 Next seasons expectations.

Looking to win 7 out of 9 for each quarter = 21 points x 4 = 84 points which will surely give us the title given the opposing teams we will face. Hopefully James McPake and the team achieve this and get us out of this mess caused by Grant, Hughes and the BOD.

Cant see us winning league with threadbare squad. Still time to add of course.

Think we will make play off`s. Our record in these is....well abysmal.....

Ill make an informed decision after 9 games.

After last season my expectation is zero.

I’m not sure lumping undue pressure on the team in terms of targets is going to help.

I hope they do well…….

In our title winning season we got 79 points, cant see us topping that with this squad, but 84 points would do it. Cove also got 79. I think its gonna be tough, but not impossible. Squad will need improved more to have any chance

If we are talking about expectations today then you would have to say it could be a long season.

But I would expect signing to be made between today and the first league game of the season so my expectations will change nearer the start of the season

I think we will win the league so easily that they will change the rules and let us go straight to the premier league. The queen will immediately abdicate and demand that McPake replace her. People will openly weep with happiness when they hear the name "Dunfermline Athletic".

The CEO and Manager said if we win more games than we lose its a successful season.

If we don`t get promoted it`s failure in my eyes. We`ll have at least the 2nd biggest budget, doesn`t guarantee anything but the manager will have all the resources he needs to deliver.

What the CEO and manager say in public may be quite different from their targets for the coming season. I`d be very surprised if promotion is not the club`s aim but, after the farce around Peter Grant`s time, they`ll be wary of making any promises which could come back to bite them.

Better to say we`ll give 100% every game, win as many games as we can and see where that takes us.

If we can play to the players` strengths and not try and fit the players into a dogmatic system I think there is enough talent in the squad to win the league.

Expectation, though is that we make the play-offs and at least be challenging for top spot most of the season.

Given the relative performances of Airdrie and Montrose last season, specifically that they both accumulated significantly more points than Queens Park; I would expect that their objectives will be to equal or better last season. There will also be QoS and a possibly newly invigorated Falkirk. Whether a newly promoted Kelty will have sufficient competitiveness to handle the above might be a big ask (and even, perhaps, more so for FC Edinburgh).

Then there’s us? …. enough banana skins, I think, to make it an interesting season.

Winning the league is what we need, but I`d be happy with seeing us building a squad of the future rather than throwing money at disposable players to get us up. The ideal situation would be doing both (promotion with a core squad designed to stick together for a few years).

My worry is that we haven’t strengthened much and the boys from last season showed they couldn’t cut it under pressure, didn’t have the fight and weren’t good enough.
Promotion is the minimum expectation in this league but unless we strengthen further it could be a tough one.

I fancy we might be a bit hit and miss to start (hit against the smaller teams and miss against the other promotion favs) but will get better as the season goes on.

Fancy us to finish in a playoff spot. We’re a couple of good signings away from challenging and if we’re doing okay in top half a couple more to beef up the squad in January for a final push.

Always hard to tell at this point, we always do well in preseason and cup games.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

For the long-term future of our club, nothing short of promotion is acceptable. Failure to achieve a swift return to the Championship could be catastrophic. The law of diminishing returns very much applies here; with our cost/income base, we could not afford a second season in this division.

I just want to be entertained after last season. Well clear of the bottom would be the minimum I suppose. That`s how low my bar is this season.

I`m actually totally fine with getting beat a few weeks if we then hump someone. That at least means that we`re capable of creating, scoring goals and playing well at times. It`s more of a problem when you never reach those heights and there`s just a malaise. Inconsistency can be addressed.

We have drifted to 10/3 with bet365 to win the leaque(joint favourites with Falkirk). When I looked last week we were 11/4. Kelty are now 7/1 but were 16/1(you can still get 12/1 with Skybet)

I watched them against Glenrothes in the week and they were poor, only missing two first team plays for the game too. The big CB for them with shaved head was poor and like a cart horse.

Top four i think.

Big turnover of players and not going to be anywhere near the same as last time. We are weaker and up against better teams this time around.

Hopefully still 3 or 4 bodies to come in.

Oh its absolutely possible, but sinse the 2005/06 Campaign there`s been three teams promoted who finished fourth.

Partick Thistle in 06
Brechin in 17
Queens Park in 22

It`s a pretty rare occurance, one that I`d take right enough.

Partick Thistle in 06
Brechin in 17
Queens Park in 22

It`s a pretty rare occurance, one that I`d take right enough.

I think we all know that Grant. You seem to take things too seriously and miss the obvious jollys.

Think that for anything to be considered jolly it has to have some semblance of humour or banter behind it.

Looking to win 7 out of 9 for each quarter = 21 points x 4 = 84 points which will surely give us the title given the opposing teams we will face. Hopefully James McPake and the team achieve this and get us out of this mess caused by Grant, Hughes and the BOD.

27 games played, 62 points. Just 1point short of my season`s expectations, well done to the players and coaching staff in achieving this points total.

It`s only a matter of time before somebody comes on and tells us the present squad isn`t nearly good enough for the Championship!
