However, I`m delighted for O`Hara to get a goal after his long lay-off.

Coll Donaldson sent off so will presumably miss their game away to Edinburgh next week? Then 2 further away games at Kelty and Alloa. If we keep our noses clean this could be almost done and dusted.
Our defence is so strong. We worked so hard to protect that clean sheet. Good to see

Some of the football played before Josh Edwards` goal was the best I`ve seen in a long time. Spells of quick, accurate passing and dominant possession, was evidence that the players were high in confidence and obviously enjoying themselves, in spite of the overhead conditions.
Every player played his part in a comfortable victory. The modest opposition should not detract from what was a very competent performance.

I`m glad we got the two late goals to win by a big score for a change, after missing some good chances earlier in the second half. A good win in the end.
It wasn`t always comfortable, though, and we had to get through a rough spell in the second half at 2-0 when it would have got a bit nervy if we`d lost the next goal. Peterhead really pushed hard and left space at the back, so although we had the better chances before finally getting the third goal, we had to work for it.
Two different halves. I thought we were OK in the first half, but didn`t have too many chances - really, only the first goal was a good scoring chance. Two very good goals, though I think the first was the better of the two. Good stuff from Mochrie to get free and play a nice pass and a beautiful finish, opening up the body perfectly to put it away. We were always in control and not really threatened at all. I was much happier with out approach in the first half today, where we had a mix of short stuff and some longer passes into areas that forced them to defend. It was miles better than that slow, short, ineffective passing that we were intent on in the first half for a number of games. I`ve said a number of times that I think we`re much better when we`re a bit more direct and I think we had a good balance of styles in the first half.
We took a minute to settle after half-time and weren`t quite up to the pace to begin with, as we got much less time on the ball. Once we got started we had a few chances, but Peterhead were a threat until we got the third goal to kill the game. Mochrie had been struggling a bit just before that goal, but he did really well to work the space and set it up.
Another good win, and especially pleasing that we managed to get through a tough spell before going on to get the late goals to finish it. I was relaly keen for us not to lose a goal right at the end, and relaly pleased to get throguh another game without doing so.

Yes, Paralex, Benedictus strolled through the game, as he does most weeks. I don`t think he looks particularly tall on the pitch, but he`s a big, athletic unit off it. 🙂 Even more impressive, is that all the other players look up to him and consider him a real leader, both on and off the pitch.

Benedictus is clearly one of the reasons we are so far ahead of the pack. I liked Coll Donaldson and was pretty gutted hearing McGlynn picked him up. However in hindsight that was probably due to the position we were in 12 months ago (absolute sh1tshow) and Coll looked a bit raw but pretty solid at the level we were at. However Kyle is different. He`s not just a solid no-frills defender.....he`s a leader on the pitch and by all accounts, off the pitch too. Hard to find and our best signing in years. Our defensive record is staggering. If you remove the 2 brain-fart games at home against the bottom 2, we`d have conceded 7 (seven) goals. That`s phenomenal. It`s mid January! Watching the guys throw themselves into challenges and blocking shots late on at 3-0 to keep the clean sheet is almost as pleasing as seeing the goals go in.
McPake said all he wanted to do was get us winning games. He`s certainly been true to his word.

It`s always a worry but the good thing is no-one in the SPFL or Championship seems to be ready to pull the trigger. Possibly Motherwell or St Johnstone but think they`d be aiming a bit higher than a guy at League 1 level, no offense intended.

Listening to McPake`s interviews it doesn`t strike me that he`s itching to get away. Rather, he seems to be happy with the Club and its facilities, with his current squad, with the Academy set-up and with his management and backroom team: why would he want to go?
Watching the progression the team has made since his arrival you can`t help but think back to the Leishman era which some of us were lucky enough to experience.
Anyway, long may his tenure continue.

Been a follower of the forum for years and just decided to join. Wanted to give my information. It may be false but it’s normally a credible source who is also a member on DAFC.net and he might back this up here.
I was told McPake missed training last Sunday and was at the Motherwell v Hibs game that day. From what I was told he was invited to the game by a director from one of the clubs and has had conversations about a potential move to the club in question. It could be a lot of bullshit but maybe explains why McKay done the clubs press this week. I hope I’m putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. Could also explain why McPake seems reluctant to sign players as his head may be somewhere else.

What a lot of absolute nonsense, honestly. Try harder.

2-0 up at home to Peterhead meant 2 points dropped.
2-0 down at home to Clyde meant to points dropped.
The bottom two teams in the league, two part time teams, those points could be the difference.
These points are the reason I stopped being a member on this site. Can’t have an opinion when it’s a site to give what….opinions!
Wait a minute, on this post you say you stopped being a member, on your first post you say you have been a follower of the site and you decided to join to post. What was your username before?

