Paul Allan with the goal. We dominated the first 20 mins but Stenny have looked quite good going forward. Our outfield trialist has looked quite lively though with a decent turn of pace.

Don’t think we dominated anything Wee Eck tbh.
Stenny have have some really good spells of possession.
We have struggled and we are giving the ball away too often with slack passing.
Trialist has indeed looked quite good..
Our goal was gifted to us on a plate.

a total guess but the keeper might be Ryan Mullen who was released by Celtic. thought we would have seen a wide player by now, at least on trial but obviously not and add in McCann was wearing a moon boot at the game then the need for that wide player/forward has increased even more.
hopefully the knocks Hamilton and Todd took arent too bad.

Im sure some people just make up opinions out of thin air with no actual knowledge of what they are talking about. Matty Todd is by far our best option as an attacking midfielder. Bossed it against all be it Forfar, had a decent performance today backed up with a goal.
Instead of talking pihs actually go to a game and watch the players before making a complete erse of yourself.

I know what you mean, incognito. One bad touch and a player is a `wage thief` or a `charlatan`. Most players need time to develop but too many fans expect instant success.

Nothing like exaggerating to try and make a point, he`s criticised his midfield play and complemented him at RB. Talk about knickers in a twist.
I`m actually surprised to see him in midfield this season, there were few positives to take from the end of last season but Todd at RB was definitely one, he did more in the few games he played there than Comrie did the majority of the season.

Gonna forget last season. Management and coaching as well as attitude (one player can infect a whole group) plays a part in how effective a player is. This season start with a clean slate. Hopefully we can give them time.

Seems the right back is Ethan Vaughan.
He looked good but right back is the one position we`re very, very well covered in.
That that the young lad Young done well at centre back for a 16 year old.

Played further forward than RB the 1st half indeed switched flanks as well, not sure how long he`s on trial for but definitely worth a look again on Tuesday night, he did well today.

Some of the comments on here explain why the club wanted it behind closed doors. I think the boy Vaughan is being looked at to be played wide mid as he did first half. Think Matty Todd looks a player now that he has had a few games. Look forward to seeing
Some youngsters coming through but age doesn`t seem to get you much extra credit with some of our support.

3 senior friendlies, for 10 against 0.
The negativity from some on here is beyond belief.
Hamilton and Benedictus both look comfortable on the ball and if the guy playing 16 is the same trialist that was playing right back at forfar then he would do for me. Everybody getting game time and all look to be enthusiastic. Looks like a fresh start for everyone and a much needed reset.

Just to clarify - I was making a general point about criticising young players rather than a specific one about Todd. We`re likely to see more of the younger players this season so I hope the fans show a bit more tolerance towards them. I know I got better at my job as I gained more experience. Footballers are no different.

On the basis of today there is much more energy in the team than last season but still a lack of creativity. The trialists did OK although the goalie didn`t have a lot to do. Hope they get included against Kilmarnock so they can be tested against higher level opposition.

Yep, I agree. I thought Todd looked pretty natural in that position, and he seemed to be growing into it more every week. It looked like it suited him having everything in front of him rather than being in midfield. McPake seems to rare him highly and sees him in an attacking midfield role, it`ll be interesting to see how he kicks on this year

Stand to be corrected as just watching on a phone in a car, but Ithink it was Chalmers who played a well weighted direct ball forward over the top and down the touchline for the trialist to get out wide and provide the square pass that set up our second goal. On another occasion a similar direct ball forward over the top ended up with our forward just offside. Maybe the coaching staff have been working on encouraging Chalmers to play more direct balls forward rather than slowing play up going sideways or backwards (which he did too much last season for my liking). Big difference from start of second half with our pressing continually leading us to win possession back.

I think a lot of our players last season were coached to play the safe ball rather than risk losing possession which is why we even seen the likes of Dom Thomas playing it backwards from decent positions. I`m prepared to give Joe Chalmers the benefit of the doubt and hope this season will be a fresh start for him. Already the dot net boo boys have got it in for him though.
The guy spent 11 years at Celtic, so the way he will have been taught to play football there, is to be looking to play forward. That`s been coached out of him

How has Paul Allan played in the games so far ?
I was at the Cove game, but not at Forfar, and watched most of the Stenny stream (which is fine, but not the best way to get the bigger picture)
I would say he’s done OK, but nothing special – he was gifted a goal at Ochilview, but he still had to put it away.
I always thought his strengths were more defensive and positional – being in the right place at the right time and keeping it simple. If that’s what he’s being asked to do then he’s doing competently – we’ve had three clean sheets which might say something.

My sense is that Hamilton has been playing as a sole 6 so Allan would be playing further forward, which he did some last season. I thought we played last season towards the end with two 6s so just having one and inverting the triangle should allow us to create more chances.
It will be interesting to see whether, against tougher competition, e.g., Killie, we play with a second 6. Aside from Hamilton, Allan, Chalmers and Dorrans can all play there.
