie and Pybus after Ambrose was sent off, we mightâve benefitted from fresh legs, but he left other changes far too late.
Too many poor displays, no fight or character in that team, the QP result was hardly a freak one.
He has to go.

Todorov could be more effective in league 1, he`s not mobile enough to play as a lone striker which is why Hughes refused to play him most of the time. But I think he`s looked decent enough at times and would add a physicality if he was part of a strike partnership next season.
Chalmers shouldn`t be anywhere near the team next year, he`s a `luxury` player at best who has the least fight of any midfielder I`ve ever seen despite his size. He slows the play down too much and against teams that are compact in League 1 they`ll just reorganise before the team can get the ball forward which is what happened any time he got the ball this year. The midfield needs some energy and battle in it to consistently win games week in week out against some decent opposition next season.

1) Statement from the investors confirming what they think lies ahead and what strategy do they have to resolve this situation.
2) CEO been at the club long enough to know what he wants to improve off the field
3) Total clearout of the management team with the exception of Greg Shields he should be given the chance to help with the academy.
4) Clear out the squad wouldn`t care if any of them stayed next season

You could argue that but you could also argue that ayr completely chucked it against us and when we beat rovers they had key players oot and they were in the midst of one of their worst ever runs. At the end of the day we couldnât even get passed the first play off game over two legs against queens, we scored 0 and deserve to be down
If that message comes off as confrontational, itâs not meant too.

The board need to get a badly let down support back on board and staying with Hughes just not going to do that.
Whether fair or not he will be remembered along with Grant for being the manager that took us down the 1st Division and both of them for a team that produced diabolical results and performances and there is no way back.
Hughes must know himself that he is gone with the support and the implications of that for him and the board going into a difficult season mean there is only one outcome here, and it would be hard to think of a more risky strategy for the board than sticking with him...

I was surprised at the starting lineup and to see Yogi make only two subs (both shortly after the red card) prior to the 89th minute when QP scored.
I watched the highlights, and I would have thought that we would have created more chances before the red card.
I`m never in favor of additional transaction costs unless absolutely necessary.
But I don`t think Yogi is the manager for the team in League One.
Maybe there`s a silver lining in that our young players played quite a bit this season and made breakthroughs. In League One, they should play a lot.
It was great to see Lewis Martin back out there on Saturday, filling in for Edwards and getting forward and then slotting in the CB position when Efe was dismissed. I would want to sign him up for next year if his injury is behind him.
I`m not a proponent for a one-trick manager to get us out of League One in one year. I want someone in for the long haul, preferably a younger manager who wants an opportunity to cut his teeth.
Paul Hartley has had time at Cove (after managing at a higher level), and so has Kevin Thomson at Kelty. They had no initial experience in the lower leagues, but they did very well. Posters have mentioned Scott Brown, but I would also consider Shaun Maloney, and there are others.
And people need to realize that we very well may not get out of League One in one season. It should be a two-year plan based on youth.

Martin looked hesitant and way of the pace on sat, think his time would be up if we hadnât got relegated but he might sneak another deal now.
I just canât see how yogi sees next season out either way, unless we romp it and thatâs just not going to happen. If yogi is Ona hiding to nothing why give him the budget or allow him to sign anyone on more than a 1 year deal?

Very interesting indeed⊠hence why I asked cause I had a feeling it wouldnât look too bad. I agree if the last game properly mattered weâd have seen it. A decent ref away to Hamilton would have seen us alright too!
Yogi hasnât been all bad. He inherited a pile of absolute dross, couldnt trust some maturer players so felt he had to start the likes of Allan and Todd in midfield. Got landed with a terrible defence that had used god knows how many CBâs! The guy actually done alright to get us off the bottom if you ask me.
I get the 1 upfront - he felt he had to be pragmatic to protect the defence and keep us in games to give us a chance. I get the lack of subs at times cause the guys on his bench werenât up to much. Heâs had stick for the treatment of DT at times (me included) but now itâs coming out the guy has fallen out with everyone at various points! So maybe he was right to bench him!
I do accept however he didnât give Wighton and Oâhara much of a chance to begin with and I think he should have made Vytas stay, heâs in no way completely defendable.
If he goes I wouldnt be tok bothered, if he stays I wouldnât be bothered either - can see why theyâd give him a chance to build his own team considering the overhaul he had to have of PGâs sh*te!

Weâve underperformed all season. That underperformance continued under Hughes despite drastic changes to the squad.
For me, he is far too rigid in his style of play to entrust a season in League 1. He signed plenty of players but didnât address the big issue that I think has been a problem for a while - our weak midfield. We were crying out for a solid player in the middle who could break up play and recycle.
Iâm up for real change, letâs do something completely different. Why donât we look to young foreign coaches and use this as a chance to properly reset the playing side?

They took training that week to prepare, they picked the team and they were in the dugout, whilst the incoming Hughes watched from the stand. Thatâs why I didnât include that game, he wasnât our manager that day.

If we had lost that game, would you credit the loss as Hughes fault?
Now who`s got the agenda...

If you`re going to give Hughes all the credit for the win at Inverness, then it`s only fair that he takes all the blame for the shitshow that followed.

Soccerbase include it in his managerial record so history will record it as a JH win. I presume they base their stats on dates of appointment/leaving. As far as I recall he was in the changing room at half-time when we were 0-1 down and I think Shields and Whittaker credited him with some input.

Our own website refers to Greig Shields as being the caretaker manager for the game, if it was John Hughes who was managing the team you wouldn`t need a caretaker manager.
If you start crediting Hughes with the win then you`d be aswell as crediting Scott Brown and John Collins with some of our results this season, the logic is exactly the same.

Were Collins and Brown ever in the dressing-room or running on to the pitch at the end of a game to congratulate the players? What`s the big deal about this anyway? It`s not as if it defines his time as manager.

If we had lost that game, they would all be including it!

Brian Rice the Alloa manager was certainly in our dressing room at half time and passing notes via the fitness coach to the dug out during the second half.
