I`m totally frustrated by the latest hand-ball calls in connection with VAR. They should be using VAR to glean intent rather than to figure out whether the arm was in an unnatural position. For example:
I could be facing the ball sideways and if I turn to face the ball and hit it with my arm at my side, it would not be hand ball even though my intent is to block the ball. There was an EPL game this weekend where the guy in the wall stuck out his elbow just by a bit and totally with intent -- no hand ball.
Or, I could jump high for a ball and then raise my arms when landing -- as everyone does, no one lands from a jump with their arms at their side -- and the ball hits my arm unbeknownst to me and it`s a penalty. There was another EPL game this weekend where this happened and it was hand ball.
Nor could I envision how the winning Chelsea goal v Dortmund last week was the result of a hand ball (and I have no dog in that fight).
This is a real problem for the game.

First time I`ve laughed out loud at a joke on here. That`s comedy genius.

Another utterly baffling handball decision in the City vs Leipzig game. You cannot play football with your hands behind your back.

I haven`t seen it live, but the hand ball call just now against Forest late in the game against Newcastle looks like another one where the ball is headed at close range against a player who is coming down from a jump and hits his extended arm.

The Forest handball tonight was a clear penalty regardless of the handball interpretation.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Yeah, stone wall penalty. Last nights baffling var/referee decision was the offside call.
