It’s not closed you are lying. No additional tickets can be bought for it. What an utterly abhorrent way to treat the fans. Without the NW then the Lino wouldn’t have given the first goal. I was sat in the Norrie (GBNF ) and genuinely never saw anything aimed at the linesman? Yes there were pyrotechnics (flares, vapes etc) that were chucked on to the pitch but nothing worse than the smoking enclosure just outside NW so not sure what the issue is there.
I’d imagine Cook will combust when he sees the fantastic Saint Pauli fans at EEP.

You think it`s Cooks fault ???? You seriously think this isn`t pressure by the police after **** was thrown onto the park and again there were attempts to get on the park? Aye blame the board for that instead of individuals taking responsibility for themselves.
Ep. 7 of East End Tales is out now with Callum Morris! Match in focus: Stenhousemuir 4-5 Pars

Not at all surprising.
While it was a great atmosphere on Tuesday it was inevitable that action had to be taken.
Looking at what has happened at Easter Road it is probably lucky that arrests haven`t taken place here. Several Spanish supporters were also arrested at Old Trafford. As a police officer was apparently injured so a potentially serious charge.
Both our political masters and the football authorities have made it clear that using any form of flares will result in serious consequences.
In our case, the first strike could well be a fine which the Club can I`ll afford.
The North West support is great. Let`s not shoot ourselves in the foot.

While some fans will not agree with the club`s response, the BoD could not be seen to be sitting on their hands. This might invite more severe sanctions from the SFA, the SPFL or even Police Scotland.
It`s probably the very minimum expected by the authorities.

Genuinely wondering as to who`s fault it is then? Surely you can see that items being thrown onto the pitch, which caused the game to be delayed and which was deemed necessary for the referee to put In his match report, can only be the fans fault?

It was my first home game this season on Tuesday - can`t say I was proud to see things thrown at opposing players, even if it is just a scrunched up napkin. Players should feel safe at every stadium and they don`t know if that thing getting thrown at them is a harmless napkin or something worse. There is plenty scope for passion without jumping the railings and chucking things on the pitch. Disappointing that the club needs to have so many stewards in front of the NW corner.
The club response is measured and sensible. EEP is not Ibrox.

Half the idiots within that area on Tuesday probably won’t be at another game till trophy day (if we win the league). It wasn’t just your usual North West bunch in there on Tuesday.
What is stopping them congregating at the front of the Norrie now if they do attend? It doesn’t really solve the issue.

Incidently, some of the items thrown (not just on Tuesday, I might add) include pound coins, disposable vapes, lighters etc. I can just imagine the outcry from the likes of dafc123 had the Police stopped fans from bringing those perfectly legal and legitimate to have on their person items into the ground.
As a side note, a club in England are doing exactly that. No coins (kiosks are card only), no vapes or lighters (stadium is smoke free), no phone charging banks etc allowed in the away end. Can`t remember who it is, but presumably dafc123 would be fine with such draconian measures at EEP?

Rather a strange argument. Neither the police nor the stewards threw anything on to the pitch.
Let`s face it, the consequences of your argument would entail us standing in long, long lines outside EEP while some Steward, hired at considerable cost the the Club, carried out a full body search.
It has been reported in the press in the last few days that kids as young as 9 have carried in flares for their bigger mates.
The answer is simple. Just act responsibly.

Surely dafc123 has an uncatchable lead in the contest for the daftest post of the year. The people who brought the pyros into the stadium in contravention of the ground regulations were not at fault. The people who threw them on to the pitch were not at fault. The people who threw other objects towards the pitch were not at fault.
The people who were responsible were Police Scotland, who failed to search every single one of the 9,000 plus crowd. Even if the police had had the manpower to do that, no doubt dafc123 would be complaining about delays getting into the ground.

Wonder if that was included in the referees report? I assume not since it was one of the bigot brothers, Police Scotland run scared.

What I don`t get is why they were thrown at our own players while celebrating, even players were giving a calm down wave to them.
If the players choose to celebrate at the other stands or other areas of the NW, then maybe the over exuberance of that corner could be evenly spread throughout the ground.

The displays in the NW are always outstanding, and Jason does a wonderful job fundraising and organising them. However if the fans then throw the materials on the pitch, and completely destroy the contents, instead of them being collected/recycled then maybe a rethink is in order. The volunteers had to spend a lot of their time on Thursday picking up all the rubbish generated by the thoughtless fans who used the display materials as missiles. It is such a waste.
The previous poster is blaming the police/stewards rather than the idiots who once again shame our club, and cost us money.

The same players that jumped into the crowd at both goals 😂 the club obviously felt like they had to be seen to take action, fair enough. The club have never been fined, despite hundreds of people saying it was imminent and they wont be fined while there is no strict liability.

Start by properly searching people, then target the individuals who are seen to be throwing things. A sheep dip approach is not the answer in the first instance, as it punishes everyone who is not a season ticket holder. I think it’s fair to say that the club ‘has to be seen’ by the authorities to be ‘taking action’ against it. Didn’t particularly meant get the club entirely wants to do it, but has to be seen to condemn it. While I don’t condone anything, from a purely commercial perspective, would it be the end of the world if we became a bit of a bad boy atmosphere? Would we get a few hundred extra fans that would offset any potential fines that come our way?! Make it an absolute scary fortress for the opposition?

