 K£LTY
Topic Originator: dafc123

Hi All,

I must admit i am slightly worried about this one. K£lty know as a drinking town...fans will be tanked up on the day and to be quite honest....i put this lot up there with Falkirk and Oakley.

This will easily be the most ferocious crowd at a K£lty game in years due to the competitive aspect as well as derby.

Can Police Scotland reassure there will be maximum protection for both fans?! i dont think they can.

Could turn nasty is all that im saying. K£lty have destoyed the footballing heritage of Fife. And I, for one, will make sure they know about it.

Why would it be any of that? It`s not even a Derby FFS! The unlikely situation of us being relegated and their dealer pumping money into a league 2 team means we will cross 4 times domestically in a league and never again.

I dont understand how people can have the slightest expectation of it being ferocious 😂 it`s a round 1 cup tie min! Buckie away will of been more of a "ferocious derby".

Falkirk & Raith are our only derbies and that will never change.

Kelty is a derby, Falkirk isn`t.

“K£lty have destoyed the footballing heritage of Fife.”

I’m at a loss to understand what this means. Yes, they’ve had a few quid to spend courtesy of an enthusiastic backer, but this is not a previously untrodden path. They have come up via the nationally agreed pyramid system, so no argument on that score.
Why this has tarnished the football heritage in Fife I simply don’t know.
The thought of the need for greater police protection on Saturday hadn’t occurred to me either.
In all, I agree with others here that the OP is complete drivel.

I can almost guarantee that most of our fanbase know nothing about miner strikes or Kelty being known for scabs. I can also guarantee that most who do know about it don`t care. This isn`t Glasgow - we don`t lose our crap over events from a long time ago. If we did we`d be raging about those priests setting up Kirkcaldy as a port of Dunfermline and thus putting down the foundations that led to the formation of Raith Rovers.

Edited to add - an ex-manager of a part-time team in the SPFL (allegedly) used to hire guys at his work if they were decent footballers and sign them to the club. Nothing dodgy about it and it wasn't Kelty.

It is a derby-defined as being ‘a rivalry between two teams in the same area’.

As a boy I watched Dunfermline play year on year in Europe while Kelty were in Crossgates and Dundonald.

They are a success story and we have been a shambles from top to toe for far too many years now.

Respect them whatever their provenance for, like it or not they have succeeded where we have failed.

Kelty are every Pars fans favourite other team, indeed we now wear a tribute shirt to them as an away top.

The Dunfermline Press has a wide coverage of The Maroon Machine every week and I always remember Kelty being a Pars stronghold over the years.

Police presence no way they should do away with segregation and let us stand shoulder to shoulder with our Fife brethren, I will be disappointed if there are no half n half scarves for sale outside the ground.

Aye, I don`t expect anything other than friendly banter. I`ve been to a few games there over the years and everyone from the board down to the fans give you a warm welcome. It`s a well run club with a nice, well kept ground and great social club. Hopefully none of our fans turn up like their going to Shadwell away.

I think they are struggling to adjust to the next level.

^^^ Rugby is a gentleman`s sport.

I have often been to matches sitting next to and amongst opposing fans with fun, excitement and the love of the game in their hearts.

The camaraderie between the fans is superb.

I can recall sitting next to a bunch of South Africans wearing Springbok tops in Kilts with both nations flags painted on their face and singing every word to both sets of national anthems.

Scotland won that game for the first time in 48 years and the South Africans were very dignified in defeat and gave all credit due to the winning Scottish side.

Eh? What was stopping you from going for a pint with Alloa, Montrose or Edinburgh fans?

The Rugby atmosphere is a nonsense, loads of people who haven`t the first clue about the sport just rocking up so they can get a picture on Instagram with some #BackingBlue #AsOne for good measure.

Easy to banter about the game when you don`t have the first interest in it and are just there for the social media aspect.

Give me a Fife Derby over any nonsense atmosphere at the six nations.

Football fans are segregated for a reason.
Of course there are lots of fans who have friends supporting other teams and the odd establishment where the clientelle are welcoming but it isnt generally done. It is actively discouraged.
All im saying is matches at Kelty are not volatile

Aye well Cowdenbeath lol. There was eons of history there. Having said that, when I drove taxis in Cowdenbeath I had a lot of good natured banter with their fans who knew I was a Toonie.

We have just always had a good relationship with Kelty. Lots of us watch them and a kinda friendship developed. I dont think the current competitive edge will destroy it. No doubt there will be some eejits but thats fitba.

I don`t have any friends who support Alloa, Edinburgh or Montrose and I`d feel totally comfortable going into a pub with there fans. You are far more likely to attract aggravation at this Kelty game.

I predict there will be Zero chance of trouble at the game Saturday. There may be a few kiddy on hooligans at the game, but I can’t even remember the last time I saw trouble at this level. English championship and the lower leagues down there is where it is rife. Saw it a few times last season when I’m in London and I will go QPR games.

That’s not true grant… loads of knowledgable people follow rugby and many other sports where there’s no need for crowds to be separated.

Edinburgh and Glasgow average what?

No idea of Edinburghs average attendance but Glasgow warriors average is 5455.... And that`s down on previous seasons

I used to wonder why , unlike football, it was possible to go to rugby matches and then join opposing fans at the pub afterwards and have some good friendly banter. Kelty to me is in the latter category.

There`s plenty of folk not interested in football that go to football games for the same reason you`re forgetting.

Football fans are segregated for a reason.
Of course there are lots of fans who have friends supporting other teams and the odd establishment where the clientelle are welcoming but it isnt generally done. It is actively discouraged.
All im saying is matches at Kelty are not volatile

I don`t have any friends who support Alloa, Edinburgh or Montrose and I`d feel totally comfortable going into a pub with there fans. You are far more likely to attract aggravation at this Kelty game.

I would agree with those teams but I think Kelty are in the same basket.

The only likelihood of trouble this season will be Airdrie and Falkirk, mainly away. The other teams there will be friendly banter the way it should be.

This thread was created as a form of me promoting my worries and hatred for K£lty.

It seems that it has been infiltrated by potential Kelty season ticket holders who i once thought were Pars fans.

It has also been turned into a Rugby forum?

I would like to request this thread to be removed as i have now had reassurance from Police Scotland via Twitter that there will be an increased Police presence at the game.

I have spare tickets that i wont be needing 25 roughly if anyobody is looking for them.

Talking about opposition supporters, it was nice to see so many Montrose supporters in Legends on Saturday.

So you bulk bought a load of tickets for a place that you hate, to give money to a club that you can`t stand in a venue where you`re so worried about violence that you`re Tweeting Police Scotland to see if they`ll protect you?

Sounds plausible.......

Using an offensive term, insulting to disabled people, to describe other posters is not `quality`.
