 Goal Line Technology

Interesting that Huddersfield were denied a goal because Hawk-Eye wasn`t working.

It`s one of the risks of being reliant on the tech - the ref isn`t going to call it a goal unless he gets a notification, but did he know the tech wasn`t working? If he did, and decided it wasn`t a goal, that`s fine - but there`s a very high chance he was relying on a signal that was never going to be come..

More issues with tech in football...

Just watched the video of the `goal`. The ref taps his watch saying `no notification, no goal` so clearly wasn`t aware that the tech wasn`t operational. That`s the problem with being reliant on tech....it doesn`t always work.

Goal line technology works 99% of the time which is far better than pre tech. It was a hard one for either ref or lineman to see so can understand them relying on the tech for that decision as neither would have been able to see it.

The point is the tech wasn`t working - and the ref didn`t know it wasn`t working. That influences his decision making - no chance he`s gonna give a goal when, as far as he knows, the tech will do that for him.

If the tech wasn`t working, he should have been made aware.

Even though rare I think it would be worth having a notification on the watch if the system goes offline and a manual decision is required. I`m sure this wouldn`t be very difficult to implement.
