Lay aside all the controversy about the first goal, the pyrotechnics and the stuff that was being thrown onto the pitch. And instead spend 20 minutes of your life taking in this YouTube video of the view of the game from the perspective of the North West Stand.

There is something special happening at EEP right now that we haven`t seen since the Leishman era 30+ years ago. We shouldn`t ignore this, for it looks like a real cultural shift.
Handled properly, we could be on the cusp of something truly enormous.
I don`t see flares and lighters as being the main issue here, annoying as they are. I see kids and teenagers ignoring the peer pressure to follow the green and the blue, who instead are choosing to follow the black and the white with a passion that is absolutely astonishing.
Frankly, and this may put a few noses out of joint, what I see on this video is waaaay, way better than the very best of the Cage days... and they were very good.
I hope this video gets wide attention as the image that it presents of Dunfermline Athletic is absolutely fantastic. Following the Pars looks like a really exciting experience!
Given our German connection, would it not be ironic if we were to gain a St Pauli-type reputation among youth looking for a lively place to spend their Saturday afternoons?
If Falkirk come up with us to the Championship (I hope they do), and the two Dundee clubs and the Rovers are there too, it is quite conceivable that half our games at EEP could be close to full. Can you imagine that?
Well, yes I can, actually. We`ve been there before, under Leishman.
You can see that the players love what is happening here. They race to the NW. Just look at the reception young KRH got as he walked round the pitch. And Denis Mehmet, a virtual pariah last season, is now the subject of his very own song!
If we can hold on to James McPake for a couple more seasons, we could be back where we want to be in Scottish football.
I acknowledge that there are concerns about some of the behaviour in the North West Stand. I just feel that we need to handle these concerns with a firm but fair hand, and avoid killing off what looks very much like an unexpectedly generous golden goose.
Most clubs in the lower divisions seem to be playing to aging and dwindling audiences. If we can buck that trend, who knows where that could take us in the future?

Yes it`s great to see crowds increasing and definitely a feel good factor about the place.
But let`s not get carried away we are 8 points clear with 9 games to go,nothing won yet.
Steady the buffs and and one game at a time,I`m hopeful we can continue the run we are on,but taking nothing for granted.

Yup was a special effort, loved the video, just looked good fun. All that was lacking during the goal celebrations was a crowd surfer.

Brilliant footage. Also shows that the ball was definitely not stopped on the line as the camera behind the goal suggests. It was over & the linesman had a perfect view.

Great post OZpar and as someone who was a teenager during the Leishman years, I agree with you completely.
Last season I was at Firhill in the Jackie Husband stand (with my Jags loving brother in law) and the only positive in what was a pretty dire evening out, was the youngsters and their unwavering support for the team, no matter how bad it got on the pitch. The club needs them (less flares though chaps...)

9530 with over 7000 in the home end was a phenomenal crowd on Tuesday and it was good to see so many youngsters in the crowd. Hopefully this is the start of another surge in the club`s fortunes and in local interest. Watching that video my only reservation was that maybe a lot of the kids were there for the experience rather than the football. There`s a lot of peer pressure at that age to go with the crowd and often going to the football is just a phase kids go through which isn`t continued in later life. Not many were wearing the colours which is usually a sign of commitment.
Still, there is obviously something to build on there and that may be when we see the new regime coming into its own. Occasions like Tuesday will convince them they have made a good investment after a lot of initial disappointments since they came on board.

You just have to see the crowd at the end in the Norrie and the NW how crazy everyone was still going after FT. That`s incredible, the sort of thing that when it`s against you, you just wish it was your own team.
Ep. 7 of East End Tales is out now with Callum Morris! Match in focus: Stenhousemuir 4-5 Pars

Superb post Oz.
We’ve all made mistakes in our youth, but working with the young boys in the NW rather than criticising this next important and sizeable generation of Pars fans must be the way forward.

Agreed. Although they also need to take some responsibility. The NW sign acvross the barriers in the front row cost £1000 and it, along with it`s fixings is now wrecked.
I`m not sure if the club or Section NW pay for that, but MTF boys, there is absolutely no need to be louping all over it and someone has to pick up the tab. It can`t keep happening.

I was so lucky to be at the game on Tuesday, witnessed the many scenes and the electric atmosphere created by all within the whole ground, and the NW plays a huge part of that.
The display they put on at the start was top work, even when the coloured smoke that came from both sets of supporters, brought back a memory of my old man saying it was loud enough to waken the dead.
I`ve never seen so much passion since the cage days in my teens, but throwing burning objects on the park and delaying the game is wrong; Invading the pitch while the team celebrate is wrong; and that is attracting the negative views of many.
Its great to get that buzz back again, that buzz I`ve not experienced for many a year and, dare I say it but railed seating might help.

I was going to write a similar post oz but my grammar is poor to say the least. The atmosphere down at the corner flag looked amazing if I was a teenager again that’s where I would be standing. If you noticed Blair’s next video it was the Irish cup final where both sets of fans had a pyro display before the game with firemen in attendance which looked pretty organised if not 100% safe. So if the young ones must have their pyros then maybe we should look at the Irish FA’s rules on them. Personally I don’t like them they’re a pain in the bottom and I would hate to see any youngster with a melted face but if it brings the atmosphere it did on Tuesday then maybe we have to meet in the middle somewhere??

A good thing about the NW crew on Tuesday is how a large number of them were there at least half an hour before kick off, singing their heads off and letting the team know how much this game meant to us. This was clearly planned and must have been a huge boost to the players.

There has always been a good atmosphere in the stadium - including the NW - without smoke bombs and pyrotechnics.

Didn’t realise that’d been trashed. When it was unrolled at the start of the game, it just added to the entire atmosphere and a feeling something special was about to happen.
This takes a bit of edge off a great night. I appreciate the hard work and time volunteers put in at EEP and they deserve to be treated with more respect. Young boys carried away a bit, let’s hope a solution can be found about banners.

SeasonedPar, I think Digs is referring to the permanent sign, not the TIFO depicting the Big Country reference. Apologies if I’m wrong there.

Great Post Oz. What a magnificent evening on Tuesday. Great to see so many youngsters backing the Pars rather the OF and contributing to the EEP atmosphere. Let`s hope they can stop the throwing of objects and pyro from NW whilst still having a blast and enjoying supporting the team so passionately and loudly.

There’s no doubt that the lads in the north west greatly improve the atmosphere at EEP especially on Tuesday night in such an important game. I left the game elated with result and the attitude of the players. But I did feel the behaviour of objects getting thrown on the pitch left a bad taste in my mouth and did tarnish the night a bit.
A bit more respect should be shown to all the players, officials and staff who help out around the ground. None of them should feel threatened when they are doing their jobs.
Would be good going forward if the lads from the NW and the club can come to some sort of agreed celebration be it large flags, signs or some sort of controlled pyrotechnics/or or black white and red flares that can be set off whenever we score. Least if it’s done officially it can be made as safe as it possibly can.
Would hate to see anyone being seriously injured when attending a game but at some point this is gonna happen if a solution isn’t found.

Dunfermline as a city (love that) must a high youth population with all the new builds, they have the potential to create a large and buoyant fan base for the future.
My son plays football at the young team age group and being a pars fan is by far the most common, this isn’t just in his team but across all the teams in west Fife, to the point that you presume someone is a Par unless they say otherwise.
This situation I can only see get bigger as I walk around Duloch and see the primary school age kids almost all in Pars tops. I think the end of Rangers in 2012 meant that there wasn’t that instant glory pull on youngsters and has given them a bit more freedom to pick a different team, I grew up when every 1/3 kid was a Aberdeen fan!
