Talk of kick offs being moved to 12 or 1 to ensure ability to play in daylight. Makes sense tbh

No real reason other than TV matches not to start matches 11.30-12. Some games start then anyway for TV. Problem being even in winter lights can be needed early. But a genuine issue for all clubs in Scotland at all levels.

If we have to go down that road then every single penny we`d normally spend on floodlights should go on the biggest loudest **** the torries banner we can put up.

Maybe I am just being stupid here, but my basic physics tells me that lighting costs next to nothing when compared with heating.

I worked out that it would cost about 50 quid to put the floodlights on for a game. Undersoil heating would cost thousands, though. Even heating the indoor parts of the stadium would costs many times more than running the floodlights.

You`d have to show your working on that one. I think you`d also have to know how much kw/ph that floodlights cost. Remember there is no price cap on how much businesses can be charged.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Weren`t the bulbs updated to LED last season when they discovered the floodlights were knackered?

1pm would be fine. Any earlier and it would probably affect the crowd with the number of kids that play on a Saturday morning.

Club will be loosing money with the constantly running hot tap in Legends.

Tried turning it off 2 weeks ago and eventually gave up, reported the fault, hopefully a plumber has sorted it as the boiler will be running non stop.

I think we need about 1.2 million lumens to light the pitch.
If 1 watt is about 80 lumens, that is a total of 15kW of power for LED floodlights.
At 50p per kWh that`s less than 10 quid an hour, which should be less than 50 quid for a match day.
If we don`t have LED lighting then it may indeed cost more.

Your figure is way off, each 1kw led flood is around 140,000 lumens, there are around 12 floods per column x 4=48kw in total

I`m almost certain we have LED , big upgrade last season.

Not sure about the costs, the stadium still needs lighting, heating etc regardless of kick off, also floodlights might still be needed if it`s a dark day.

Read the Accrington chairman today saying the savings would be minimal, I think maybe cost savings are to be found at much smaller grounds, or much lower down.

Apologies for the miscalculation.
If we do indeed need 48kW then that will cost about 25 quid an hour to run.
That is probably a lot less than most people think.

Serving cold bridies might save the club more!

Bussparkpar, I`m with you. However it`s when it`s dark and raining that I have problems. Then my son drives to his home in Kincardine and then I only have to drive to Alloa. If you eve need a lift give me a shout.

Remember that no price cap on businesses so you don`t know the rate we will have to pay.