Red-star-par I was a member before but I wasn’t happy with the way we all turned against our own and our club. As a lifelong fan I was fed up of the negativity so I took myself out of it. Like a lot of us I read the forum as it’s better than the guff spouted on twitter which I can’t work very well anyway.
I’ve wanted to post in the aftermath of last season and how bad it was but seeing how excited everyone seems to be that we are top of the third tier I couldn’t help myself. I won’t give my previous username as most on here will know who I am from before. I’d rather be back but in a private sense as opinions now come with personal insults. That’s not for me.

To the point about training on Sunday, it’s possible the players might have been in, but not for training, as we were due to play Dundee on the Tuesday ?
Perhaps massages, review of the game etc

When should we start worrying about losing our management team?
No worries with regards to that truthfully.
No championship club is going to pay a release clause for a full time manager which leaves us with Premiership. While he`s done a fantastic job this year no Premiership club is getting a league one manager in.
If he has us in a similarly successful position next year though we`ll be in trouble! Or not because we`ll be doing well in the Championship. It would be a nice problem to have.

So you come on here to spread negativity and say it hasn’t been good enough when we’re 7 points clear at the top of the league?
Also, regarding your rumour, the team do not train on a Sunday when they have played a match on the Saturday. Mackay has regularly done his share of media duties throughout the season as well, that’s not a new thing.

If the gaffer guides us to a championship win I`ve no doubt he will get offers from Premiership clubs and it would be a very naive fan to think he hasn`t been approached already.
That`s the nature of football these days.
He`s clearly ambitious but regardless, it will make him even more focused to deliver us the title come May.

I compare this season with the last season we were in League One, and the difference to me seems to be the planning beyond just this season. AJ assembled a team to get the Pars into the Championship, but that team wasn`t built to challenge beyond that and it did not. McP seems to be building a team that could challenge in the Championship if we get there. For a young manager with ambition, that would seem to me a more interesting proposition with way more upside than taking over a bottom Premiere team mid-year.
So it will interesting to see how the Pars fare in the upcoming away cup fixtures against Championship teams.

We have already hammered a championship team on their own pitch, the team would more than hold their own in the Championship this season.

1 When did we start training on Sundays?
2 Dave Mackay has done media interviews in the past.
3. McPake`s attitude to signings seems to be exactly as it was at the last transfer window.
we’re we’re training last sunday morning 10am pitreavie astro

So it seems Fifesbigclub was half right! We were training last Sunday but James McPake was there!
I hope you guys are right about him not necessarily being tempted to move. The football world extends beyond Scotland though and Hartlepool appointed Paul Hartley on the back of him getting Cove Rangers promoted from League 1. It didn`t work out but that might not stop another English club trying something similar.

Of course attitudes can change if someone starts waving silly money around, but I genuinely think JMcP is very happy with his situation at present.
He seems to have a good relationship with the CEO and the Board, and has fully bought into the project to get the Pars secure in the Premiership by steady planning in the round rather than by just throwing money at the first team. If that plan is successful then he`ll definitely be a target in 2-3 years for much bigger clubs.
I`ll freely admit that his appointment didn`t initially excite me, but he`s won me over by his personal enthusiasm and more importantly by good recruitment and the ability to change to Plan B during a game if Plan A isn`t working.

I’d be absolutely gutted if he moves on but the 2 clubs he’s most closely associated with are Hibs and Dundee and the Hibs support are definitely looking for a change.
I hope though I sees us as a chance to really prove to everyone how much he’s learned from his time in the hot seat at Dundee and gives us another couple of years.

I also wasn`t convinced but he`s doing a good job. I`ve complained in the past about subs coming too late or managers being afraid to change things but his changes have often worked. The players seem like they are fighting for each other.
On the stay or go issue. If I was him I would probably speak to our board around investment and whether they`ll back him for promotion next season assuming we win promotion of course.
I`m not sure the `hibs is a big club` fans would see him as a big enough appointment anyway. Hibs managers have done well recently to get >1 year in post so he could find himself quickly back out of work.

The most obvious thing to JMcPske is to make a reputation with us. That is by building a good team over the next two or three seasons that win league 1 and even the championship. Its small steps. We are a club with ambition, with an ethos of developing young players. We could be a premiership club in 3 seasons with a strong foundation and good support. I think management of the bigger clubs in the premiership is short lived.

TBH, we know the mess we were in after two failed managerial appointments, but looked at from the outside it`s probably no massive achievement for JMcP to have a club like DAFC leading (or even winning) League One. Different if he led the club to the Premiership.
The League One manager who IMO is currently over-achieving is surely Alan Maybury at FC Edinburgh. It`s his first appointment, although he has been a coach at a few clubs.

I take your point, Stanza, but, as I said earlier in the thread, James McPake has also managed in the Scottish Championship and the Scottish Premiership with some success. He won the Championship with Dundee and some felt he was unfairly sacked by them whilst trying to establish them in the Premiership so there`s more to judge him on than his time at the Pars.
