This season, let’s stop pointing the finger at the manager and start looking at some of the wasters in our squad. There’s a reason why most of our squad didn’t get a game for us last season and unfortunately Mcpake is stuck with some of the absolute ***** in the squad. He might need another season before he can properly clear out. As that squad won’t be winning any promotion unless 4-5 additions come in

We won`t be winning many games with the current squad ! never mind going for promotion

The owners will not throw money in to get us promoted. Their money is going into an academy right.

They have said there`s a 7/8 year plan designed to establish us in the Premier league.
So if we don`t go up this season it`ll still not be a disaster, like last season when we went down.
What would be worrying for them is if after 2 or 3 yrs of this academy running, we aren`t progressing in bringing home grown talent into the first team.

So they are heavily relying on the management and academy teams to get this right...no quick fix cash chucking on the team, its not the German way and we need to accept it.

Have to agree, academy producing players to take us up is pure fantasy. Tough season ahead with the garbage served up this afternoon.

Agree that McPake is stuck with last season`s dross but did he really think it was a good idea to replace Hamilton with Chalmers?

Well, why do you think we`ve got one then ?

McPake will get some money but not as much as he`ll expect and he`ll have to spend it wisely I`d imagine.

We`ve not managed to produce many good youngsters in the past, let`s hope this works

I’d imagine he took Hamilton off as he’s suspended for first 2 league games so was maybe to get the other 3 used to playing with each other. That being said, that midfield 3 wouldn’t be good enough at this level

Like yogi people gave him the benefit of the doubt as he was saddled with a team of chancers. Problem was he then signed even more chancers and was terrible tactically so the fans were right to turn on him at the end.

Mcpake should be given time as he’s lumbered with both grants and yogi’s signings. The only curveball here is if he signs about 6-7 players and we still look hopeless come Christmas. But then what else can we do.

Mcpake going nowhere, half this league we’ll have too much for, it’s the games against the other 3/4 teams at the top that will make or break us.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

It`s a game we should have won, same as last week but we did create chances and we didn`t lose. Too early for the doom. There will be additional players before the window closes.

We need to be more clinical. Wighton, Todd and McCann should be a scoring first half

“We need to be more clinical. Wighton, Todd and McCann should be a scoring first half”

I agree with this 100%. We could, and should have been out of sight by the time Alloa equalised - how, in Lord’s name, we contrived to miss so many gilt edged chances, no one will ever know. I like Lewis McCann, and I love his honesty and effort, but he still has to be more clinical. His flying header in the box, right in front of our fans, was a perfect example, and you could see his frustration - he knew himself that he’d fluffed his lines here. It happens!
It’ll come though, the team look to be working hard. I was annoyed at full time today, annoyed and frustrated, I reckon all Pars fans felt the same. Nonetheless, let’s give the guys the benefit of the doubt along with our full backing next week. A win of any kind in the opening league fixture would be so, so restorative for us all, fans and players alike.

We should have got a second as we were dominating with so many chances. Credit to Alloa for heroic defending and getting so manly blocks in.If we had scored a second perhaps we could have gone on to score a couple more but we lost control of the game after they scored. Frustrating to the miss out on qualification due to penalties. However syill early days and hopefully the manager can boost the squad and possibly move on a couple.

Its about honesty and transparency. If you are not honest you ďont address the issues. There was too much of that last year. You have to hold the mirror up and take a good look. I think McPake did that. Start as you mean to go on.

Or, and I know this isn’t the way things are done on here, rather than pointing the finger at the manager, or players, or individuals, maybe we could try getting behind them, giving support and recognising that the reason they are playing in League 1 and not the Champions League is that they have limitations and make mistakes?

Is it possible that getting behind them and encouraging and supporting might just possibly be of more benefit than shouting / typing abuse and constant criticism and negativity?

Footballing folklore has many instances of squads of players (teams) being utterly useless …. complete duffers; but, with changes in various aspects of ‘the team’, turn their fortunes around.

In recent years, both Livingston and St.Mirren have experienced horrendous seasons in the Championship …. St.Mirren managing to avoid relegation / Livingston not. But then going on to promotion to the Premiership …. pretty much with squads that were not significantly changed.

Whether or not JMcP has the means and opportunity to change the squad could well be secondary to whether or not he can perform his own brand of magic; find tactics and formations that gets the absolute best from the guys pulling our beloved black & white strips on every Saturday.

What we need is a team that is greater than the sum of its parts. Guys that ‘really’ take pride in that shirt; players who work for each other; footballers that are hungry for success; professionals that will dig deep and fight harder when everything (especially the refs) seem to be against us.

Changing ‘who’ pulls on those shirts might help, but we’ve made the biggest change. It’s now up to the new gaffer to write his chapter(s).

C’mon the pars!

I think he needs to ditch the 4-3-3 for now as he doesn’t have the players to play it?
If he can make some additions, then he can go back to it.
4-4-2 would be better for now and give the side a better balance

Mehmet
McDonald Benedictus Breen Comrie
Todd Hamilton Chalmers Edwards
McCann O’Hara

Dorrans for Chalmers, when fit
