 Forfar on Saturday

It would seem it`s unallocated seats, why can`t season ticket holders who used to get this game free some years ago , at least get to purchase their own seat .
Especially when we now have a ticketing system where you can pick your seat you want .

but it’s not your seat, it’s only your allocated seat for games that are season ticket valid

Bit of a relief really. It`ll be nice to put some distance between myself and the serial moaner who sits behind me in the Norrie.

You can get hospitality (one course meal) which includes match ticket, for £25 (£19 concessions).

Why should the club open 3 stands for a game that won’t even fill one stand? Pretty stupid to waste costs in these times

Not often I say this, but that is very poor from the club.
To not have the North West open is a really poor decision.
Still time for them to change this decision.

Other than certain games, the home crowd would fit in the main stand every week, so should we just use that going forward and not use either of the Norrie or North West?

Wait so you are telling me a 3rd round Scottish cup tie when the team are playing well and winning games only merits two stands being open for home fans regardless of who we are playing what planet do you live on?

I was always under the impression that the main stand held 4000 fans, therefore every home attendance other than Kelty and Falkirk would`ve fitted in there. Maybe the Airdrie game as well (4399) but there was around 400 Airdrie fans that day.
Of course I could have the capacity wrong. I always thought it was 4000 main stand, around 3000 in the Norrie and Cowden ends and 1900 in the other given the total at around 11900.

Capacity is apparently 11380

Norrie 3500?
Away end 3500?
North 2500?
So Main 1880?

I think it`s around 3k behind each goal, 2.3k or so for whole of North and around 3k for main. Used to be more in the main stand before the enclosures were shut.

The club will presumably open the stands that have Stephen`s catering units in them as they pay a fee (presumably) for the spots.

Shame for the N.West guys but surely they could congregate in the corner of the Norrie?

Makes sense to have two stands max.
Anyone grumbling about not being in the NW needs to remember it`s not all about them and there`s a wider issue here.

Figure most often quoted for the Main Stand is just over 3,000 (think it`s something like 3,028?). The away end is slightly bigger than the home end due to the tunnel but each is also about 3,000 and the North is about 2,200 total IIRC.

Think it is Norrie 3100, away end 3300. NW 1100. NE 12/1300.

So Main must be around 2500/2600.

Dave Mackay says he`s hoping all four loanees will be available to play on Saturday although they are still waiting to hear from Motherwell re Robbie Mahon.

Paul Allan has had surgery on his foot and will be out for another 5 or 6 weeks. He said O`Hara and McCann should be available by the end of the year.

Surely using the Mahon calculator, Mochrie would be binned after the first half v Falkirk , give the guy a chance , especially in not the most attacking set up .

Guy on P&B saying 3 of the loan boys aloud to play on Saturday , Motherwell have said no.

Cant imagine them thinking he is going to play for them so can only assume they are keeping their options open to him being loaned out elsewhere.

Funny how things change Mahon was in front of the Rangers boy for weeks but after his start that has all changed.

How hard is it to understand that Premiership clubs loan players to clubs playing at a lower level in order to help their development? They are far from the finished article and are likely to be inconsistent but can still contribute something to the borrowing club whilst gaining experience themselves.

seeing "optimistic" and "hoping" in Mackay`s interview is at least a positive but as he also says the clubs can change their minds.

Mahon cant play for another Scottish club this season so unless Motherwell are going to play him themselves in the second half of the season, there is no reason to stop him from at least being named in the squad.

Mahon played for Motherwell in the Premiership. KRH has played for Rangers in the Lowland League this season and Fisher has played for Dundee in the league cup.

Only player we have on loan that can play for anyone other than us or their parent club this season would be Mochrie.

Forfar are the worst team in the four divisions based on league placings so the gulf in quality between the two teams is vast and that will be shown on the pitch tomorrow and as for your question I have been at every game this season except from the Celtic B game

Not anymore, I don’t think. If the winners have already qualified, 5th place in top flight gets a place in Europe rather than cup runners up.

I think we`re all playing quite well, just a bit ponderous bringing it out from the back, and the Forfar boys are no` standin` watchin`- they`re pressin` well at times. It`s good to see us breakin` forward from half way at times.

