What gets me is people having artificial lawns! What`s that about? Then they complain about flooding.....

Can`t imagine it`s much of an issue in the UK. Hose it down if hot.
Never sure about the effects of those wee black rubber bits and the long term effects of the dust they produce.

Best thing I’ve ever done for the garden, no idea where you get the flooding idea from 🤷🏻. We had flooding with grass, none at all with synthetic which is infinitely more practical with 2 dogs and a small child.
Dog mess is easily spotted and cleared up and if it rains it’s drains away immediately and completely dries incredibly quickly. Garden is pretty much in constant use now which would no way have been even remotely similar with grass.
On synthetic for football - hybrid is clearly the way to go and I think this is what every club in the English premier league has.

I suspect you`d have the same drainage improvements if the original turf was laid properly. The issue in Duloch has been clay soil. The builders chuck a tiny bit of top soil on the clay and turf it.
Most astro has proper drainage channels put in, which is how you solve drainage with clay soil.
Completely agree with the benefits with dogs though. Nothing worse than lifting a slightly soft poo off grass. Much easier with astro where you can hose it after.