It`s for one match FFS. If the club did nothing then they`d no doubt end up with a fine or an order to do something worse like shut the whole section.
The St Pauli comparison is interesting. What I see is something that is clearly coordinated like the displays Jason organises. All we saw on Thursday was half a dozen sparklers lobbed onto the pitch that achieved little other than delaying the game.
The NW guys are fantastic but it`s simply a case of asking them to tone it down a bit before the club starts to get real grief from the police and SFA.

Whatever the rights and wrongs at the end of the day throwing anything onto the pitch is endangering the safety of players, officials, stewards, ball boys/girls. Throwing incendiaries is seriously irresponsible and runs the risk of serious injury to those described above. We are trying to win the league and this is a serious distraction from the main objective of winning games. EEP has never been seen as a dangerous place to visit for visiting fans, intimidating yes, dangerous no. Recent behaviour seriously detracts from our main aim to win the league but also damages our reputation as a welcoming and friendly place to visit, no matter your affiliation, for visiting officials as well as visiting fans, and I sincerely include Falkirk supports in that, otherwise we are no better than other less reputable clubs. Our team, management staff, directors and support staff deserve better.

I don`t think anyone is condoning things getting thrown on the pitch, or people running on the pitch, but don`t punish the vast majority who do create the atmosphere.
The Club have CCTV and would be able to pick out who threw flares and things that could hurt players also the people who went on the park. Get pictures of them even publish in the papers websites etc and punish these people heavily, this will stop this.

Never had a season ticket but stood, sat and supported the pars for over 30 years in the Nw. Never thrown any objects onto the pitch Never had pyro but here we are, because of a few idiots who probably only go once a year or on a big match , I can`t sit in the Nw.
Sorry but the club have once again put a damper on what I feel is a new energy the fans are bringing in the Nw one that`s not been there for a long time.
Ceo , BOD you`ve called this one wrong .
Cctv , police , stewarts are where you need to start not the fans who have supported the club through the good and more recently the very bad times .
Also pyro is fast becoming part of football culture, let`s think out the box and have dialogue with the fans on safe use and don`t stop something that creates atmosphere.
May I also add idiots are idiots, what`s to stop them from throwing things from the Norrie

Is it not the case that the club has to be seen to be doing something about this otherwise the SFA/SPFL will throw the book at them? The statement on COWS has links to the club guidance on Unacceptable Conduct and the Ground Regulations. It`s not something that`s just been dreamed up since Tuesday.

If they want to behave like wild animals stick them in a cage.
Big net from the floor to the roof running for most of the NW will stop most items reaching the pitch.

I think the club has been pretty fair to the fans in the North West, and the official statement put out by the North West is fair enough to. The club obviously found themselves under a bit pressure from the SFA so have to be seen to be taking action. Undoubtedly much worse happens at Celtic/ Sevco games but the authorities will still their head in the sand, and prefer to make an example of a club like ours. The atmosphere generated was excellent, but I knew there would be a price to be paid for some people that overstepped the mark.
I think the club should ask the players to stop celebrating goals in front of this area, head to the family section instead, this might stop folk encroaching on the pitch.
In fact, to follow on from that poster earlier. It`s not the fans fault for coming on to the pitch, it`s the players for celebrating in front of the North West ;)

I`m just so scunnered that it`s come to this. There have been quite a few things chucked at the linesman and opposing players from that section over the last few years, and even something chucked towards one of our own players as he went to take a corner last season.
I love the NW, specifically because it`s close to the pitch, but I suppose that`s also part of the attraction for fannyish behaviour. I really don`t know where this goes, because attempting to reason is unlikely to get very far so does it just continue until someone decides to close the whole stand again? In 5 years time, the folk currently causing the problems probably won`t care because most of them will no longer be regulars by then. But I probably will, as will the hundreds of others who have been NW regulars since before most of that group were born.
I have a season ticket so it won`t immediately affect me, but I feel bad for those who do not and who won`t be able to get in their normal spot next week. And can we be clear that this is not an issue in the whole of the NW, but is specifically down in that corner. And yes, I know it`s not everyone down there.
If this goes where I fear and a complete closure, I will be seriously peed off. Last time it happened 10 years ago was an utterly miserable experience in the main stand, to the point where I wasn`t even sure I wanted to keep going. Please let`s not risk it coming to that.

It clearly is cooks fault. It has his name at the bottom. Are you suggesting he is being coerced into this by police Scotland? What a truly damming way to look at our justice system.
DAFC employ security who could find a fudge doughnut in Stephens. Not really the fans fault here at all actually.

I am very disappointed for myself. I had just started taking my Grandson to games, sitting in the North West. A place I have been going since the old stadium days and I am now locked out.
Disappointed for him as he loves the atmosphere created by the young lads and has embraced going to Pars games over his Celtic family.
Disappointed as I will need to find new digs in the stadium for the first time ever (Apart from the Muirton Park debacle)
Disappointed that the over exuberance of some of our young lads spilled over to menace.
I knew the sanctions would come when watching the scenes on Tuesday as the paper turned to other objects then vandalism.
As a previous poster said it is only one game so I can suck it up, but the stain remains with the pyro burns on the grass as a reminder to those individuals who created this disappointment.

