Who do we want to win. Falkirk after extra time for me. That`ll give them an extra game to negotiate and maybe some tired legs and dropped points.....

A wee off topic question seeing as it’s halftime
Have we named a new kit supplier yet? The reason I ask is I seen a post on twitter that matchwinner were going to annouce a big partnership with a Scottish team.

That pitch must surely be near the end of its life. I thought it was quite poor when we were there earlier in the season and same tonight. It`s not quite Central Park in April, but does seem annoying bumpy, especially up the middle of the park.

Madness. One game away from Europe for Falkirk. Hopefully Inverness get the result in the semis. They`ve had a fairly straight forward set of ties in the cup. I`d have fancied our chances in their position.

As much as we hate it they were the better team and they deserved the win. The cash injection should help them stay around for a whole yet and keep the rivalry going!.

It`s good exposure for league one and the league is potentially explosive next season with raith, maybe dundee and possibly falkirk all in the same league.

Did they not change it so you had to win the cup to get a European place or am I just imagining that?

Eta.Just checked and it was changed in 2014.Place goes to next best team in the league table if the winners have already qualified for Europe?

semi final is the weekend of the 2nd last league game which will now be re-arranged and they still have the Montrose game to fit in as well, quite a few games in a short space of time with that semi final in mind too

6 days ago Falkirk fans were going in on Mcglynn etc. Now they are applauding him as some sort of hero after one of the easiest cups runs I’ve ever seen a team have saying he’s turned the club around….strange bunch.

Unless they get promoted he has achieved absolutely heehaw. Another season in league 1 cannot happen for them. The possibility of a cup final is just an added bonus.

Unless things have changed radically, there is not that much prize money from reaching the Scottish Cup semi-finals. The last time that I saw figures published for the Scottish Cup (2017), winning the cup brought 60k, runners-up 30k, losing semi-finalists earned 18k.

Even allowing for a bit of inflation, the semi today might be 25k or thereabouts. Not to be sniffed at, if you are a League One club, but no fortune.

TV rights and gate revenue are split 5 ways - equally between the four clubs and the fifth share going to the SFA.

So, while Falkirk and ICT have failed to get the Old Firm in this round, they still should benefit from 20% of the revenue from a combined crowd of say 70-75,000, minus operational expenses.

Say, the net figure after expenses is 10 pounds a fan... that`s 150K to Falkirk. You could perhaps add another 20-30k for their share of the TV rights. But again, that`s a guesstimate.

Whatever way you slice it, Falkirk`s win has probably earned them close to 200k, a small fortune to the club at this particular point in time.

That`s assuming that they don`t make it to the final. The gods have given them an extremely kind draw. So, if they do make it, that number could well more than double...

"Say, the net figure after expenses is 10 pounds a fan... "

They aren`t going to have such cheap tickets though. They need to keep both semi`s the same price and they aren`t going to have an Old Firm* semi priced at 15-20 quid. Last year I think it was £35 (£25 concessions) for the North and South Stands and £25 (£15 concessions) for behind the goal, with a small number of Family section tickets.

Remember, I am talking about a net figure. Expenses at Hampden (stadium hire, security, policing, etc.+++) are going to be quite high.

I had based my estimate on 50% of 20 quid. If it is 35 quid, then obviously, Falkirk stand to earn even more money.

Given that the two gates are aggregated and shared equally 5 ways in the semis and 3 ways in the final, Falkirk should confidently expect in the region of 200k for the semis and probably earn close to 400k in total if they beat Casey and make it to the final.

They don`t need to hire the Stadium, the SFA own it outright. The other costs are included in the share that goes to the SFA - I don`t actually think it states a five-way split, its a four way split after expenses and its assumed the expenses will account for roughly one fifth of the ticket revenues.

Sadly 400k merely plugs the projected shortfall in their yearly figures.

Sorry Da No 1, but you appear to have very little understanding of basic economics. Being in a position to plug a projected financial shortfall is actually REALLY GOOD NEWS!

If they gain promotion too, then they might be better able to address their underlying cost issues. If they don`t, well, their troubles continue.

"Sorry Da No 1, but you appear to have very little understanding of basic economics. Being in a position to plug a projected financial shortfall is actually REALLY GOOD NEWS!"

Their current business model is apparently unsustainable to the tune of at least 400k every season. That model would continue to be unsustainable unless they 1/ reduce their playing budget by 400k or 2/ get a windfall/cash injection of 400k or 3/ get promoted.

Obviously on this occasion, it could be argued they have had an EXTREMELY favourable cup draw which has helped them get to the semis where they will receive (if reports are to be believed) around 400k cash windfall.

They`re saying that due to soft loans etc this seasons` shortfall has been plugged So due to their excellent cup run, it looks like they start next season with that hole also plugged. My point (possibly not put over clearly enough) is they are still not being run sustainably if they are 100% reliant on cash injections or cup runs.
