Good. I can`t believe the club haven`t pursued this sort of thing in the past.

We get money in exchange for calling the stadium something slightly different. Purists can of course still call the stadium by its original name if they wish.

Everyone`s a winner.

Ormiston Par, I am far too busy googling companies for our canopy for the DASC DONATION SHOP for which we have the go ahead from the Chairman and the Stadium owner. Ha! Ha!

It will be interesting to see if all the SRJ branding around the stadium remains in place.

I really don`t see how this can be viewed as anything other than positive?

We get a bit of bonus cash, KDM get their name everywhere (The gaffers are Pars fans through & through I believe) & none of us will call the ground anything other than EEP.

The only people who will use this name are the Sportsound reporters if/when we return to the Championship. The only place I hear some of these ridiculous new stadium names is on the radio or on Sportscene.

Also, the fact that East End Park is still in the stadium name means there really is nothing to complain about?

Hopefully it’s a decent amount and helps with this seasons squad!

Presumably the sponsors think they get some financial benefit from it or they wouldn`t do it but I doubt these names register for long with the average fan, if at all. How many times have Livi changed the name of Almondvale? Does anyone know what it`s called now?

I`m sure it would be one of the first areas David Cook considered as a way of raising funds and it will help to pay his salary!

agree totally with da_no_1.

whether the money involved goes in to the playing squad or general stuff at the ground etc, its a welcome boost.

looking further ahead and while there have been delays with the training ground, wonder if we will see a similar thing with that.

Excellent initiative and as others have said most supporters give their renamed stadiums their original name.

Having David Cook at the helm is reaping rewards for DAFC.

`It was the Toni Macaroni, the last I heard wee eck.`

You`re right, Paralex. It has been the Tony Macaroni Arena since September 2015 but since it was built in 1995 it has also been called Almondvale Stadium (twice), City Stadium, West Lothian Courier Stadium, Braidwood Motor Company Stadium and Energy Assets Stadium.

A sound move - any sponsorship which benefits the club makes sense.

Unless the offer comes from a morally dubious source - for example, Newcastle fans were divided on the Wonga shirt deal if memory serves.

Not really fussed what it`s called (though Livi one is hilarious) but pleased they`ve kept East End Park in the name.

Like others, I`m surprised it`s taken this long.

They have actually, OP. I know for a fact that both Ross McArthur and John Yorkston before him, tried to sell the stadium naming rights but no sponsor came in with a reasonable offer.

Anyway, better late than never. Hopefully, KDM will give the Pars a bit of money up front which will allow us to bring in 2 or 3 new players. 🙂

In an ideal world we wouldn`t need this and the sanctity of the stadium name would be preserved.

But.

1. It`s a Pars fan who has invested time, effort and money into the club before.

2. We`re in a cost of living crisis and any extra cash is so, so welcome

3. We`ll all still call it East End anyway.

Like the fan humour in the spaghettihad nickname 1985Par but any adjustment to the Pars song might require the employment of a more polished lyricist.

‘In an ideal world we wouldn`t need this and the sanctity of the stadium name would be preserved.’

Sanctity is a big word and to be honest the name of our stadium is hardly resonant. It distinguishes itself from West End Park which is out by Pittencrieff and used to have a drain cover near the penalty area. But for all its limitations, the name EEP is not something to be sold to the highest bidder despite the enthusiasm on this site. We’ve sold the jerseys and now the stadium. Maybe time for discreet advertising on the playing pitch itself, to garner more revenue?

‘1. It`s a Pars fan who has invested time, effort and money into the club before.’

So what? Being a Pars fan is no guide to moral character or intent. Think about who you have stood alongside on the terracing in your time. As Bob Crampsey famously said, ’I enjoyed their company wouldn’t let them through the front door of my house.’

2. ‘We`re in a cost of living crisis and any extra cash is so, so welcome.’

There has been a cost of living crisis since I was born in 1954. The difference is that to watch football you can no longer do so on the wages of a paperboy as I did when we were playing in European football. This sponsorship money might bring in a better level of player but that will be a short term fix. What do we do after that? Rename the stadium to a higher bidder if there is one, Livingston style?

3. ‘We`ll all still call it East End anyway.’

We will. But our grandchildren might not. They might not even go there. If it still exists.

You could if you were a paperboy now though since an U18 season ticket costs £50

When sammer and I were paperboys, it cost 2 bob (10p) to get in and a tanner (2.5p) for a programme. My weekly wage was 14 shillings (70p) so I had plenty of change left over.

The newspaper shop/post office at the top of the dockyard steps paid the best rates, also the tips you got were fantastic, beware the OMO packets though!🤔😲😎

The first game I was at was Pars v Dundee with Charlie Dickson and Co, just before they won the cup in 1961 and it probably cost my dad one shilling to get me in. But I reckon the paper and milk boy wages were better in Glasgow because I could watch our games at Ibrox, Parkhead and Firhill quite easily on my 25 Bob a week milk round. Scotland games at Hampden were never a problem either. The bottom line is that football is the attraction, not the name of the stadium and if we serve up the goods, the fans will continue to come.

Plans approved for new signage on the stands to highlight the name change. Going to be a sizeable sign added to the front of the main stand. All looks very nice, though I`m not a big fan of the KDM logo (too busy for my liking).
