I see two Ayr centre-backs have signed PCAs. Aaron Muirhead is rejoining former Ayr manager Ian McCall at PT and Jack Baird is joining Morton. Maybe Lee Bullen has told them they were surplus to requirements.

Surprised Muirhead has gone to Thistle. I thought they`d want to kick on, Muirhead seems like a bit of a "staying in the division" signing. Thistle fans weren`t delighted on P&B, seem to think McCall has a signing policy of ex players and old firm loanees.

Muirhead spent two and a half seasons at Thistle before he joined Falkirk so maybe that`s why their fans aren`t too impressed with the signing. He`s from Dumfries which may explain the link with QOS.

I would have thought ICT wouldn`t finalise their releases until they knew which League they`ll be in next season. As Rovers have no manager presumably McGlynn authorised the signing of Keatinges before he left. Hasn`t he been there before? He moves around a lot but doesn`t seem to play many games.
Re Arbroath, I thought Doolan had already retired. No mention of Gavin Swankie who is often on Arbroath`s bench but rarely comes on - just checked and he`ll be 39 in November!

There’s sometimes no decision to be made. A player comes to the end of his contract and leaves. Clubs say they’ve been “released” but a lot of the time that’s not actually the case.

Players can absolutely succeed in different systems etc.
The second paragraph is key and its what Falkirk seem to have fallen foul off, buying players on reputation who are slipping down the leagues, has Mcdaid still got the hunger and desire to do well? He always blew hot and cold at championship level.
While he was at Dundee with McPake it was under him that he got loaned out, does McPake even rate him?

Foster, Mayo and Benedictus.

Foster would be a terrible signing. Looked absolutely finished every time I’ve seen him this season. Mayo would be more than good enough for league 1, not sure why he would drop down to that level though. Hamilton I’m sure I read hearts would be due a decent development fee from whoever signs him, so that could rule that out.

Could be Charlie Adam, he`s played 499 games. Or maybe Kirk Broadfoot, although I think his contract is over. Chris Burke is out of contract soon but has played well over 600 games. Even someone like Lee Wallace would fit the bill.
I guess any of them on a player coach deal would be a good next step at this stage in their careers.

I think we all hoped that last but it didn`t happen.
It is interesting that some smaller clubs in Scotland have been able to sign some players outwith the usual merry-go-round and it would be nice if we could do the same.
Despite being in league 1 I think if sold correctly Dunfermline we are a more exciting prospect than the majority of teams in the championship and you wouldn`t think our wage structure would be that much smaller than most championship teams apart from Dundee.
Also think if ourselves and Falkirk get our house in order and are really competitive at the top of the league then the crowds we could attract will be far better than anything in the championship.

any player who isnt, you go through the exemptions panel, pay the appeal/admin fee and from what ive heard the player will get in more likely than not. they do not have to be international players and never had to be last summer or the winter window before that.

The imminent Peterhead signing of an international player with around 500 appearances to his name seems to be Paul Dixon, formerly of Dundee and Dundee United and most recently at Falkirk.

Good for Ryan Dow, cracking wee club Peterhead.
Never consistent (which is why he doesn`t play in the top flight) but did well for us in fits and starts, plenty quality there, seems a good fit.
Kanwa has played hardly any football, and I think he is 23? But he looked decent, we need wide players, so he might kick on in the third tier, on the other hand he might turn out to be just another U23 academy guy who left it too late to play adult footb.

“Kamwa was not good enough, hopefully he won`t be back here”
Kamwa wasn’t given a chance, he is a striker but was put on the wing for The final 7 minutes of each game. Hardly a chance to show what you can do. I do think there could be a striker in there, but on the wing, hugging the touch line was not his best position by far.

We don`t have any worries about strikers, we have three at least who should all be playing at a higher level, I have no concerns about Wighton, O`Hara or Todorov in this league
Kawma has played almost no adult football whatsoever, and he`s already 22
I assumed he was a winger, and he might turn out great, but personally I`ve had enough of a academy players who hung around too long at their original clubs.
Our focus probably is in other areas, a winger for starters.