I`d rest Edwards now - because he`s got another booking.

We weren`t at any point playing 4-5-1 and Forfar are pretty poor. I am increasingly annoyed at McPake not putting on the likes of Tod and Sutherland though. Bringing on Todarov (and it looks like Hamilton and MacDonald now) is pointless when we are 3 up. We know what they can do. And it runs the risk of one of our starters getting an injury or a red card. If this isn`t the time to give them a run, then when?

Good performance. Result was never really in doubt. Patient start, just waiting for gaps to appear. Opened them up, scored a few. Then we kept going, whilst they parked the bus. Could have scored a few more, but got the job done and we’re in the next round.

KRH the standout performer, although none of our players did anything wrong at all - some just had nothing to do (Mehmet).

the only criticism of the subs is not using the 5th when Sutherland came on, im sure Young and Tod will be ok though.

agree with Parfect69 on the tackle on KRH who had a good game, hopefully he is alright. win the tie, in to the next round and on to next week.

Would certainly have taken that before the game and it`s always weird in a way after a win like that to feel very little. It was pretty dull until we went a goal up, and I was finding the slow stuff utterly frustrating as it was producing nothing. However, suddenly there was a good ball in and well-placed shot in the corner, and from then on we didn`t have to do too much. Second and third both came from breaks of the ball, something we haven`t had too much of when we`ve been in good areas this season. 3-0 up at half-time having not really done much was a good outcome, and from then on Forfar seemed happy to sit back and try to avoid a really heavy loss while we were quite content just to keep the ball. It was a boring second half to watch, but meant we were able to win without it taking anything out of us so I`ve no problem with it. One point of note in the second half was that the one time we played a long pass, we scored from it.

One thing I don`t understand when we`re doing the slow stuff at 0-0 in the first half (as we`ve often done this season) is that we seem desperate to take restarts quickly, but then when we get the ball in play we slow it right down, making the quick restart pointless. And we also had the issue today of thinking about attacking before we`ve done the defending. I know I say this often but it does annoy me.

However, for all that we were easily the better side today and deserved to win conmforatbly, so well done to them for going out and doing what was needed. One amusing thing worth note was the referee blowing for half-time with pretty much no injury time despite two long injury stoppages and a sub. Quite idfferent to the world cup!

It was the big round of the cup (I forget which round under the new format – I note that the East of Scotland Qualifying cup competition still exist although I’m not entirely sure why) and you would expect a mixture of gubbings, comfortable wins, close matches and the odd shock.

Whilst secretly hoping for a big win (particularly against lower league opposition) it is usually claimed that the aim is just to get in the hat for the next round. Given we have had an abysmal cup record over the last few seasons, I think the draw was kind to us – a home draw against a team 19 places below us, who are struggling. So pre-match I was anticipating a comfortable win and after scoring relatively early, that was what we got.

I love a bit of pedantry so happy to agree that the formation was 3-4-2-1 (at least until the last substitution when it was more 3-4-3, I thought). I often think it can be difficult to accommodate the likes of Mochrie and KRH in the line-up – they are needed creatively to break teams down, but are weaker defensively. In a match against a team that might struggle to offer too much offensively I thought it made sense to play them and, assuming his injury isn’t too bad, I hope KRH can start to contribute more. After the calamities of last season, the very thought of having three at the back used to give me a touch of the vapours, but I think it’s probably now the preferred option.

Wighton seems closer to his best – an exquisite finish for the fourth (and had his attempt with the outside of the foot late on found the net it would have brought the house down). Todorov in contrast seemed almost to be tripping over himself in his eagerness to score – he’s got a few now, so no need to get anxious, unless he’s worried Wighton will overtake him as leading scorer. I note that for all our possession and passing our goals came from a give and go and cutback from the byeline; a long throw; a quick passing move starting with the keeper; and a long diagonal ball.

It was good to see Sutherland get a brief run out – I would like to have seen Tod or Young get a few minutes as well, but perhaps it was less easy to fit them in.

I don’t really fancy Darvel away – Stirling Uni or maybe Drumchapel in the next round for me.

I see it as a positive that a team scores different types of goal. Ask different questions of a defence and you tend to get the sort of answers you`re looking for.
