Southampton have sacked manager Nathan Jones after just three months in charge of the Premier League club.
Former Luton Town boss Jones, 49, leaves with Saints bottom of the table after Saturday`s loss to 10-men Wolves.
The Welshman lost nine of the 14 matches he oversaw in all competitions following his appointment on 10 November.
That record included eight defeats in nine Premier League games and four successive home losses at St Mary`s.

Partick just played pretty good as well at Ibrox and sitting ready to make an effort to consolidate play offs. You wonder if he has had contact or spoke to Motherwell over that job, as this sacking sounds ridiculous

Judging by his interview after today`s cup-tie at Ibrox he didn`t see that coming. Would he have kept his job if they had won today?

The timing of that is absurd. Like Dundee sacking McPake on the back of 2 WINS, saying they were bringing someone in to consolidate the good work he’d done.

If they got beat 6-0 I could understand

That is a shocker. He looked every bit a permanent fixture at Firhill. He has had two four-year stints at Thistle.
He would be a good choice for Motherwell. They have experimented with managers for years - 17 managers since the turn of the century tells you everything. From the `60s through to the `90s, most Scottish teams would go through three, sometimes four managers a decade, Nowadays, for teams like Motherwell, it can be six or seven.
Ian McCall is a thinker. What you see is what you get, and what you get is someone who, by most accounts, can motivate players and reads a game well. He had a dark period under the influence of gambling a few years ago, but from what I have read, he had the inner strength to overcome those demons.
He is not someone who should be lost to our game.

Timing is a bit odd but not totally shocked.
They looked good last season, added a few decent players and were probably were looking to be doing a lot better than they have been. Wouldn`t say it`s a particularly strong league so they have under achieved IMO.

Reading between the lines, the new board has discovered the clubs finances were somewhat worse than anticipated.
There`s nothing in the latest statement that really says anything about WHY McCall and co were sacked. In fact, it`s very positive about their contribution, which makes the whole thing even more bizarre.

Marsch was sacked by Leeds only eight days ago and, while talks have taken place, there is still work to be done before a deal is concluded.`

Queens Park Rangers have sacked manager Neil Critchley after just 12 games in charge at Loftus Road.
The west London club have gone 10 Championship games without a win and are 17th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.
Critchley, 44, was appointed on a three-and-a-half-year deal in December after Michael Beale left for Rangers.
He won his first game against Preston, but has only picked up five points from the 30 available since then.

Watford have sacked head coach Slaven Bilic after less than six months in charge of the Championship club.
The 54-year-old replaced Rob Edwards, who himself only lasted 11 games himself at Vicarage Road, in September.
Watford have won just one of their past eight matches and are four points outside the play-offs following Saturday`s goalless draw with Preston.
The Hornets are now looking for their ninth full-time manager since Javi Gracia left in September 2019.

I think I`m right in saying they haven`t had a shot on target in their last 3 games. Vieira seemed to be doing so well when he first arrived but that`s the vagueries of football management.
I was walking past Ian McCall`s Glasgow house yesterday. He`s sold up and moved off already. Obviously not hanging around to mope about his dismissal. It was interesting to read about James McPake`s thoughts when he was sacked by Dundee. On top of his considerable problems with his damaged knee, he was prematurely dismissed as manager. Hero to zero can happen very quickly in football management.

Quite possibly sadindiefreak, he probably didn`t want me to be gloating over his misfortunes again. But I still can`t get over the way they capitulated against Ayr Utd in the last game of the season when we were fighting for our lives. Of course it was immaterial anyway because we lost at home to Queen of the South.

He reminds me of Mourinho. Enjoyed plenty of success as a manager, but can`t handle it when his teams hit a bad patch. Factor in an outsize ego which means it`s always someone else`s fault.
He`ll be back at Juve next season.

Surely the Spurs will go for Nagelsmann? That would seem to be a "no-brainer".
