I went along – it wasn’t a great game – basically two evenly matched teams, neither allowing the other a lot of time on the ball. This may be a function of the plastic pitches (and possibly the coaching).
I guess we deserved the win as we scored twice – Breen from a free kick at the right edge of the box – he slammed it into the wall, and it deflected into the far corner. The second was from a Macdonald cross from the bye-line which Sutherland seemed to mis-control before quick feet allowed him to score from a tight angle across the keeper.
We were Little in goals, Hamilton as sweeper, Young at RCB, Breen LCB; Macdonald RWB, Hoggan LWB. Looked like 4 in midfield – Macleod, Beagley, A Tod and Ritchie-Hosler with the latter two occasionally getting further forward to help Taylor Sutherland up front.
Latter subs were Reid on at HT for Breen, McDowell for Beagley, Jake Sutherland (not long turned 16) for his brother and Rennie for Macleod.
I thought Hamilton strolled it and Macdonald looked good in the first half (but disappeared into the mist at the far side in the second). The highlight was listening to Gareth Evans’ frustrated exchanges with the nearside assistant and the latter’s assurance he would pass on his comments to the ref.
