 It’s not looking good.

I don’t know the reasons why these guys have left but for me I thought that Coll Donaldson & Dan Pybus were our best players and I would have been happy if we had resigned them both. Things are really bad if we can’t compete with Falkirk. I would have built my team around these guys. Pybus being told by text that he isn’t wanted is a poor show and Donaldson signing for our biggest rivals is worrying. Dylan Easton signing for Raith is the kind of player I would have liked to have seen at East End. McPake must have some awesome signings lined up to let 2 of our best players leave. I realise the season has not long finished but other clubs are already selling season tickets and offering renewals. Other teams have also released their new strips for next season. We are already falling behind.

This is nonsense. Donaldson wasn’t ours to keep and clearly didn’t want to wait around for a deal, our manager only signed on Tuesday night. As much as he’s liked, Pybus is a major part of why we are down and we’ve got to move players on and start fresh. Easton signing for a team in the top half of the championship opposed to a league 1 rebuild job is hardly surprising either.

Keep the heid and let things play out.

Donaldson was on loan, he wasn`t our player to sign again and it leaves him completely open to sign for who he wants.

Pybus situation doesn`t sound great but it`s coach preference, maybe isn`t fancied by McPake.

Easton had been speaking with Partick back in March, signed for Raith and obviously wants ti play at the highest level he can.

I’ll wait until closer to the start of the season to pass judgement. I’d have liked to have had Donaldson signed for next season though, we will go a long way to sign a better centre back.

Pybus I’m on the fence about. Potentially a decent squad player, good work rate but not the most technically gifted. There are better midfielders out there, whether we sign them or not is another matter.

I’d have liked to have signed Dylan Easton but we probably struggle to be more attractive than the rovers as a destination at this point.

The worrying thing is the worst of last seasons dross is still signed for another year. Can we find a way to get some of them out the door to free up wages to sign better?

Pybus did his best, but isnt that great, so no big lost. His player of the year really was awarded for being an "A for effort " kind of performer. Nothing wrong with that, but better will be out there.

Donaldson wasn`t ours, i would have been open to signing him, its a shame he and Watson look an effective centre back pairing for falkirk. But just cause it looks that way, doesnt mean it will be a success.

Couldn’t fault Pybus for work rate and effort but ultimately he is nowhere near good enough. I liked Donaldson but like others have mentioned we were in between managers and he hasn’t hung about when having a concrete offer on the table.

The criticisms of Pybus seem unfairly harsh. He was a CDM, and I would imagine that his “tackles won” stats would have ranked pretty high in the Championship last season if such info was gathered at that level. No-one expects the great N’Golo Kante to play defence-splitting passes (of his near twelve thousand passes for Chelsea, his “big chances created” stat is only twenty!), yet our CDM is now criticised on various threads for this aspect of his game! Pybus was arguably the type of player we were missing in the Nisbet/McManus/Clark years when we had a ‘soft’ centre. Unless replaced, he will be sorely missed, in my opinion.

Season tickets not on sale, that’s the clubs major income stream every season. No sign of new strips either, another big seller for the club. Other teams making signings and shaping their squads as we are playing catch up.

For as much as these players were limited in quality, they both showed the right attitude and left everything on the park. This is the type of player we need right now.
So I`d have been happy with them in this division.

We still have players on the books who didn`t do that who I`d liked to have seen gone before them.

The thing is Gaz, Grant signed them to two year deals so we are unlikely to be able to get them all out this summer. Hopefully some of them go though. Dorrans and Mehmet in particular.

6 years ago today we had sold 1800 season tickets. Now we don’t even know when they’ll be on sale. Yes they were later last year but that was due to clubs getting guidance for crowds etc

What do we want to hear first - news of JMcP`s first signing or news of the new ST and walk-up prices? Whichever it is someone won`t be pleased.

Well considering season tickets sales make up most of a managers budget, I’d have thought getting them on sale asap would’ve made logical sense

Tbh we wouldn’t be able to sign players while the managers job was in doubt, therefore while we dithered about deciding whether to keep Hughes or not, there would have been no movement on players. That’s almost 2 weeks lost, 2 weeks where players have no idea what is happening next season so will clearly take a guaranteed contract over a ‘maybe’. Now McPake has come in he’s got to start afresh. Personally I would have offered a contract to Donaldson but he’s got to think of himself and his family first so I don’t blame him for going to Falkirk, I blame the Directors for the 2 weeks wasted with Hughes. I also would’ve loved to see Pybus stay, he’s a proper battler who always gave absolutely everything in a team that looked rudderless and bereft of confidence, he could’ve done a top job in league one. Hopefully he doesn’t come back to bite us in the butt!

