Pars have offered a contract to Kai Kennedy, Falkirk have offered a deal as well. Falkirk apparently in poll position to sign him.

Has he been a success at any club where he has been on loan? I don`t think he spent more than half a season at any of them - ICT, Rovers, Pars, Hamilton. He promised a lot but rarely delivered.

What type/ level of player do you expect ro come to us at this present time!
Players are no different to anyone else ,they have families to provide for ,bills to pay .
Also taking into fact the surface most our ganes shall be played this season ,some players will not want to play week in week out on astro

What am I missing?
Last month I was reading abt Falkirk being in all sorts of financial bother .
Now I`m reading they`re in a position to offer players more than us ?
We must be in a real mess if they can offer more than us !

I suspect his attitude wasn`t the best, don`t know why, he just had that look about him.

I too am intrigued why Falkirk can offer more than us, anyone care to explain?

Surely he could do a job in League One.

I thought his spells at Rovers and ICT were decent but could be wrong. No idea how he done at Accies but I`m guessing not great lol.

Is he not a bit lightweight for the pub league that we find ourselves in?

For the first part GG it`s been reported in the media, undoubtedly leaked by his agent to stir up interest.

On the second part it`ll be a loan so I`ve no idea where people are getting that from! You`d have to know how much we`ve offered, as well as how much Falkirk have offered.

A couple of comments on Kai

He didn’t impress here last season. To be fair, he was in and out of a struggling team.

If I recall correctly, he likes to play on the left and come inside ? To me, that’s not a genuine wide player. I think we need someone who can take players on the outside and deliver balls into the box from near the bye line.
Do these players exist in the modern game any more ?

To be fair, he did beat Comrie out wide to cross in with his left foot for Moyo’s first goal last time we played away at Hamilton…

I think coaching/instructions from the manager were an issue last year and players should be starting with a clean slate. We have no idea what was being asked of the players by the coaches - who certainly didn’t seem to be criticising them for a lot of the things that we were criticising players for.

If we sign Kennedy, I’ll be interested to see what he does. If not, I hope he doesn’t prove to be better than what we do end up with.

I wouldn`t rule him out, to be fair to the laddie, he wasn`t used properly and didn`t get a proper run in the team, he didn`t perform well at Hamilton either on the games I saw him play.

We have a new manager in and eceryone strats with a clean slate, if JM feels that KK is an option we have to trust his judgement on it.

This may be the step back that he needs to progress further who knows.

All we have to do is trust in our own management team to bring in the players that will play for the jersey and play the way that the management team want them to perform, I don`t think the JM will tolerate any passangers.

I`ve heard a different story. He started really well but after a few games disappeared off the face of the earth. The Raith fans I know weren`t arsed when he signed for us.

The potential is there, he can beat guys for fun but the end product and right decision making isn’t there just now - those 2 things can absolutely be worked on with a youngster tho. I always think of CR7 when I see a youngster like that, he turned up at Man Utd with bags of ability but was a daft young boy diving about, doing 100 step overs, trying to beat the same guy twice and achieving little end product. Before anyone slates me I’m no saying the 2 are in the same league btw!

The one trouble with us is we don’t have an attacker on the coaching staff, so much would he improve if he came back!?!

Lack of signings other than kids is a big problem for me, current squad is likely to struggle in league 1 never mind compete for promotion.

Owners philosophy seems to be gambling with a few experienced pros and hope that they bring the kids on and sell for profit.

For me Kia Kennedy fits the owners plan.

To answer everyone re Falkirk. They have bought in an excellent manager and will have given him a good war chest to get them promotion. Last season they were able to fund Lee Griffiths. Plus unlike us they have never went into administration and probably don`t have the mindset about working with a very tight budget. Due to playing on plastic they will not have to spend much money on training facilities.

Just going by what I`ve read on the forum before, I thought the position is that, because of administration, we are unable to run up debt, whereas other clubs can? i.e., Falkirk are getting into ever bigger debt to pay the wages for players that we can`t afford because we`re not allowed to go into debt? If that`s right, it`s simple int it?

The trick, it seems, is not spending loads of money on individual players, who may or may not blend in to the group, and provide value for the expenditure but the ability to form a coherent unit from the 11 disparate individuals on the pitch. Dick Campbell seemed to have succeeded in doing that last season. What special insight do brilliant man managers have to recognise and develop the latent talent in each individual player? Some of the greatest managers were such quiet and unassuming types. Jock Stein would hardly have come across as a world beater in a job interview but had that special insight and ability. We will soon find out I suppose, if the current squad have that latent talent and whether the management team can bring it to the surface in the coming season. Let`s not sign players just for the sake of signing players but add thoughtfully to enhance the current squad.

