Does the new window open on 3 January? Some existing loans seem to expire on 2 January.

El Mhanni was the guy who accused Peter Beardsley of bullying and discrimination at Newcastle. He must have skills though, he`s been used as a body double for Neymar in adverts

I don’t think so. They work in the care industry specifically now and are relatively small in recruitment terms. I’d suggest the rumour that they are paying full time wages goes a long way to explaining why

That`s interesting but I wonder how long they could keep doing that. There`s also the problem of keeping the full-timers occupied during the day and the possible resentment of their team-mates that they`re getting paid less for the same commitment.

It’s young Pink that sponsors them as he’s the manager. He’s also senior manager at Avenue so that’s the link.

I wouldn’t want them at EEP.

It could give them more time to train than the other players.Every club has players on a higher wage than others for the same commitment, so I don`t see that as being any more of an issue for them.

If we keep the four loaness we have can we sign any more this season?

Another point has occurred to me re Arbroath and their wages. When the Covid support money from the SG was distributed a fixed amount was paid to each club based on which league they were in. The amount paid to Championship clubs was quite generous I recall, no doubt recognising the fact that most clubs were playing full-time wages. Arbroath was the exception of course so their money would last a bit longer and they may still be benefiting from it now.

Problem is he might be earning more part time than we can offer him for full time at this level. Would be a coup even if he had a small fee release of like £100k in the summer he would help get us over the line this season.

But yeah for a team like Salford he’ll be cheap enough to be worth a punt….

Think quite a few clubs, including us have been looking at Allasan Jones. Ex-Dundee United youth, having a very good season with Bo`ness

He`s scored 7 for Kelty in 13 starts this season and they are second lowest scorers in the division. If he continued that ratio he would near enough score 20 for Kelty so reckon he could hit that target with a team providing more chances?

Its an interesting point da_no1 makes, it recent times under AJ, SC and last season, it feels like we always needed a January rebuild of something. We brought in off top of my head Polworth, Chalmers, Donaldson, Ambrose, the Goalie dude. Just too much, and i get why cause Watson left, connolly left, PG signed dross, but it really is not enjoyable seeing the club scramble around like this.

It happened with Aj too, starting one season with Nat/Shiels, both of whom barely played and we ended with Vincent and Beadling.

So im glad to have a team/squad that feels complete that i can just enjoy for this season.

I would be happy for some reinforcements if the right player of course, but for me less is more in this window.

Hardie signed though after Steven Bell got a season ending injury if i remember rightly so was more of an urgent signing. We also lost Willie Gibson that January, though admittedly didnt sign a direct replacement for him.

I agree though that is an example where it worked well, Hardie and Rusty were a big reason for our success the second half of that season.

Mochrie confirmed as staying.

also in the Courier, contract talks have started with some of the out of contract players, no names or how many exactly but take your pick from Mehmet, Comrie, Macdonald, Breen, Edwards, Chalmers, O`Hara, Todorov and Wighton of those that are out of contract.

I would agree with that red star, there’s a few such as Todd and edwards who should be tied up if possible but a few of the more experienced players struggled against the better clubs last season and I would think they would struggle to make the step up again. Can see a much changed stikeforce for next season.

It’s much harder to get young loans who are up to championship level meaning we need solid experienced players in key position positions.

Depends on what the aim is next season I guess….

Berkey Maybe a few of the players that struggled last season , it was due to tactics and line ups of the 2 numpty managers we had at the time and some of them hardly got a game , and it knocked the confidence right out of them
It`s maybe I , maybe no , who knows but just an alternative angle

FWIW I tend to agree with Raymie that the poor performances last year were more to do with bad management than bad players.

Problem we have now is opening contract negotiations when we don’t know for certain what league we will be playing in next season. Pretty hard to entice a player to extend his contract or indeed offer him significantly more if we can’t guarantee Championship football next season. Only when that is confirmed…..or not can players agree or not.

There are about 3 clubs in Scotland who know what division they’ll be playing in next season, yes that’s not ideal for future planning but we’re no worst off than most, and indeed better off than many, there are others who have both relegation and promotion being possible at this stage

An interesting summary of what goes on behind the scenes of a transfer in Scottish football.
No great revelations, but it does demonstrate the pressures on a club with limited HR resources, particularly if two or three simultaneous transfers are being negotiated.

I know for a fact that Sam is really enjoying life with the Pars. If Dundee don`t extend his contract at the end of the season and McPake wants him, it won`t be difficult to convince him to sign for us. 🙂

Tough choice between Grangemouth and Florida...

Kennedy`s problem, with us anyway, was that he thought he was still a The Rangers player. He seemed incapable of understanding that throwing himself to the ground no longer meant a free-kick was definitely coming.

I think I could get a game in that league. Will be on good wages too. You`d need to be tbf, because the chances of getting your arm ripped off by a crocodile go up significantly compared to Grangemouth. Your chances of being shot decrease compared to Grangemouth, so I`ve heard...