The budget will have a projection of season ticket sales, they don`t need to start selling them to create the budget. The budget might change slightly depending on sales (or possibly not) but the fact x number of season ticket sales happened six years ago is completely irrelevant.

Comparing this season to the season where we won the league in March and had over two months to plan our finances vs just being relegated two weeks ago just shows how little folk on here actually understand how businesses work.

There will be news on season tickets in early june there is no need to panic and remember the manager will need to evaluate who is staying and who is going before we look into adding to the squad this will not be a quick fix patience is required

Quick glance on cows shows grant and mccabes arrival more or less were the same, and first signing Todorov last year was June 15th. Now granted last season is no way a great inidcator of the right way to do things i admit, but so far we are hardly floundering

Evidently our situation will mean that other teams have the jump on us as regards the playing side, the shirts and tickets not being on sale at this time is nothing new.
What I do think it highlights is again the lack of interaction from the club, why not publish a list of dates(season tickets, players back in training, maybe an open training session, kit launch, first friendly, open days etc.) it`s an opportunity to build bridges that have been created by some of the poor decisions off the field last season. The team up the road are keeping their fans informed including contract negotiations, come on Dunfermline keep your support engaged.

James McPake needs a chance to settle in. Players moving on is good, we got relegated with a team that looked lost in front of goal and on occasion in our own penalty area. Role on the many changes needed.

I echo the manager just started a couple days ago and won’t be even close to signing players. Coaching staff maybe priority one. He will also be extremely busy looking at what he needs to reshape the squad. I imagine signings won’t happen for at least a couple weeks. Fans have got take a step back and let the new manager start the rebuilding process. It could take 2 seasons to sort the shambles out he has been left. Not many players deserve to remain at the club in all honesty. Patience needed from all of us.

I think this time around we appointed a manager pretty early who will have the whole summer to build a squad. Last time around I recall being worried that Grant was leaving it very late to get people in. We should be targeting good players from the teams around us in League 1 and sprinkle in some Championship quality. I wouldn`t mind a few senior leaders in the squad but I`d be surprised if one of them was Dorrans. He`s under contract and I`d give him another go but he`d need to seriously show something this time around.

I`d bite your hand off for Chris Burke who`s a model pro but I`d be surprised if teams in a better position didn`t want him on board as a tone setter.

I don’t think anyone who was part of the setup at EEP for season 21/22 will be using it as a springboard to greater things …. if I was a Morton or Ayr fan (arbitrarily selected, mediocre, teams that stayed in the Championship), I doubt I’d be overly excited about signing someone from the team that’s just been relegated.

Queens Park? Personally I hope they do well; they have an amazing history and their continued presence in Scottish football is a positive thing (I think) …. Can they go on and outperform Patrick, Hamilton etc? Who knows?

As for comparisons with Falkirk and Raith … frankly, I would say it has been that sort of mindset that has led us to where we are now. I’d prefer it if they worried about us, rather than vice-versa anyway.

Considering what we’ve all been through, I don’t think a wee bit patience is out of place. The strip? How about black & white stripes, home AND away; with a second strip of a solid colour when we NEED a change? Season tickets will likely, in the main, belong to the usual suspects …. a population that increases with success and will almost certainly be a lot lower for 22/23.

One thing we can offer that most teams in league one can’t is full time football. I know airdrie have a mix of full time and part time and Falkirk are full time.

If we aren’t promoted within a couple of seasons I could see us implementing a hybrid system like airdrie to allow us to sign some of the better part time players available. I know the rovers did this (and maybe still do?).

I get the underlying sentiment of the thread and it’s something I agree with, football sometimes works out like that, pybus has to go to make space for new recruits while chalmers is kept on as he has a contract, I think we all know which one should the one staying.

Donaldson would have been a good signing, we need a captain for this team and so still need an experienced head at at the back to organise and keep the lads going.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

To be fair to those complaining, the kits were actually announced on the 26th May and pre-orders were taken from the Friday (28th May). So I’m not sure where your 2nd June date comes from. I’m not fussed about kit reveals being delayed though.

Season tickets were different last year, as they were waiting for assurances fans would be allowed in. That shouldn’t be a concern this year. Pre-covid, season ticket announcements were early May. Early bird deals would have ended this week in those years, so we are quite far behind on that.

2019 - sales began 10th May, early bird ended 1st June
2018 - sales began 9th May, early bird ended 2nd June
2017 - sales began 9th May, early bird ended 3rd June.

We used to get told that getting the ticket income in May was crucial for planning for the season/funding signings, which is why they had the early bird offers.

Getting a season ticket is always a gamble so this season isn`t really that different. Of course not buying one probably means a smaller recruitment budget which could affect the standard and/or number of players we attract which in turn could affect our chances of promotion.`
