Hard one for the fans to chant though….

Panic stations, barely kicked a ball in his career so far so will be very raw, hasn’t featured regularly for rangers B or u21’s either. Could be another coley or could be half decent but this is a massive step up in level either way.
Big risk and for me not the quality that’s going to definitely improve the squad as mcpake has been stringing us along saying that he’s been looking for these last few months. It’s another body in the squad though I guess.

Probably, but it`s getting late, it`s at the stage where we just need bodies - even to fulfill fixtures. Quality doesn`t want to touch 3rd tier Scotland seemingly.

Pretty underwhelming to be honest, hopefully more to come of a better pedigree.

Re Berkey`s post -
It`s quite difficult to make sense of that gibberish but I think I get your gist. Why would the manager be `stringing us along`?

C’mon wee eck it doesn’t take the brains of Britain to realise we’ve been strung along that there is money there for ‘quality’ but absolutely no1 bar a young boy playing in the lowland league who wants to play for us.

I`ve never heard of him far less seen him play, but I reckon the fact that rangers gave him a new one year deal in the summer and are loaning him to us rather than having him playing in their B Team in the Lowland League suggests he must have something about him. Give him a chance

I`m content with those signings. Need to be realistic with where we are, even if these guys aren`t the finished article, if they have qualities which we can use (Pace for chasing a game late on etc) they`re good.
They don`t need to be world beaters at this level, McPake has been at Motherwell games aswell so he`s obviously watched Mahon, I don`t think it`s desperation when it`s been in the pipeline for a bit.

How is it the manager`s fault if `quality` players don`t want to play for us? According to social media we tried to sign Robbie Crawford and Niall McGinn, two experienced players who had played in the Premiership and the Championship. Crawford joined Morton and McGinn opted to stay at Dundee. There may have been other offers which weren`t publicised.
It would appear that the pursuit of quality players continued until today when Plan B was adopted. This comprised signing a couple of young players from Premiership clubs who are two or three years older than our own youngsters.
Who should we believe - the manager and CEO or some punter with no inside knowledge who hasn`t made one positive post about the club he supports in all the time I`ve contributed to this forum?

Wide players was the pressing need and that`s what the manager addressed. If they have quality, they will get ample game time.
You can never be sure that you have enough cover in other areas -- remember Liverpool the season before last with lack of defensive cover because of so many injuries. We have some cover in all areas now so I`m satisfied with the business -- better late than never.
Good luck to the new players on loan, and welcome to the Pars.

Personally, I’m quite excited about these signings. We’ve been crying out for pacey, wide players to add that dimension to a solid team. It gives the manager new options to change formations, especially if we are chasing games. It will take a few weeks for them to settle and for the current players to adapt to whatever the manager puts in place on the training ground but I see it as a positive step forward and I look forward to seeing how it all develops in the coming weeks.

People like Berkey remind me why not to come on here often! We sign a young talented player from The Rangers that is spoke of highly at the lower age levels by players, coaches and by the fans but we have to listen to complete uneducated peoples stupid assumptions when they`ve never seen a player. So for future reference Berkey please do some research before spraffing sh1te.

How did he get on at Clyde last season?
People seem to forget that we signed fringe players like Wilson and Nicholson from Rangers in the early 2000s. Both slightly more experienced but not by much. That was us playing in the Premier League. We`re in the first division now so these guys are probably of the right standard.

It was the season prior he was at Clyde (20/21) his time on the pitch in League One totalled under 70 minutes.
It`s definitely a could be anything loan, Kai Kennedy we had last season from Rangers and he didn`t go down too well (I actually thought he showed the much needed creativity we lacked).
Of course give him a chance, let`s hope he shows himself worthy of a start or we`re in a position to give him an opportunity but to suggest he might be raw and that this is a step up shouldn`t be construed as writing off the player before he`s kicked a ball it`s just how it is.

I see that another player rumoured to have turned us down, Logan Chalmers, went to Ayr Utd on loan yesterday. In addition to Crawford and McGinn mentioned above, Mackay of Hibs who we had enquired about went to Inverness. If you don`t ask you don`t get and the ambition has been there and been backed by the Board but it`s a reality check on being in League 1.

The reality is that any player at a certain stage in his career will see playing in a lower league as a backward step. There has to be a benefit and the balancing act for the manager of any individual is to align the goals of the individual with the business or club to the benefit of both.
The reality of our situation is that we are only going to attract players ascending in their career at an early stage. Personally for me I think many 18-19 year old players should be looking to play first team football. I do think the Academy is a conduit for our club to develop young players in a controlled environment to guide and develop them into players who are knocking on the front door of the first team at that age. We shouldnt really be having to look for loan players further afield. Ultimately what is the point in that. We will never develop and progress as a club.

The risk for these guys is they go down all this way and NEED to perform otherwise it`s like "they weren`t even any good in league 1!". But it all comes down to the team. Graham was awful for us but went on to be decent at Dundee Utd in the league above. A lot of comes down to the team and the confidence. I was pleased to see Matty Todd talking about the mental health initiatives at the club.
