He’s been close to a few jobs now. Seems a very intelligent guy at least when acting as a pundit and has built a bit of experience as a coach over the past few years. That should give him a decent foothold as he takes the main job but that certainly doesn’t mean he’ll transition well into that role, many a good coach become a failed manager.
He has his past to deal with but it seems in large that has been left in the past and will unlikely affect him unless results falter and its suddenly gets used against him.

A rather unsavoury incident with a woman he was having an affair with. Threats were made and the court found him guilty.
Eta, Just to say, that`s his past and as far as I`m concerned it was dealt with by the court.

Well, he`s served his punishment for it, but it certainly wasn`t nothing.

Correct Grant. That’s some definition of “nothing” red star…
https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/crime/hibs-player-marvin-bartley-convicted-threats-charge-596915
But Sheriff Seith Ireland convicted him of breaking Section 38(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 by behaving in a manner which would be likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.
He said: “I find, beyond reasonable doubt, the accused is guilty of this offence. In my view Mr Bartley can’t be described as a credible and reliable witness.
“I accept everything Miss McRae says about what took place in the relationship, as it turns out, and the phone calls and behaviour of Mr Bartley.”
More specifically, Bartley told her to “protect those in her life” and turned up at her work to confront her.
This wasn’t when he was a daft laddie by the way, this was only 5 year ago.
All for rehabilitation and giving folk chances, but to dismiss all of this after just reading about it as ‘nothing’, is tone deaf at best.
