The Ayr v Pollock game is on the BBC Monday night so I`m assuming the draw will be made after this game and assume it will be shown.

Best draw would clearly be Drumchapel at home. If we got the Tovers at home we`d get a good crowd and it would be a good test. Might even get on TV although a 3pm kick off would be better crowd wise. Probably get Morton again though as we usually seem to get.

Drumchapel Away would be interesting!
Darvel Away would be a huge banana skin.
Rovers away would be a good day out with a huge Pars support.

I understand the desire to play a big team, good for the bank balance and all that but I struggle to get on board with it myself.
It’s the Scottish Cup, the one competition I continue to dream of us progressing far in, getting to another final and the memories of being ahead with that Skerla goal.
Becoming a bit of a shame that fans aren’t dreaming big and focussing more on what’s financially beneficial these days. Totally understand it but for me just takes away the shine of what being a fan is all about.
Give me Drumchapel at home please, and as easy a draw as possible from there on in, eventually the big games will come.

League 1 clubs didn`t acquit themselves too well yesterday, 7 knocked out and only ourselves, Falkirk and Alloa going through. if Ayr win tomorrow all the Championship teams will be in the hat with all the Premiership sides so no easy games there. I think I would go for any of the 3 League 2 or 4 lower league sides at home. The lower league pitches are usually a leveller so hopefully avoided.

Having passed through Darvel a few times I must say I don`t see its attractions as the venue for a day out. It was the birthplace of Alexander Fleming though.

For me, league football is a confidence and momentum game and right now we have both and are flying in the league…
While drawing an old firm team away might be good financially, for me, theres too big a risk in going there and getting skudded five, six or seven nil can’t help but dent that confidence and momentum which could derail what we’re achieving.

Went to see Tranent play Darvel. Bit of a dump, but the pitch is pretty decent. Saw Stirling uni earlier in the season. Thought they were OK. We`d hammer both.

Absolutely spot on. I really don`t like putting money before ambition.

I would agree with the ambition before money comments if we were challenging in the championship but where we are just gimme the money. Then after reading DBP`s post re confidence I have capitulated. Can`t argue with that post.

Home game against a non top flight team please. Would be good to test ourselves against a team like Raith (and get a good crowd!). Would also be equally happy with any team further down the pyramid than us (as long as it’s at home). I’d like to see us get a cup run before a big pay day. Don’t want one of the other league 1 teams.
Financially, I appreciate there would be value to getting a money spinning game in January - could increase the January budget… but I’d love to see us get a cup run.

Would have preferred a trip to a less well known wee ground or against a big team. Anyone but a team from our league or the championship would have done. As it is we`ve drawn a team we`ve played loads.
It will however be a really good test of whether we are actually any better than last season. Patrick will be playoff contenders in the championship and we know exactly what their strengths and weaknesses are so a decent marker.

Can`t see many, if any, major upsets in that draw.
Darvel will make it difficult for Aberdeen, who have a habit of losing to lower league teams, but the difference in class should be too great.
Similarly for Linlithgow Rose v Raith Rovers.
Otherwise the results all look predictable, which (hopefully) means all the minnows will beat the big fish!

It probably won`t teach us that much regarding our progress since last season because our last 3 results against them were a 1 nil defeat in the cup at Firhill, a 4-1 victory at home in the league and a 1-0 defeat at Firhill in the league.
After a bad run of 6 losses on the trot Partick have stopped the rot and won their last two games by a score of 3-0. I watched their second last game against what is now a very poor Arbroath team and the 3 nil scoreline was quite flattering to Thistle. I would expect a very even game with a narrow victory for either team. But the home advantage will favour them. With Lawless and Turner playing every game just now, I do hope we can put on a show and progress at their expense.