Dundee have taken Barry Maguire on loan from Motherwell until the end of the season. I`m not sure if he`s a midfielder or a defender but he`s 24, 6` 2" and a Scotland under 21 international. I can`t imagine he`s going to sit on the bench. Could this clear the way for Sam Fisher to return to EEP?

I liked the look of Allan in the game where he scored twice, a right menace.
The lad Meekinson seems to be well regarded at Tannadice.
Falkirk pushing the boat out as I don`t think failure to get promoted is a viable option for them.

they have maybe improved their squad but it doesnt change our situation and what we need to do. looks like the nonsense McGlynn comes out with has rubbed off on most of their fans mind you from their reaction.

back to us,

https://dafc.co.uk/story.php?t=Manager+on+Thursday&ID=14198

so maybe news by Saturday, similar stuff to the summer but whether its by Tuesday or the extra loan window in February we need another centre half and one other at least.

Really? I thought he looked a right wee annoying d1ck if I`m being honest and faded badly like the rest of his team 2nd half. Time will tell but I`d rather go with our squad than theirs

Can just imagine the comments on here if we signed a striker from the team at the bottom of the league too.....

Think the Dundee Utd boy will be interesting, seems well regarded and arguably a better prospect than Mochrie. The others are the kind of signing you expect in January - bit of a punt and they`ll probably he decent but they`ll be hoping they hit the ground running.

It seems like it. Allan scored a decent number for Clyde, but making the step up from PT to FT mid-season is tough. Be interesting to see how he gets on. Also worth pointing out that they’ve weakened our opponents this week by signing him.

Worth remembering as well, they signed Gary Oliver in the summer - in recent years, he only seemed to score against us. Did nothing against anyone else.

Jordan Allan done well against the best defence in the league playing with a team in the relegation zone.Playing in a team with better players he will have more opportunities.
I think he will improve he`s a decent signing for Falkirk.

Just been looking at Goal Scoring Chart for our league. Jordan Allan is third top scorer on 10 which is impressive in a struggling team. What will appear unusual to a casual observer is that the team who are currently top of the league dont have a single player in the top 10. Our top goalscorer is Wighton on 6 goals which currenty places him joint 12th.

Jordan Allan has had an interesting career. He made his debut for Airdrie when he was 14 years 189 days old (youngest ever in UK at the time), spent four years at Wolves without making an appearance and scored 14 goals in 44 League appearances for Cowdenbeath in two seasons. He then scored 6 in 44 League games for Forfar and Airdrie before joining Clyde. Could McGlynn have found the next Kevin Nisbet?

Regarding the top scorer chart, there are a few reasons we don’t have anyone particularly high up the list.

Wighton, McCann and O’Hara have all struggled with injuries at points this season. At 1,100 minutes (just over 12 full games) Wighton has the most league minutes of any of our strikers. Average mins per goal for our strikers (league only) isn’t bad:
Wighton: 183
Todorov: 197
McCann: 243
That’s 3 strikers, who have all been in/out of the team, averaging a goal less than every 3 games. They’ve all scored some important goals too.

I think it’s also worth noting that we have the best defensive record in the league by a long way. McPake has tried to balance things out between defence/attack and it’s worked so far. Not scoring freely, but not really conceding many at all. Our mentality seems to be to keep it tight at the back and trust the attacking players to do their job and score at least once. We could play a more attacking brand of football, but that would leave us more vulnerable at the back. We’ve all been critical of wasted chances in front of goal. There’s no guarantee that getting more men forward would see us score more goals.

Having said that, I think we’ve seen some improved attacking performances lately. Against Kelty, Edinburgh, Peterhead, Partick and Dundee, I think we’ve been getting forward more and creating a lot of chances. It probably helps that we now have our full compliment of attacking options - including a fully fit Wighton. It’ll be interesting to see how our goal scoring record ends up, if we can keep everyone fit.

Very interesting looking at the stats pqr-91 although they don`t always show the full picture.

Apart from all the strikers having injuries this season, both O`Hara and Wighton were used as wingers at the start of the season with McCann being deployed as the lone striker.

Also interesting to note that although Shankland is 2nd top scorer in the Premiership with 16 league goals (9 of them were penalties which the stats don`t show) that puts him more or less on a par with Todorov, Wighton and McCann for goals from open play.

Yeah he started with 4-3-3 but then obviously didnt have the right players for that system.

interestingly we have players that could play there now but 3 at the back has been working so he has stuck with it. Except for the Falkirk Games where he will go 4-3-3

Yes agree. I think the 2nd half of the season we will kick on and score a few. We look a strong side now. If anything we just need defensive cover. We lookl like aside who are going up. Solid performances so far and seeing where we have come from we have climbed a bit of a mountain. You reap what you sow therefore if the players have worked hard which is pretty apparent we will only improve from here
