Buzzing that we managed to maintain our Pot 2 status. Maybe the season wasn`t such a write-off after all...

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Cowden be good, may be last time in a while

Wonder if pot1 teams all get home games as usual?

Hibs
East Fife
Cowdenbeath

That be cool

Pot 3, Cove be novel but tough, the rest we will play in league so not bothered about that pot

I was thinking pot 3 might be better as that might give us pot 1 at home, but then I don`t know for definite that they don`t get home games against both pots 2 and 3.

Is it North and South again?
Pot 1 north would be Ross County, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Dundee.
Pot 3 north would be Montrose, Peterhead, Cove And Alloa.
Pot 4 north would be East Fife, Kelty, Forfar, Edinburgh City.
Pot 5 north would be Elgin, Fraserburgh, Buckie, Cowdenbeath.

Out of them would prefer St Johnstone, Alloa, East Fife and Cowdenbeath as less travelling.

The flame still burns

Premier Sports is delighted to announce it has been awarded the rights to broadcast UEFA National Team football in the United Kingdom from 2022 to 2024 encompassing the UEFA Nations League and European Qualifiers to UEFA EURO 2024.

This includes all of Scotland’s fixtures beginning with their UEFA Nations League fixture versus Armenia on June 8th, all of Northern Ireland’s matches starting with the home tie against Greece on June 2nd and all of Republic of Ireland’s matches kicking off with their away trip to Armenia on June 4th.

Premier Sports is set to broadcast the League B, Group 1 tie of the Republic of Ireland versus Scotland on June 11th exclusively live in the UK and the return match at Hampden Park on September 24th.

Cove and Bonnyrigg (or Queens Park if at Lesser Hampden) away Hibs and Kelty home might be better away support than the others

There`s immediate pressure on James McPake to qualify from the group. Haven`t the last three managers (pre-Yogi) done so (without getting much credit for it!)?

It has been a good competition for us in the past but the cracks from the Rangers game never really healed for Grant and the team. I think our organisation was like an open wound in that game.
Starting to look forward to the new season peppered with a large chunk of realism this year.

Looking at load of uninformed posts , there was pressure on McPake before he even got the job.........

Pressure to get out a group that hasn’t been drawn yet and one place less than normal with 8 group winners and only 3 best place runners up going through. Given were are 16th on that list and 11 places for grabs he would be doing well to get us through any group.

In terms of the group stages we must be one of the best peforming sides in it over the last few years, especially out of the non premier league sides. Think only the first season the group stage was introduced we didnt qualify, and have had great away results at Dundee, Hearts, St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Partick in that time. As well as some high scoring home wins.

Quite honestly if we don’t win that group then the manager the bod and Sammy the Tammy should all be strung up from the city chambers 😉

God knows what our squad will look like but these will be good tests of where we are at outside of the usual friendlies.

Hopefully at home to Buckie so we can maybe boost our strikers confidence with a few goals!

That`s a good group to test ourselves in and get up to match speed quickly for the league campaign. I`d quite happily jettison this cup as long as we hit the ground running in the league.

Don’t think it was ever as straightforward as that - they’ve never had pots 4 and 5 before this year. The last 24 teams were all in pot 3 as ‘unseeded’ teams before. Partick would have been 3rd seeds in the group last year, but we played both them and St Mirren away.

Agree weemike although I wouldn’t be complaining if we got through the group and got drawn away to Celtic or rangers and made a few quid.

Wighton Ohara Todorov in a front three at Ibrox against The Rangers!!! Christ knows how many shots we had… One of Grants more interesting tactics