So 30-35k is classed as not much money aye? and that’s so they can train on grass and not plastic they and been in league 1 for what 4 seasons now so they will definitely have the mindset of working with a tight budget the club is hemorrhaging money left right and Center but they can still pay more than us???? Looks like Rangers are trying to get rid of him

He`s been out on loan for a while now, with no real effect- first couple of games looks great, then you realise he has no end product or effect of whatsoever.

Been bumping around the Championship, now League 1 which says it all, there`s no way the parent club wants him playing at this level after 3 years of loans

I will not be in the least bit surprised if he does well in this league, but no Championship club was interested and certainly no Premiership club were (which if he bothered to develop his game he would play)

Unlike some on this site I do not comment on any of our players’ abilities or lack of ability: firstly, who am I to judge, and secondly, it’s disrespectful and potentially demotivating.
Since Kennedy is not signing for us however I feel comfortable in agreeing that he has potential but is also very much the unfinished article. When he was with us I enjoyed some of his mazy, attacking runs; that’s what he was good at. But inevitably they led to nothing. It was like he ran out of ideas after a few yards, and seemed not to have the vision to either pass or cross the ball.
What he did do - far too often, and inevitably unsuccessfully - was dive to try and win a penalty ……… and that became really irritating.
Quite glad he hasn’t come to East End, though that comment may return to bite me in the bum!

Would rather give young boys we have a shot rather than the dross (including Kennedy) we had to put up with last season. Doesn`t mean we don`t need players; we absolutely do need more bodies in. Just saying not really fussy at all with that one Falkirk have pulled off. Don`t think there is much difference in the squads tbh.

I appreciate it is slow this season for a number of teams in terms of signings but it`s also beginning to get tight in terms of timescales. Don`t want to have to rely on any of the young boys. Fingers crossed we get a few in soon.

Have to agree with you. Maybe finances are extremely tight. Dorrans staying doesn’t help, on a decent wage for zero return.

When the chairman done his interview a few weeks ago he mentioned we would have one of the largest budgets in the league and at that point Dorrans was still a dunfermline player.

So why now do folk keep referring to Dorrans as the reason we are struggling to sign anyone honestly he gets some stick for no reason.

I think Kennedy would be an asset, especially in league one. It`s a shame we couldn`t get him as we badly lack wingers at the moment. Hopefully we can get another 4/5 for a bit of depth in the next few weeks.

We are skint. Two more signings max , both loans.

Think the early season gloss may wear off soon……

Players like him quickly get a name among referees, so that they tend to ignore them and are sometimes even denied good shouts. I remember this happening to Joe Cardle in a game v QOS, when he was denied a stonewaller purely on his reputation.

"It`s a shame we couldn`t get him as we badly lack wingers at the moment."

its another one gone from a very small list of options in general and in wide players, which is a big problem.

2 weeks till the first league game and we currently have 13 first team players available for it (Dorrans injured, Hamilton suspended), can only hope at least a couple of signings happen before then.

No just us. Morton have 7 players and Imrie has been told to use the academy players. He`ll walk soon.

Ok I`ll bite. Why? On what basis. He did nothing at Raith after a decent first couple of games. 1 decent game at home to Queens with us plus the worst dive I`ve ever seen in the flesh at Hamilton and hardly set the heather on fire when he moved to Hamilton.

He`s still young I suppose but how many opportunities does he need to prove he has more than just a few tricks.

Not what we need but no doubt he`ll burn up the league and you`ll remind us every time he scores 😁

No evidence whatsoever that we`ve missed a trick here

What did he start 5 or 6 league games, he was miles in front of anyone else in the 3-0 home defeat to Arbroath the game after the QOTS match.
Given the vast majority of last seasons squad have been forgiven for their efforts it ought to have been the same for Kennedy given he actually showed some ability in the very limited time he was allowed to start a game.

The "vast majority of the squad who`ve been forgiven" had to be. They were under contract.

He reminds me a bit of Paul McMullan, has the ability to go past players for fun, occasionally has a great bit of quality but doesn`t quite tie it all together.

I think going down a level, playing against worst defenders, and playing in a team that offensively will be on top most games will see him do well.

McMullan had two dissapointing loan spells at Morton and St Mirren before he came to us, and even then he only scored a couple, it was obvious he looked good though and just needed to sort out his decision making and final ball.

We`re also currently lacking in any sort of wide player, I can`t think of any players that are available and that I rate higher than Kennedy? McKay or Fitzpatrick also would`ve been good but we`ve little chance of competing with championship sides.

We could do with a couple of wide players and at least one centre back (ideally two) to complete the squad.

If ability is running blindly up the middle of the park and not even lift his head to see what was happening in front of him or which teammates were available to pass to before running into trouble then throwing himself to the ground then aye you are spot on 🤨

I`m surprised Jordan never asks the manager about potential signings in his interviews. I wouldn`t expect him to identify specific targets but maybe how many additional players he`s looking to recruit and maybe in which areas.

Who cares, he’s signed for Skumkirk. He was a one trick pony and he was too easily eased or the ball
