Even enough game Grant, poor goal for us to concede I thought. Benedictus got caught under the ball again, similar to sat and McMullan had loads of space.
Quality goal by us. Great build up and cracking header by McCann.

Really enjoyed that first half. Some lovely play by the Pars and an absolutely cracking goal by McCann. Apart from the slip that allowed Dundee to score think our defence has looked composed and assured. Looking forward to the second half. We look up for this - certainly not in awe of Dundee.

For me Dundee`s second goal highlighted the issue of the new offside rules.
Sheridan looked to be offside, Breen nips in to get the ball, as the flag never went up (because Sheridan hadn`t touched the ball) which resulted in a corner and Dundee score.
Maybe I saw it wrong but Sheridan definitely looked offside.

Come on ye Pars! Nothing to be ashamed of losing this game.It was a bold attacking lineup from McPake and for the most part it worked in the first half. I thought the triple sub was a genius move at just the right time, but it just didn`t pay off this time.
It is a shame that we didn`t progress further as a semi final against the Rovers could have been a cracker.
So that`s us out of two cups in a few days. We can concentrate on the league while our nearest rivals have to concern themselves with the prospect of an embarrassment at the hands of Ayrshire`s finest - Darvel...

I agree our players did look tired. The pitch was still heavy and I now believe we can call Dundee the Arabs with the sand on the pitch!
I still enjoy watching the interlinking play and the way we try to play football. It faded in the second half and I am unsure if it was the changes made or whether it was tiredness from Saturday setting in.
I also enjoyed the line up that McPake was trying out.
Always nice to watch a game where it isn’t a disaster when you get beaten. I am sure he learned a lot from that game about some of the players he has.
2 cracking goals from our perspective and a wee night out from watching police interceptors.
Nice to be out!

Agree Oz - creditable performance against a side near the top of the Championship and for periods (especially early and late in first half) we put them under a lot of pressure and created quite a few chances. Both Partick Thistle and Dee TV commentators were very complementary about us and Ian McCall said we were not a league one side. We also scored two great goals and certainly gave it a go and never gave up. Switched off for their second goal and some clinical finishing from them. Depressing that after such efforts some of the negative posters on here suddenly appear and criticize. Some people’s comments seem to be more influenced by the score, an inflated sense of entitlement to win and a desire to put the boot in and criticize rather than based on how the team actually played. Was an entertaining game with both teams clearly wanting to win.

Thought the Pars played pretty well last night. Was never really sure about the outcome until our third goal went in. Was dreading another extra time game, as were you no doubt. Just before the equaliser went in I said to my friend, these crosses are dangerous... GOAL!
Goal of the night was Wighton`s, an absolute peach. From the Bobby Cox stand I couldn`t actually see who scored but knew it had the hallmark of a Wighton goal. Even had the Dundee fans applauding.
Good luck with the rest of the season. You`ll breeze that division and, with a few additions, that team would easily hold its own in the Championship.

4 goals flattered Dundee.
We should have been 2 up in the first 15 minutes and that`s what cost us, our finishing.
Personally think the 3 subs on the 55th minute was a bad move given we had no other options on the bench. 2 of our back 4 were clearly carrying knocks in the second half and that`s had a big impact in the last 15 minutes.
I have no worries about us competing in the championship next season, we just need to add a couple of signings to strengthen the depth.
I’m here to take over!!

Ach the typical .net expert crew come out after a defeat.
Dundee look like a team that will end up promoted to the Premier League. We looked like a team that was tired and missing reinforcements.
That’s our worst defeat all season, and indeed only our 3rd in 90 minutes.
Perhaps some of the players maybe aren’t at top end championship quality, but then we knew that already!? No one gains from calling players crap or being negative for the sake of it.

A decent effort again, like on Saturday. 1st half was pretty even, we started great and ended it strongly, Dundee dominated the middle part. Second half we were pretty comfortably outplayed. A few mistakes for each goal conceded and Mehmet didn`t cover himself in glory at any stage.
Sam Young played well, I think both Hamilton and Chalmers did well - given they were outnumbered until the subs. Breen was good again. Also O`Hara was much better than Saturday, a fantastic cross and overall much sharper, it looks like he can do a job on the right of a 3.
The subs were quite strange, O`Hara in particular had his tail up after the assist, it came at a time when we were on top and after we struggled. Young was playing fine and I think Todorov was doing ok as well, I assume it was to go from what was quite an open 3-4-3 to a more compact 4-5-1. Wighton and Todd struggled to get into the game, and the deliveries were much poorer second half from Edwards and Macdonald.
More positives than negatives again, and perhaps a good example to the players of the continued improvement needed.

The competition may not be the best but I would hope tgat we would not consider the games within it to be meaningless. It woukdnt be a good use of tge fixture if we thought it so. It is a good opportunity to try different things, gauge our progress against teams in a higher league and identify areas we need to work on when we go up next year. More clinical finishing has perhaps been the lesson learned this season. We wont have that luxury next.

It’s a bit disappointing to go out of 2 cups in the space of a few days, but it was entirely predictable, I thought.
I think it’s common for there to be a bit of a hangover after an extra-time cup loss a few days earlier – you start off fine, then you suddenly run out of gas. Plus I thought Dundee were maybe half a yard quicker than we are used to (how you actually measure that I don’t know) as you would expect from a better team – I think Chalmers suffered most from this as he likes to dwell on the ball and look for a pass.
We started well, but couldn’t convert any of the chances we created – most of the action was at the far end so I couldn’t see how close we were; at their first goal we seemed to give up – Bene stopped and Mehmet seemed to dive early. The other goals looked poor as well from a defensive point of view. And we persist with playing it out from the back – there was one occasion where Mehmet was way out of position when he cleared it straight to the opposition, and the goal was wide open. At 3-1 down we were still in it so I might have expected some more urgency, but they have a way of playing and that wasn’t to go long ball.
Team selection would have been difficult – you need to freshen it up a bit after the weekend, and you don’t have the loanees available so you are inevitably going to be a little understrength, and I thought it showed. Sam Young acquitted himself well (which may give us another option as it is noticeable how often Breen and Bene seem to need treatment) and it was good to see Fenton and Tod get some time – the latter doing well to set up Wighton rather than have a pop himself. Wighton seems to be taking everything first time for some reason – it’s good if you can do it.
I would expect Mochrie, RKH and maybe Mahon to feature on Saturday, which I hope will be a bit easier.
