Updates are fine at telling us what was said but what was the overall `vibe` of the meeting? Was the feeling that we are in good hands or was there some scepticism amongst the audience?

My take on the proceedings, I was impressed with the the way the new manager answered questions and basically I think it was a breath of fresh air listening to him. Roll on the start of the season.

Seemed fairly positive. Everyone knows we need to start winning games. CEO acknowledged that losing too many games has been a problem for over 18 months/2 years now. Need to change that habit.

McPake knows that winning is the most important thing. Reiterated that he won’t accept anything less than 100% commitment/effort from any players. If they don’t work hard enough, they don’t play. Both Cook and McPake admitted that they can do as much marketing as they want, but what gets fans through the gates is getting the ball forward, scoring goals and winning games. That’s the objective.

McPake seemed particularly keen on Comrie and Edwards at full back. Thinks they’re both very good players - think he said he tried to sign Comrie for Dundee. Also sees Matty Todd as a very good attacking midfielder that can drive the team forward. He linked that back to mentioning that we didn’t seem to have anyone linking midfield and attack previously.

Overall, a lot more realism than we got from the evening with Hughes. McPake seems much more level-headed than the 2 managers we had last season. Got positive vibes from him and he seems like someone the players will respect. Has a very good presence about him and seems very confident in himself, without the arrogance that we have seen previously. However, proof’s in the pudding and we need to win games.

Was disappointed that Meggle was there, but just sat in the back of the room and didn’t say a word. The investor last time (Teller?) was much more actively involved in the discussions. However, both Cook and McPake said that he has been very useful and they will keep tapping into his knowledge. But it was also made very clear that McPake picks the team.

I quite liked what he had to say, however could have been copied and pasted from what previous managers have said before a ball has been kicked under his tenure. Proof will be in the pudding. I was interested to hear him say he likes to get the ball forward quicker? I will be interested to see how this will be achieved. I would suggest not with last season’s midfield.

I`m really impressed by the "Foundations" approach and hope this is really pushed as used to support the work GG and others do in school. I know it`s the same everywhere, but we need local people supporting the Pars. It`s hopefully the beginnings of seeing the club embedded as part of Dunfermline itself.

I often think people don`t appreciate the importance of the club and the people and money it brings in.

Thought Cook made an interesting comment last night that we need to target a lot of the ‘new’ families coming to Dunfermline. But the way to do that is not to target parents that already have a team, but to encourage the youngsters along to support their local team. Hopefully that means we’ll see free tickets for schools/initiatives to get local kids along. If someone’s 6/7 year old is begging their mum/dad to bring them along, that can only be a good thing.

I think he’s right with what he said and look forward to seeing what is done. He wouldn’t reveal anything but did say there are a number of things planned to get fans through the turnstiles. He wants the club to be a big part of the city in general.

I`ve mentioned this before on here but I came across a study that found something like 90% of kids that had picked a team to support at the age of ten kept them as their team for life. Really wish I could find the research as it was a decent piece of writing. Makes sense to try and get youngsters going to the games as it does bring the parents along.

I think Livi have had some access with targeting the kids. Not many adults in West Lothian will have been Livi supporters growing up but they may become occasional supporters - either taking their kids along or if there is a game they fancy.

Many adults may not have a team or interest in football either. Get the kids in and then the adult comes along too. Maybe turns them into a fan.

A key thing is making it an enjoyable experience for them. That usually involves a positive result 😂

Doesn`t the programme of visits to primary schools carried out by GGRiva and others, accompanied by players, promote the club to local youngsters? I think they may also distribute free tickets to upcoming matches as part of the initiative.

as was answered last night putting players into a "general public" environment outside of the clubs covid bubble would have been a massive issue in the last 18 months. Can look to recommence school engagements as well as players/management in Hospitality/Legends/charlie D`s post match going forwards as well as Sammy allowed back pitchside.

Yea, the Schools Engagement Programmes came to an abrupt halt in March 2020, thanks to Covid. I`ve emailed local primary schools àbout re-starting next session and there`s no lack of interest. Both David Cook and James McPake are fully behind us, so it`s just a matter of getting the school visits organised now.

Most contracts have relegation clauses these days tho and we should have them being a club of our size offering those wages for a 2 year period - if we don’t then that’s really poor! He should have been sat down, told he was awful last season and told he wasn’t wanted.

I certainly didn’t ask about a player’s wages because it’s none of my or anyone else’s business imo.
There were no questions from the floor in that regard either ~ and there were plenty chances and time for people to do so if they wished.

So, in your in opinion he was awful, but, that doesn`t mean he was.
The manager has already indicated how good and how important he thinks Dorrans is, so what led you to believe he wouldn`t be wanted?

I don`t know why any Pars fan would want to believe that he was on such an exorbitant salary, especially when it has no foundation in reality. It`s a very strange psyche to have.

All just guess work, really. I daresay that in the past he has probably commanded wages of 20k per week or maybe more, but he may well be on a tenth of that now. Must be quite hard to take depending on your mindset, but he`s worked hard to get the money he has earned. it`s a short career

So what do you think he’s on then da_no_1 ? A guy who’s played English premier league for several year, played for Rangers and capped for Scotland too. Bearing in mind he moved his family from Australia to play football in this country again! Don’t do your usual and put a tampon in and sit on the fence with one of your classic one liners, give us a figure…

FFS you absolute melt. Does "the point" have to punch you in the throat before you get it? "The point" is no-one knows what he earns. As it should be. Is that so hard for you to understand? Just because some bam in The Old Inn tells you something does not mean it`s true.

Aw here he goes with the name calling again, keyboard warrior at its finest!

Well… “the point” for me is a reliable source close to the club told me he’s on £2.5k a week, so I’ll leave it there.

Maybe your source isn`t as reliable as you think?

I mean, if I was one of the people inside the club that knew exactly what the players earned, I`d be unlikely to share that with someone who was prepared to go on .net and share it for everyone to see.

Re-read your previous post suggesting I "insert a tampon" then dry your eyes man.

I can take an educated guess at your "reliable source close to the club"......more fool you if you believe that absolute rocket

A ball hasn`t been kicked in earnest yet but some are saying a particular player is a waste of money without knowing the terms of his contract. Nothing changes.

What does a ball not being kicked yet have to do with anything, are we not allowed to form opinions based on what we seen last season? Whether it’s £2.5k a week or £250 a week Dorrans has been a waste of money for us!

As for keyboard warrior (and in no way is this a threat) but a fair few people on here know me. I`ve been going to the Pars since 1985. My seat is in the Norrie Row R Seat 61. It`s always a laugh meeting folk you`ve sparred with on here. I`ve never thrown a punch in my life at anyone (except my brother 😁) so you`ve nothing to worry about.

Enjoy your Saturday BA
