According to Brian Rice `the wind caught it`! It may have been a fluke but I wasn`t aware of much wind today. He thought the result was `a travesty`.

Definitely looked like a cross …. Most of ‘the shots’ just about cleared the McCathie stand.
Always thought Higgie would have scored a lot more goals for us if he’d just passed the ball into the net …. rather trying to melt it.

Can only assume you weren`t at the game if you watched McCann and concluded he just jogs about, hardest worker on the pitch by a country mile. The guy got cramp and got back up to do 50 yard sprints, also put one on a plate for Todorov who`s effort was embarrassing.

If I wasn`t at the game why would I say from my position in the Norrie .yes I saw him go down .but I still think he isn`t the answer as the main striker .

I thought McCann put a power of work in and won balls he had no right to win. Compared to Alloa`s main striker, Connor Sammon, I thought our front man was much better.
I also was behind the goal in the Norrie and didn`t think the ball was over the line.

Based on the 18 minutes they’ve played together as a front 2 yesterday? Could be wrong, but don’t think I’ve ever seen them play as a pairing until then. Except maybe the Morton game, when we brought on McCann late on and he scored the equaliser? But we were committing everyone forward by that point, so hard to call it a pairing.

Exactly. I have seen top class players over hit a cross, put one over the cross bar and hit the first defender on many occasions. Certainly not easy to cross a ball into a dangerous area when running at speed.
It is frustrating when watching a game and players duff a cross ,especially corner kicks but far better players than currently grace EEP do it regularly.

Agree the crossings been woeful, but it was the case last season as well… what I’d like to see is a few near post runs from the strikers to get infront of the first man… Mcanns movement in the box needs improved

The crossing was garbage . Ironic that our goal came from yet another awful cross .
Matty Todd admitted himself he was turning away in disgust .
You could get as many men in the box as you want but if the ball goes flying over their heads and out for a throw in on the other side of the park , what`s the point .

Clearly playing too much FIFA and has changed his controller config. So now when he wants to do a cross he needs to press the button for a long range shot.

Agree most crosses were poor especially Macdonald but the movement in the box was pretty poor too.
There were 3 or 4 good balls in also that OHara specifically, could have been on the end of a couple but didn`t make the run.
As for McCann I`m sorry but he has no striker instinct in the box

McCann is similar to Dykes. Bit of a nuisance, but not much end product. He would benefit with Wighton beside him I think in a different system.

Scottish football in general is awful for crosses. I actually think to improve the game we should ban the cross. That was we never have to suffer them.
A corner is a cross and i no free kicks out wide would fall into that category, so i appreciate there is some flaws to this proposal.

Yes agreed. Crosses in the first instance should be difficult to defend against. The striker needs to move towards the ball thats being delivered. A well delivered cross normally results in a poor clearance to the edge of the box where players should be looking to pick up the second ball.

The quality of crosses is so bad we should ban them? I presume that`s a wind-up.
My point earlier (Mon 16:46) is that potential recipients can turn an average cross into a good one with their movement. Playing one central striker doesn`t help unless midfielders are making late runs too.

Potential recipients would`ve needed to be in the NW or main stand on Saturday.

If you look at Robertson for Scotland 80% of his crosses are either over hit or fail to beat the first man. And he is hailed as one of the best in that position.
