OK folks could maybe get some pelters for my post, however here goes. As most of you know I am a very old Pars Fan, and seen it all, done it all. Seen some hairy stuff at Brockville, BUT this is NOW and not then. Let`s forget about the past and everyone enjoy the game and that`s what we are going for. We need help our lads on the pitch so forget about any other stuff please.
Have a nice day everyone.

There is an age old rivalry with Airdrie which often happens before and after the game. I think today the old rivalry will still be there.

Looks like a draw. 1-1. That would keep us in close contention while we pray for a player or two to come in and transform us into a solid team with more goals. As long as we don`t lose to our main rivals it`s not so bad.

12 Rhys Breen
3 Josh Edwards
5 Chris Hamilton

Subs:

8 Joe Chalmers
14 Lewis McCann

Frenetic start so far, we had three decent chances but have had to clear an Airdrie header off the line from a corner. Shades of Alloa.

Feels more like a 442 this time and finally wighton comes out, pointless playing while not 100% fit, hopefully we look more like scoring today.

Would like to see toddy and o’hara get a run of games together, you’d think they could compliment each other and both have done well at a higher level.

Playing ok in spells but nothing to show for it.
Nothing coming off the high balls to Todorov. O`Hara very disappointing.
Having said that we should probably have scored 2 thanks to the midfield but lucky not to concede.
Might just be me but there is a worrying amount of space for them in front of our defence.

Good game for a change. Played better than we have in recent weeks. Airdrie deserved a goal. We had enough chances to win that today but I`m not too disappointed as still unbeaten and if we start putting these chances away we will beat most teams.

Apart from first 15/20 mins and last 10 Airdrie saw most of the ball, without looking a threat with it. We really struggled for long periods to keep possession in the attacking half. It looked to me we were playing a 4132 set up with the midfield very narrow. How badly we need someone to carry the ball forward and to beat his man.
Agree with Cammypar that its a poor position to be in if pur main attacking threat is long throws from Edwards.
Much work to be done in completing the squad.

I thoroughly enjoyed today’s game. Both teams were good in spells, and I agree completely with others here who felt a draw was a fair outcome. I too will have to watch the disallowed “goal” on playback - all I can say with certainty is that the ref blew in good time, and I knew the outcome before it hit the net.
One observation from today is that we still need to work a bit on our distribution, we underhit a number of passes this afternoon. Still, good value for the fans today I thought, and both sets of supporters added to a good atmosphere.

The same has to be said about the squad being light. Keep hearing it.
It`s a good solid start to the season but inevitably suspensions and injuries will come round.

I thought we deserved to win. Better chances, and pinned Airdrie back for large spells of the game. If Airdrie is the best this leaugue has to offer, then we will be promotion favourites.

Pars were good today. Game was great.Would go every week if thats how all our games were . Think we shaded the game overall and deserved the last minute goal that was perhaps wrongly ruled out. August sunshine helps too. Still light a couple players but the board have got to realise this is a manager and team worth backing. (In comparison to our last two managers ).

I think that shows that Toddy and McCann need to be our strike pairing. Toddy was much better with Lewis playing up too with him and that’s when we caused them the most problems.
I didn’t think it was a foul on their keeper, just typical “protect the keeper” ref mentality.

We were ok today but it was a fairly entertaining game. We need to learn how to put the ball in the net. That`s two of the three goals at east end came from absolutely nothing even though we have wasted decent chances. O`Hara`s one on one attempt was awful and he had so much time on the ball. I thought our positioning was poor at the back today. We have Airdrie far too much space and in the end we were punished for it. Very annoyed we didn`t win this after going 1-0 up as I think defence has been our strong point so far this season. The goal chalked off at the end was a disgrace. I still don`t know what the ref blew for but he couldn`t wait to blow this whistle.

The next three fixtures will give us a clear indication of where we`re going to be. Without a few signings I`m pretty sure Falkirk will win the league comfortably but I hope I`m wrong. We still badly need width and another striker who has some composure.

According to Sporting Life stats it was 53-47 % possession to Pars

12 - 5 attempts at goal Pars

and 8-1 on target Pars.

Should have won according to those stats..’.’.

Think we have almost bypassed midfield in the last two weeks and some of the balls up to the front men are difficult for them to hold up to a midfield that seem 10 yards further back than they need be.
Edwards and MacDonald put in decent crosses and are the only players we have who are willing to take a man on.
Just praying we hold on to Edwards in this window.
If Wighton and O`Hara are both out for a couple of weeks we are short in every area of the park so here`s hoping the hard work in identifying players reaps some rewards.
Not hard to see why Airdrie are at the top end of the league but if you give McCabe 20 yds to do what he wants he will more than likely open us up.

isnt a foul at the end but we shouldnt have to be hoping for a referee`s decision to win games, needing far better quality in midfield and up front if we are to have any hope of winning the league.

Maybe not, but if we score a legitimate goal, it should stand whether in the first minute or last.

It`s an official`s job to get that right, especially in a league with no VAR and especially in a tight game - those 2 points could haunt us at the end of the season through no fault of our own.

Disappointing end to what I thought was a decent game - their goal was superb, it has to be said.

(Agree we desperately need some more players - very lightweight bench today)

Onwards - still unbeaten 👏🏼👏🏼

COME ON YE PARS!

Really entertaining game, with two teams trying to pass the ball forwards but not scared to go long rather than play endless to-me, to-you football across the back four a rare sight at EEP in the past five seasons. Well done McPake and McCabe. We should have taken one of the four chances in the first fifteen minutes, a fairly even game then until we dominated again at the end and had chances to already be ahead when the final incident occurred. Edwards and McDonald gave their full-backs a torrid time, the latter seems now to deliver a decent curled chip with his left foot when he cuts back in as well as the quicker, flatter delivery with his right when he bulldozes straight down the flank.

