I wouldnt be enthused with Benedictus but I could see the logic.
Foster though? Not only did he look utterly done but full back is one of the few positions we`re set in, his behaviour marks him out as an utter belter aswell and surely isn`t a guy you want or need in the changing room?
Mayo could be a good player but again, we`re already well set upfront.

Check out Callum’s hat trick in the recent play offs, every one a cracker.
I remember the good old days when Fife, particulary the pit towns and villages etc produced a steady stream of talent. Even Rosyth boasted Alex Edwards, Alec Smith and Andy Penman - superb players all, but all from the same era
Not all kids are glued to their Playstations at the weekends, there is plenty of organised football through the age groups, probably more than that trio from Rosyth experienced, but what is the end result?

Whether we`d love to or not, they`re all under contract and all would require another club to take on there contract, is another striker the best use of our funds when we have four on the books?
Either way I`d far rather we played in a way where we gave our front line some service.

Not wanting to be a d1ck but it`s David Moyo. I`ve seen folk on other threads already complaining about signing "Mayo" ie Lewis Mayo who`s a defender for Partick.

I`ve never heard of him so to save others also Googling...
-He played 28 times for Arbroath last season. -Was Arbroath young player of the year.
-He`s just left hearts after 12 years.
-Seems to be a defensive midfielder
Wiki has his youth clubs down as hearts and crossgates so assume he`s local.

Would absolutely take Hamilton if that rumour is true, was outstanding for arbroath last season.
For Moyo I think he`d be a decent option but it would most likely be a case of 1 in 1 out in the forward department. I can`t imagine all of Wighton, Todorov and O’Hara will be here when the new season begins.
Would also take Benedictus, had a bit of an up and down season in the championship but has solid experience and alongside perhaps a more athletic defender that could settle down a defence that has been constantly changing for the past year.
Foster is a strong no from me, was awful anytime I saw thistle, there are already enough decent and younger options at the club and he seems more interested in the sportscene gig anyway.

Have I missed us signing defensive midfielders? I’m genuinely surprised to hear that anyone thinks we’re sorted in any central midfield aspect. Dorrans has spoken about preferring an attacking role and that’s where McPake will likely play him (he also spoke about potentially leaving/retiring?), Paul Allan’s more of a creative player and not a defensive midfielder at all. Todd looks better at RB. Is Chalmers all we need? Is anyone even happy with him being first choice?

can argue we need to make changes in midfield anyway but if Hamilton does sign, i cant see a setup that fits him and the other options that are here.
McInroy is a no brainer, said the same in January but he will have far better offers than us in League 1.

Broadfoot was a decent performer last season. Furthermore, when i`ve seen and heard him interviewed he seems like the kind of guy you`d want around the place if you were trying to build some team spirit. Wouldn`t want too many 37 year olds in the team but one or two gooduns would do no harm.

I get what you`re saying, Andrew, but the flip side of that is that if the bulk of our squad consists of players from e.g. Glasgow or Ayrshire, they will almost certainly be fans of Sellick or Sevco and playing for the Pars is just a job to them. Not for a minute suggesting they won`t be trying, but in relative terms they won`t be playing with the desire of local lads who are also Pars fans.
We had a generous sprinkling of just such players in the halcyon days of the 60s. I`m sure some dotnet senators could easily provide an exhaustive list..... 🙂

Yes, football is probably " just a job" for most Scottish footballers, apart from those lucky enough to be playing for the team they support. I was just pointing out there were a lot of Pars fans playing for their team when we had an outstanding squad in the 60s.

Looking at the SPFL website I don`t see a lot of transfer activity by the full-time clubs in the Championship and League 1. I find that surprising as most contracts will have expired on 31 May and you would expect players would be keen to get signed up, if only for cash flow reasons. Pre-season training can`t be far-off either so there must be pressure on clubs to get their squads sorted soon.

Scott Brown is a born winner, no matter who he turned out for. I very much doubt he was a Celtic fan. I think I read somewhere he was actually a Rangers fan. Didn`t stop him giving 100% when he came up against them.
Not every player is from Brown`s mould though. I can`t help thinking that it it is advantageous to have a squad which has a good number of players who are proud to play for the jersey. Those of us who are lucky enough to have watched the Pars in the 60s can testify to that. Off the top of my head, Eric Martin, Willie Callaghan, John Lunn, Alex Smith, Tom Callaghan, Alex Edwards, Bert Paton, Jackie Sinclair and Paddy Wilson were all local lads who would happily have played for the Pars for nothing.
I`m sure, sammer, VEE and Co could add to that list.

Gogic released by Hibs. Type of player we could be doing with, don`t think too unrealistic either.

Lee Connolly from Queen of the South, would constitute a good signing for us. One of the few players I was really impressed with, when we played them last season

Gogic did well at St Mirren after signing on loan in January. No chance he will be dropping down 2 divisions.

Lee Connolly did look good. Is he out of contract? He signed a 1-year deal last July but I`d imagine QoS would have tried to extend it following the start he made.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.
