At least Celtic caused Madrid a few problems early on last night but Rangers are getting torn apart

Celtic could`ve been a couple up last night. Madrid were never out of 2nd gear though. Rangers are on a downward spiral.

Just hope not another embarrassing display from Hearts tomorrow.I expected close defeats in both others as top sides but not thrashings.

Real are a top side, no question but haven`t Ajax lost some of their best players recently? Not that you would have thought that if you watched their game tonight. It could easily have been 6 or 7.
Liverpool not doing too well either. 0-3 at half-time and Napoli missed a pen and an absolute sitter.

While due to finances no other team will ever challenge old firm
In Scottish league. This is where both teams come up against it, champions team is elite levels, even Ajax spend eye watering amounts compared to Scottish teams. However would love to be in there being Pumped by Real Madrid and Ajax while we are being pumped by Arbroath

No inquest or thoughts on Lolerpool then? Or is it only embarrassing when it`s Scottish teams?

The most embarrassing thing was the standing ovation Celtic fans gave Modric when he was subbed. Desperately wanting a pat on the head from the big boys.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Speak for yourself, dafc. I don`t want to see the Pars pumped by anybody. 🙂
As a wee aside, every year I see teams in the CL that I was lucky enough to see the Pars play - and beat - at EEP. e.g. Dinamo Zagreb. (We beat them 4-2 but went out on away goals and Dinamo went on to lift the Fairs Cup - forerunner of the UEFA Cup.)

Celtic were excellent in the first half, but they missed their star striker Furuhashi who is so quick and confident in one on one situations. Hit the bar too. Second half Maeda missed the kind of chance he normally puts away.
If they had scored first they wouldn’t have had to keep chasing the game and they tired towards the end.

Pure theatre. And the best thing is, there`s still another ten games between them to go.
I hope they both get pumped in every conceivable orifice.

Maybe a tad harsh on Celtic - they more than matched Madrid first half. Watching the game it did look like Madrid had another gear to move up into but in the first half Celtic did well & could easily have went in at half time 1 goal up. Maeda should have scored before they did.
All ifs & buts to be fair but that wasn`t anywhere near the absolute pumping Rangers got last night. No fight, no desire, zero threat & totally outclassed. Joyous. Then listening complaining about the gap in finances..........oh the irony!

I`d imagine their fans forums will be bristling with rage and indignation. We Arra Peepol, ken? After the debacle at Parkhead, some were suggesting McGlauchlin should never play for Therangers again. He wasn`t great but he didn`t get much protection from those in front of him.

Without putting too fine a point on it, the `bad things come in threes` trifecta might be completed before they get to Pittodrie on Saturday.

This sort of thing annoys the hell out of me. Yes, Rangers are a big club, but one of the massive reasons the Scottish League attracts little money and is arguably less competitive than many leagues is the Old Firm! For decades they have had an unfair amount of say. They`ll always be the biggest two clubs but positive changes to the league structures have been prevented so as to ensure they can have at least four games against each other. It`s a total joke.
BT/Sky etc every year going "shall we show Hearts playing Motherwell AGAIN?". Games would mean more to fans if there were fewer opportunities to beat their rivals.

`At £14m, the total cost of Rangers` starting XI was the fourth lowest from matchday one of the Champions League, only ahead of Maccabi Haifa, Viktoria Plzen and Shakhtar Donestsk, with Celtic two places above with £28.5m and Paris Saint-Germain the most expensive at £533m.` (Daily Record)