I think Cammy Par had the wool pulled over their eyes last year if they thought that squad was anywhere near promotion challengers regardless of who the manager was! I would say we have one player who is potentially Premier League or better but that’s it.

On todays game… i thought it was a decent match with both teams trying to play although I thought Airdrie were slightly more pleasing on the eye than the Pars and as others have said felt it was decent value for money and a good advert for football at our current level

The 3-5-2 left us exposed a few times and the defence/midfield struggled at times to cope with Airdrie’s movement especially late runners from midfield and on another day they may a got in and scored more than once. Thought defensively Todd and Mochrie were poor at times which left the 3 centre halves and Hamilton a little exposed. I’d have been tempted to sacrifice Todd when chalmbers came on but on balance I’d say McPake got it just about right again with his subs. You could also argue the case we did enough to win although we seemed to lack a wee bit composure in the final third with the final cross or pass lacking a little despite a decent press and playing well off second balls etc.

I’d strongly disagree that long throw ins were our only threat although suspect this is just the usual over reaction when we don’t win. Actually thought for the first time this year we are maybe on the right track as previous games have been less than inspiring. A couple more in the door and we’ll be in the shake up for promotion hopefully.

Excellent game really enjoyed that. Swung end to end with both sets of players giving it everything. Impressed by Airdrie, fast paced, clever movement & lots of interchanging in their attack. Their goal was a peach, we didn’t handle the wide crossed ball & the knock back - it was a rehearsed move & caught us right out. The whole team fought well & we were a bit unlucky with the goal chalked off - but that’s the way it goes.

I’d like to see a couple more in but I’m really enjoying the football at the moment - keep it going Pars!

Quite a good entertaining game today. We had some good chances to score in the early part of the game although they missed maybe a couple also in the second, by the way did anyone think one of their efforts might have been across the line in the first half, couldn`t tell from where I was sat. Edwards and Mcdonald were excellent today but we did tend to give them a bit to much room around the edge of our box. Their goal was a fantastic finnish. I think they will be up there at the end of the end of the season.

Never a foul

If anything it was Airdrie players that were “impeding” their goalkeeper. Ludicrous decision :(

Level par, Sat 27 Aug 20:32

If you read my comment again I never said I thought the team was good enough for promotion last year. Every time any pundit spoke about Dunfermline it was always the squad they have are good enough to win the championship. The 2 charlatans we had as so called managers said the same.

c'mon the pars

The good points for me yesterday were Mochrie showed he is a good footballer and will be an asset to us and Edwards once again was our best player and is really standing out. We will struggle to keep him if he keeps playing like that. As for criticism on here about relying on his long throws, why on earth would you not use a weapon like that? Each throw is like a corner and caused panic in the Airdrie defence every time we had one. We scored from one and had another dubiously chalked off. Begs the question why our previous managers did not use a weapon that was at their disposal. Oh, I remember, they were useless.

Agree 100%, CrossPar. Edwards has been outstanding so far this season and Mochrie offers us something different in midfield. He likes to take players on and can `see a pass`. He made mistakes yesterday but I`m sure he`ll improve with experience.

I was pleasantly surprised at what a good watch the game was from first to last. As a Pars fan, I thought we were unlucky not to edge it - I can`t see why that goal was chalked off right at the end. The more objective part of me thinks Airdrie would have been hard done by if they`d left without a point. They were obviously happy with that, with all the play acting and time wasting after they equalised.

Some things never change. I remember a game in which they had 2 players sent off - Innes MDonald was one - but the 9 men managed to hold out for a draw, with a combination of feigning injury and kicking the ball out of the ground. 🙁

Didn’t feel like at the game that we were poor, must’ve been watching a different game to others! Thought we were the only team trying to win it and the change in formation made us create more chances. Of course we need players in but the board and manager have both stated this and already said we aren’t signing just anyone, I see that approach is paying off for queen of the south. Few players in and I’m confident we can do very well this season

Their goalkeeper was wasting time from the kick off. I’m sure they’ll be delighted with their away point.

Same old Pars for me, can’t beat the better teams in the league. Hope Mcpake pulls 2-3 signings off before Monday. We are very close to a league winning squad.

That was a better performance, and a much better game. It’s always interesting when you start the same eleven as finished strongly the previous week – often it doesn’t work as circumstances are so different, but I thought we had a much better balance about the team. We started well, but again couldn’t score. Airdrie looked pretty decent, but couldn’t score either when they had their wee spell of dominance. They looked liked the happier team at the end, which tells a story.

The division is beginning to take shape – Airdrie are probably the second best team I’ve seen; Falkirk will be a danger, and I thought QoS might have got their act together better – but if we can make a couple of additions we should have every chance.

I was a bit disappointed in Mochrie – he looked a bit lackadaisical at times, and didn’t see enough of the ball – when he did get it he looked a threat. But the bench is very light. I think sooner or later some of these lads are going to have to get flung in the deep end, even allowing for a couple more signings.

You could look at it another way and say we are second top and haven`t finalised our squad yet. No team has outplayed us over 90 minutes either despite our shortcomings and not having a settled team. Sorry for being positive,

Hang your head in shame that’s far to much positivity but then again I always fear the worst whenever we play that shower yes playing so well and only getting a draw is disappointing but 4 months ago I would have bit your hand off for a performance like that

Come on ye pars ⚽️
