You couldn’t tell who plays in the 3rd tier of Scottish football & which team plays in the 4th tier but one thing for definite is that the ref obviously officiates in Sunday league games

Thought exactly the same seeing the lineup before the match had kicked off.
At least the trialist down the right offered width in the last friendly he played.

We have come unstuck many times at Bayview over the years, good to get a win, on now to Tuesday. McCann will score a lot of goals at this level.

Hopefully this win will boost confidence overall. It would be nice to see some of the other “strikers” getting on the score sheet, though: we don’t want to end up as a one trick pony.

Fully deserved, the EF keeper pulled off a couple of excellent saves in the SH. FH non event. SH Pars shifted up a few gears after 50 mins & it was one way traffic. The fullbacks pressed high & we dominated the midfield. As soon as the goal went the confidence grew & we dominated the game.
Thought Todd was excellent as was McCann.
Well done McPake for all the pre-season work we were streets ahead in terms of fitness towards the end.
Kudos to the chap in the away support that had a go at the Pars fans criticising Chalmers - Give him a chance.
Good start………

First half was like a kick-about in the Rex park absolutely shocking , no width no shape , 2nd half we picked it up and got the job done , still need a few players in if we have title aspirations , the bonus was Matty Tod , covered every inch off the pitch looks to have bulked himself up a bit great game , a few more like him would be enough

Disappointed not to see toddy(ST) on the pitch today thought he would have given more that wighton ,he looked in interested at times today, it`s a shame as last week when he was put into midfield I though his passing and creativity was really good.

RMG it`s only a good thing for him and also the team if he`s good in more than one position tho and I agree one to watch. I think this season will be good for us as it will bring on our youth ten fold.

Thought it was a very comfortable performance that could have been a lot more if not for the East Fife keeper.
First half was a bit of a struggle with Hamilton, Todd and Chalmers all playing deep but with Hamilton pushing further forward in second half it gave us more options. Thought Chalmers deliveries from dead balls created our best chances in the first half. Special mention to Comrie and Edwards who both looked excellent.

That`s the first time I`ve been at an away win for almost 2 and a half years, so that in its self was a nice feeling.
Have to say I`m not that keen on these group games which mean such an early start to the season. Squads all over are nowhere near complete so I`m not really sure of the value of the games. After a good first 10 minutes, the rest of the first half was played like a friendly.
The first goal came after a decent spell of pressure, a spell of pressure that looked like it might lead to a goal. The penalty was probably the right call, though one of those where I always feel bad for the defender.
Not sure how I feel about that shape - Hamilton seemed a bit deeper than the other two in the first half with Wighton being the forward player who would most often drop off into midfield, though they all did it a bit. Hard to gauge today, but will be interesting to find out if that midfield arrangement can be competitive over a season. It might be, but will likely need quite a bit of support from the forward players.
The style of play looked OK in the main. There were some long, dull periods of short passing, but it certainly wasn`t the passy-passy pihs-pihs stuff of Grant and Hughes, with some longer passes and more direct play mixed in.
Last time I was at Bayview, I stood on a temporary scaffold terrace behind the goal, facing directly into a gale-force wind on an already cold day. Just a little warmer today, though I still prefer winter fitba!

Lots of positives -
Benedictus led the team well and EF were never able to mount any sustained pressure.
Breen seemed slimmer and more mobile.
The full backs bombed forward at every opportunity.
Todd had loads of energy and looked more solid.
McCann embraced the physical side of the game and gave as good as he got.
Hamilton is a little terrier you`d rather have playing for you than against you. He`ll pick up a few bookings though.
I`m not sure what Chalmers did that was `awful`. My main recollection of him was making a timely intervention in our box in the first half. Wighton was like a fish out of water on the left and would be better played centrally I think. McPake obviously rates him so I doubt he`s going anywhere.
Good to see Andy Tod senior in the crowd to see his son make his competitive debut for the Pars.

Marty Todd looks like he has matured into a first name on the team sheet, superb today (my MOM) but plaudits also to MCCann and O’hara who put in a superb shift
Todd looks like he could be a player who is capable of stepping up in class, his spell at full back last year was like watching Jackie MaCnamarra progress when he was converted to Defence from midfield
Andrew Todd is a new cult hero, it was fantastic to see the reception he got from Pars fans when he came on the pitch, still a bit spindly but if he puts some time in at the gym he could be a fine player

My first live game in three years. Good post from Angus W. Their keeper had some good saves -especially one reaction save low down close to him in the second half. We dominated the second half. While Chalmers sometimes passes sideways or backwards too often for my liking, he wins a lot of headers and his inswinging corners repeatedly caused EF trouble (and first goal ultimately followed from one of his corners) . Paul Allen was a bit more direct when he came on. 14 shots to 1 stats show how Pars dominated. The ref was poor and very lenient when EF continually broke up our play with physical fouls. Agree we need midfield boosted with addition of more width but in the end a comfortable win against a physical stuffy EF side. Benedictus and Bree did well and the former had some beautifully weighted balls over the top for strikers to run onto in first half. Agree with 1970 re Matty Todd. Paul Allan also did well when he came on,

Yes agree about Matty Todd there is a player there. If he continues to progress and gain experience a few clubs will be looking at him at the end of the season. He has tge look of quality about him.

I think that’s proving to be a wise decision and one perhaps made with league one a possibility ?
