Albion Rovers now standing gingerly on the League Two trapdoor, despite having a significantly better goal difference than most of the teams in the league!
But it`s still unclear who will be trying to open the trapdoor and put the Wee Rovers into the Lowland League. Extra time being played at Glebe Park after a see-saw 90 minutes that left the tie level at 3-3 between Brechin and. The Spartans.

Still baffles me that the two champions are not guaranteed to go up and the bottom team of league two gets a second chance at staying up. That rule needs to change. Both champions more than deserve to come up.

RossF is right. Where else after winning a league you then have to have a play-off to decide whether you get another play-off against a team that finished bottom of another league.
Relegate bottom 2 in league 2 and promote the winners of the Lowland and Highland leagues.

The result continues the trend that since the playoffs were introduced to drop clubs from League Two, no club has managed to come back from relegation:
East Stirlingshire, Berwick Rangers, Cowdenbeath, Brechin City.
Similarly, all the clubs promoted through the playoffs are still in the SPFL:
FC Edinburgh (City), Cove Rangers, Kelty Hearts, Bonnyrigg Rose

Relegate the bottom club, promote the winners and and have 2nd bottom play off against 2nd top. Logical.

According to Andy Kirk, the Brechin manager, the ref of their play-off match with Spartans thought the second leg game should go to extra-time when the teams were level on aggregate after 90 minutes but the clubs had received emails during the week saying it would go straight to penalties so that`s what happened. Don`t play-offs usually go to extra-time if the teams are level on aggregate after 90 minutes?

That’s how Brechin got past Alloa a few years ago in ET followed by the penalties lottery.
Then went winless the next season.
