In Scotland refs are semi pros, in England top refs are full time, however I`m not sure about the ones in the lower leagues.

Relocating due to a change with day job. Pretty sure there is not one ref where everyone says he is good? No ref is good if he has officiated at a pars game

Pier-Luigi Collina wasn`t bad for a baldy. He had that wide-eyed, unblinking stare, accompanied by a a gesture to go into his top pocket for a card whenever any player made to complain about a decision.....

Only if you take my post literally and seriously. The first emoji is intended to convey that this is not the case.
As for the latter, many Celtic fans do refer to him as "Mad Hun", which is obviously a play on his surname and no doubt fuelled by a perceived anti-Celtic bias on their part, which I think is quite amusing. No offence was intended.
With Madden apparently relocating to England for work reasons, I can see him being invited to give his professional opinion on controversial VAR decisions, as a demonstrably neutral foreign ref, especially in games between Celtic and Rangers. š

Never forget Falkirk away few seasons ago he was disgraceful. Fortunately we came out on top but could have been a entirety different story based on his harsh decision making.

His āso what ?ā comments in reply to Yorkstonās criticism of the late call off v Kilmarnock a few years back weāre well out of order.
He still got his fee etc. for attending, so he couldnāt care less about the fallout - just an erse of a man.

in fairness you decide if the game is going ahead based on conditions when you inspect the playing area. The goals at that time were not visible from the centre circle and game correctly could not go ahead. the aberdeen game a few years previously being example of a shambles when allowing to go ahead. Just because Michael fish says there will be no hurricane, doesnt mean there will be no hurricane ;)

This is him at the time of the pitch inspection:

Given that the far end goal is visible from the corner flag, I think we can dismiss as nonsense the suggestion that the goals weren`t visible from the centre circle at that time. It was an outrageous decision in its self, and even worse when taking into account that things had been improving in the half hour before that.

You`re defence of him is admirable however he was advised ( and ignored) weather reports it would soon clear up as they did within half an hour of his departure.
Sportsound made a lot of noise about this on the day too I remember.
It was a very bad call at the time

I`m no fan of Madden, but his decision to call off the Killie game hardly makes him a poor ref. His decision to send off Lee Ashcroft in the first leg of that play off final v Dundee Utd still rankles however....... š
