Kick off timings later in season ?

I heard a suggestion on "Off The Ball" that clubs in the lower tiers might review kick off times in order to reduce floodlight usage due to soaring electricity costs.

Anybody picked up on this elsewhere in the news ?

Quite often the floodlights are on long before natural light runs out. I`ve never understood that. Is it because clubs are not allowed to switch the lights on at half-time?

It would make a great deal of sense to bring the game times forward a couple of hours at least to save electricity costs. I remember Ross McArthur mentioning the cost of putting the lights on a year or two ago and it was phenomenal.

As we move into the northern winter, and the clocks change, the earlier the games are, the happier I will be. Otherwise, Saturday 3pm for you means Sunday 2am for me...

Makes sense mid day kick off to save on floodlights although in a Scottish winter floodlights may be required then for some games. also better for fans not sitting in the freezing dark and also not making their way home in the dark.

They can switch on the floodlights at HT, I don`t think it is allowed when the game is in progress though.