Saw nothing to suggest he was up to it, if we was a quality player better than what we had I suggest yogi would have used him more.
No idea about the u23 league down south but seems there’s a fair few who are just shirt fillers.

yep big club academies just hoovering up all the talent and when comes to 18s onwards they are still playing pretty much "kids" games against other academies and by early 20s fall down the levels as struggle when it comes to adult and competitive games

Players really need to be playing adult football as quickly as possible, 22 is way too old to be making your first baby steps, it could work out for him, but think of the player he could be if he already had 150 games under his belt, instead of doing stepovers and running around a lot
Tom Beadling is a good example of this, the physicality and quick thinking needed in adult football meant he overstretched himself to the point of getting a series of stress injuries.
Last season he was in Barrows squad 12 times only, third bottom of the football league. He is 26.

Yes, he gòt turned a couple of times and hauled his opponents down, getting red carded as the last man. Not sure that both were on the harsh side. They couldn`t have been consecutive games as he had to serve a suspension. He learned his lesson though and I don`t think he was ever sent off again.

There`s a good article on the BBC Sport Scottish Football website about the problems of recruiting players in the lower leagues. Jim McInally says Peterhead can no longer compete for wages with some Lowland League clubs for players based in the central belt who can make more money with less travel by staying put. John Rankin, newly-appointed manager at Hamilton, says wages are decreasing and more players are attracted to playing part-time and following a career.

Steven Bell at Kelty? Didn`t Dom absolutely roast him for pace last season? Confident that`s simply a squad signing rather than first eleven.
I wouldn’t be too sure on that. I think they have Jordan Forster at CB, who looked completely finished at Dundee 3 years ago. Tam O’Ware is his partner, his injury history has left him with a real lack of mobility.
They’ve conceded 5 goals in 2 games, having played the same two teams that failed to score against us. I’d be surprised if they were signing defensive cover, rather than trying to strengthen their defence.

Going by his performance at Alloa they need to sign a keeper.

I see young local lad Che Reilly who made a few appearances for us preseason on trial before being knocked back, has signed for Livingston. He will be loaned to Inverkeithing for the rest of the season. Seems to be a good prospect

Vinnie Steels? Was playing for Sunderland U23s last season but was released in the summer.

Would take Byrne in a heartbeat, would expect a few other championship clubs and possibly livi wanting him back too stopping us doing that. One thing possibly in our favour would be Dundee not wanting him to go to a direct rival.

If agree with you there, always felt Sean was one we shouldn’t have let go.

we didnt, he chose to leave.
i dont think he will be the only Dundee player available, StJohnstone love a central midfield signing and have just lost one for a few months to injury so can see him ending up there.

Rovers fans delighted he`s gone. They said that about Bene to be fair. Even had one telling me Nisbet was a dud too.

Cameron scored for Killie tonight.
Killie now have about 5 or 6 forwards so would expect someone to move.
He has been playing fairly regularly so may be unlikely but Oli Shaw would be a great loan for a championship team.

Airdrie have completed the signing of Aaron Taylor-Sinclair from Falkirk.
The Antigua and Barbuda international has had considerable experience at Championship clubs, and joins up Rhys McCabe`s side ahead of the new campaign.
“Sinky’s come in and looked good, and he’ll bring valuable experience. We’re a young squad, so we’ve spoken to him about what we expect him to bring as a senior pro," McCabe said.
“He’s got that versatility, it’s a real plus for us that he can play in two or three positions, and especially in an area that we were looking for a signing anyway.”
Weren`t we looking at him in the January transfer window?

Just noticed that ex-Par loanee Josh Coley has joined Harrogate Town on loan from Exeter City. After returning to Norwich in January 2020 he was released and was out of the Football League until Exeter signed him at the start of last season.