Problem is Jake the ramifications are unlikely to only be one match. The way other people perceive the young lads (correctly or incorrectly) is different. Personally I love their enthusiasm and as you say we hope this is nipped in the bud, we take our pill, and move on. But perception stays long in the memory of people. This will potentially not be the only ramification as this can change future handling of high risk matches. It only takes one event to change a perception.

They can still sit in the Norrie or Main stands. I know it`s not their usual spot but I`m imagining it`s season ticket holders only as the club have their names and addresses so if they were to cause bother they can be easily identified.
What we don`t want is a situation like Rangers fans at Hibs where each fan got patted down before being allowed in, or worse where the club is pressured to close the stand by the police.

Maybe that`s what people would prefer then? To me there are two options:
1. Don`t bring flares to a game.
2. Bring flares to a game but get searched and have them taken off you and thrown in a police van for having what would be considered a weapon in your possession.
1. Relies on trust so not following that basic concept would result in 2.
In both cases there are no flares.

Jake, the flares are an issue aside - with its own discussion on rights and wrongs.
The main issue here as I see it, are items being thrown at players, officials and onto the pitch. That isn`t exuberant behaviour, getting carried away or supporting the team. That is simply unacceptable behaviour.
It does absolutely nothing positive for the atmosphere, the match day experience or the team.
Will he save it? Save it??? He never bloody saw it! Like a bullet!

This opinion will probably be unpopular here: I think the pyro is cool and adds to the atmosphere. I’ve never taken any in myself but I enjoy it when others do. Nobody was hurt at eep on Tuesday, nobody is maimed or dead, some guys threw balled up paper and set off a few flares. Please let’s keep that in perspective and cease the bed wetting.
I understand the league and the police will probably be a bit sissy about this and that’s why the club has had to be seen to do something, even knowing it will cost them a few quid in missed ticket sales for the Edinburgh game. Young guys like to be a bit rowdy at the football, it’s attractive to them and part of the experience. It was no different in the days when we had terracing, the club has just started to regain that element after years of being overly sanitised and let’s be honest absolutely flat. The atmosphere was pretty dire at east end for the majority of the last 20 years and it’s only picked up in the last couple thanks to these young lads who everyone here seems so eager to throw under the bus for being a bit boisterous. Stop the pearl clutching.

Let`s just put one of the false assumptions to bed here.
Nobody. Absolutely nobody is having a go at these lads for creating an atmosphere. It`s brilliant.
Throwing stuff on the park is not atmosphere and gives the polis an opportunity to either slap the CLUB with fines, sanctions or otherwise.
These lads are not being targeted as a group. It`s the individuals that are risking fines etc to the club that are on the receiving end of these criticisms.
I don`t know how clearer to make it.

I was surprised the game was allowed to go on with all that stuff getting chucked on the pitch.
One of their players fluffed a corner kick, he must`ve been bricking it, having to stand so close to that corner. As someone else posted - the players don`t know what`s gonna be thrown next.
Throwing stuff is just weans havin`a chug - I`m sure the NW`s hard men could sort it out. 👍

Shutting the stand to non season ticket holders is a bit much. We will have loads of fans who behaved themselves but got hooked by the atmosphere so would attend again, even although they had not been for a while but will not go if the NW is not an option.
Dialogue between Section NW and the board and stewards is the answer, NW can then appoint their own stewards within their section to control the behaviour.

This is one we should just take on the chin to be honest.
The club would have been pressured by the police to do something otherwise, the club would face a hefty fine.
Let`s be honest, these kind of games with a full house happen very rarely, the last being the Rovers match 10 years or so ago.
I sit in the NW and love the atmosphere.
I`ll be one of them missing out the next match there but I`ll take it.
Look at this as a slap on the wrist and be thankful the punishment wasn`t more severe.

First of all - what other fans do / get away with is utterly irrelevant and a pathetic excuse. As is blaming the club and/or the stewards.
Absolutely impossible to search everyone and they wouldn`t need to if no one brought in banned items.
Perhaps the difference in the other examples I`ve seen mentioned over the last few days is that they`re not being chucked onto the pitch as part of the displays.
No idea if that`s actually the case but its possible. Have seen many pyros in the away end (usually) at Hampden, but never once seen anything on the pitch or running track, for example.
The fact that 2 of these things held up the game for a good 5 or 6 minutes meant there would be no other outcome than it being mentioned in the ref`s match report.
We might have got away with only paper being thrown but flares & lighters - no chance!

Can you get tickets in person / over the counter these days for the NW or is it all done online?
Not sure if there is CCTV in the NW but assuming there is then this may be the clubs bargaining chip to appease the authorities.....
Instead of a total shutdown of the NW they could offer this as a solution on the basis that, if there is further trouble, the people in question would be identifiable by their seat and their details would held on record from their season books.
Obviously not that simple in practise but just a theory....
