Documentary about Fergie directed by his son, Jason, was on C4 last night. With contributions from the man himself, his wife and sons, this was probably as honest a portrait of the man as there has been. I don`t think the Pars got a mention but there were clips of a couple of goals he scored for us. It should be available on All 4 now if anyone missed it.

It showed a side of him the public rarely sees. I think the stroke he suffered had changed his perspective to some extent. It was particularly interesting to hear him talk about his time at Rangers and his decision to drop Jim Leighton from the FA Cup Final replay against Crystal Palace.

Hamilton Accies? We won 1-0 I think against a team that shipped around 100 goals that season. If they hadn`t had a good keeper in Billy Lamont it would have been much more.

Must admit to being a bit disappointed at coverage given, as wee eck said, three Pars goals and a couple of team pics, but no mention of anything he did here, his first full time contract, Euro matches and goals, top league goalscorer, like 30 secs between scoring a hat-trick for Saint-J to signing for huns.
No mention of managing East Stirling, a very small passing mention for 4 years at St Mirren and building a great young team, or turning down Aberdeen a year before he went there...

I think the clue was in the title, Lux. It was mainly about eventually coming good at Old Trafford, including winning the Champions League, and also overcoming the stroke. Everything else was incidental.

No mention of him being sacked as a manager either !!!
That wouldn’t pass the scriptwriter’ censorship pencil.

Watched this last year on a streaming service, I was surprised Jock Stein was never mentioned, not even his collapse and death at the Wales game.

The reference to his hat trick for St.Johnstone at Ibrox in Dec.1963 was misleading to say the least, suggesting he had only just been called up to the Saints first team.
Unless I`m much mistaken Sir Fergie can be seen around 1:01 to 1:06 on this footage.

I knew from reading his first autobiography twenty years ago that Jim Leighton had fell out with him after being dropped for the 1989 FA cup final but I didn`t know that the goalie hadn`t spoke to him to this day.

It looks like Jim took getting dropped quite badly! Gave his winner`s medal to Sealey and also returned a specially made one they made for him.

Jim Leighton should have been grateful he got to the dark side in Manchester.
He never let on he wore contact lenses in our world cup qualifier vs Wales when Jock Stein passed away in 1985
He lost them during the match so Alan Rough had to replace him.
Fergie was apparently furious at half time.
