I`d take a scrappy 1-0 win that could prove absolutely massive.

Not strictly from a shot but they`d have one were it not for a goal line clearance.

HT - we have been very wasteful in front of goal. No exaggeration to say we should be leading by at least three. We are well on top. However, Edinburgh are dangerous on the counter with James Craigen putting in some great deliveries. We are strong on the flanks with McDonald and Edwards working hard.

It`s not over yet. We can`t afford to be so tardy in front of goal. We need to consolidate quickly in the second half as I think Edinburgh have a goal in them...

I`ve been flicking through the other games, it`s unbelievable that state some of the other teams grounds. Cove Rangers look like the play on a public park with a wee stand stuck on it, Ayr United and Arbroath stadium look like they are unchanged from the late 60s. Even Partick and Ross County`s grounds are tips. Say what you like about KDM East End Park but it`s one of the best stadiums in Scotland

Partick`s Firhill isn`t bad at all. Not as good as EEP but the John Lambie and Jacky Husband stands are fine but the main stand looks rather dated. The other end behind the goal is empty.

Firhill’s terrible, Paralex. I was there at the end of last season’s game v Pars. The main stand’s a dump and a maze (and probably a fire hazard) behind the facade. It’s needing a fortune spending on it.

Second half has been really poor. Giving the ball away too often and barring a couple of good runs by Todd there`s been nothing much up this end.

I still find it bizarre looking at our goals F and A columns. Only the bottom 3 have scored less goals than us but we`ve only conceded 11 in 19 league games. All adds up to the leagues best goal difference

Well done Pars another important 3 points.

FCE play in a huge wide open space complete with running track. Basically it’s like watching a game in the local park. Difficult for the players as there is very little atmosphere in the ground.

Kudos to Deniz great save at the end……….

Not the best game ever and we didn`t blow them away, but we were the better team, deserved to win and did win. So that`ll do fine.

Good start to the game from us with 2 good early chances. The first one from the header that hit the bar looked an absolute sitter, and it was annoying that we`d opened them up before they had settled but not managed to go ahead. Wighton`s chance shortly after was well worked but it looked like the ball was just slightly too far in front of him for it to be an easy chance and he didn`t get quite enough on it. We played well in the first half as they stood off and allowed us to play, but the goal that did come was a really nice one. Good play from Kyle Macdonald to go past two players, a nice low pass intot he box and a well-placed finish. We looked like we could score again and 2-0 would have been about right, though we were vulnerable at the other end as well, particularly on our left side where we were often left a man short.

Different game in the second half as they came out and pressed us straight away. The first few minutes were a bit nervy as we took a while to adjust to this after being given plenty time in the first half, but after we got started we were mainly quite comfortable. Mehmet had one save diving to his right that looked comfortable enough, but he really helped us to win the game with a good save late in the game. That was the only time we were opened up all game.

Good effort at the back, after having to change it round. Presumably Breen was injured, but we still looked OK with Comrie having to come in and play on the left side fo the back 3. He had a couple of poor moments in that position, but came onto his game later on and did a lot of good defensive work late in the game.

Really just a good hard wroking team effort to get us the points, and good to see it.

Agree Socks this is how I saw it also. Perfectly put.

One thing I noticed was something I had forgotten about on these surfaces. After a header from Mcann I noticed him having to wipe his eyes due to those horrible little plastic black rubber bits that stick to the ball.
Second ball with bits in your eyes is not so easy

Breen felt unwell at the pre-match meal apparently so that probably explains his absence from the squad.

Good summary by Socks. A deserved 3 points but we probably should have been further ahead in the first half.

Good highlights and well worked goal, but those chances that were missed are the story of our season. But a worthy 3 points and still topping the league.

Surely the story of our season is that we are top of the league because teams find it very difficult to score against us, especially away from home?

People go on about `missed chances` as if we were the only team on the planet who suffers from this. In fact `missed chances` are the very essence of football because they mean that, no matter how dominant one team is, if they can`t put the ball in the net the other team always has a chance of getting something from the game. Teams miss chances every week, at every level. Plenty were missed at the World Cup. Did anyone see Newcastle`s Chris Wood`s shocker in the FA Cup last night? Putting the ball in the net is the hardest part of football. Players tend to lose their normal composure when faced with the prospect of scoring a goal. The ones who can master this are the most valued in the game.

Still waiting patiently for our "luck" to run out and to come up against all these "better teams" that will "punish us"

Is Ben still doing his round-up of experiences as a travelling fan?

I think the last time I was at Meadowbank to see the Pars Norrie missed a penalty, back in the Jocky Scott era. I think that game finished 0-1 as well with Hamish French scoring the winner.

Parking was fine, although as an Edinburgh resident, it was no faster getting home than normal. The ticket arrangements were fine too (although I wished I`d been organised enough to get a seat). The grub looked good, but the view from the sidelines was dreadful. You were either a long way from the action, or the dugouts interfered with your line of sight. I opted for a place where I could see both goals, but there was about 20% of the pitch I couldn’t see, and that was where about 80% of the action took place. Inferring what was happening by observing the toings and froings of the back lines was a poor alternative to actually seeing the game.

As for the game itself– we spurned a number of good chances early on (Todd, McCann, Hamilton) – of course, if the first one goes in the game is changed irrevocably and who knows what would have happened – maybe we would have run out comfortable winners, or maybe Edinburgh would have changed things sooner and hit back. How we become more clinical, I don`t know.

Certainly we deserved to win, but there is always the nagging fear that the opposition will always get one chance – Mehmet did well when it did happen.

The goal we scored was terrific – for the second game in a row Macdonald deserves enormous credit – he reminded me of Colin Jackson (the hurdler, not the ex-Rangers centre-half) the way he motored down the wing and it was a pretty neat finish from Wighton. Even without Breen, the bench looked a bit stronger – I noticed some of the young lads (Tod, Sutherland etc) in the crowd and they look so young…

That must be close to our “grind out a result” starting eleven with Hamilton in the middle, although Comrie struggled a wee bit at LCB – I wonder if Breen had been available whether Macdonald would have even started. It’s an ill wind…

Yes, the manager confirmed Breen would have started if he had been fit. Maybe Comrie would have missed out.
