Egy well deserved, but surely never in doubt after the season the team has just had. Onwards and upwards, full of hope and optimism for the new adventure in the Championship.

I don`t think anyone can possibly argue with that. Dave Mackay probably deserves an award, too, for the significant part he`s played in galloping through this division.

A fitting end to the season and a reflection of the hard work invested, not just by James and Dave, but also the whole backroom team and ancillary staff.
He has to be in contention for the overall award, but no doubt Celtic will get that. When you think of the chaos James inherited and to turn those players and some excellent loan deals into a championship winning team, which also went unbeaten at home all season, merits it for me.
Celtic winning the treble would probably enhance their case, so come on the Gers!!

`The Gers` can`t do anything to stop the treble.

I agree with grelin. The Postecoglou revolution at Celtic last season and has continued to advance. The big Aussie got the award last year, which was well deserved. He`s got the T-shirt, he doesn`t need another one.
James McPake is doing something similar at Dunfermline, albeit on a smaller scale, and has exceeded expectations in most fans` opinions. James deserves the overall award this year.

If ICT win at Hampden, it will be an even bigger shock than their 3-1 win at Parkhead when John Barnes was in charge and the Sun came out with that memorable headline;
Super Caley Go Ballistic Celtic Are Atrocious. 🙂

Unfortunately there is no chance of JMcP winning this award. Ange will steer them to the Treble and that will be that.

He`s probably not in the running because the voting for the Championship MOTY was done before the season ended, but if Ayr United get promoted then Lee Bullen deserves to win.

Aye, should go to McPake or Young but Postegoglu will get it simply because Rangers never showed up this season.

He has been nominated for another Manager of the Year award :-
Scottish Football Writers Association
@scottishfwa
🟢 Ange Postecoglou
🔴 Barry Robson
⚫ Stephen Robinson
⚪ James McPake
Barry Robson was appointed caretaker manager of Aberdeen in January so hardly a candidate for MOTY you would think!

Wonder what odds the bookies would give you on `Ange` ?

To claim he`s done more than Darren Young, for example, is nonsense. As someone said above, says all you need to know about Scottish Writers knowledge of the lower leagues.

I agree somewhat with AlterPar, Robson has come in, steadied a sinking ship, and led quite a remarkable turnaround, he`s got to be in with a shout, as that`s good management. Darren Young has done okay too, but there is no way in the world he will win it. McPake has led us to a great season, but let`s face it, anyone looking at that League 1 would have been thinking we should be winning it, as its a level or two below where we should be.
The winner will be Ange, his team has won the top league at a canter, he has found some good players, got his team playing fine attacking football, and there could be more silverware on the way.
He deserves to be Manager of the year

No one can argue that Robson has made an incredible difference to performances and results since being appointed in place of the hapless Jim Goodwin, but the award is for Manager of the Year or more accurately, Manager of the Season.
It would be a right kick in the crown jewels for those who have led their clubs to a league title from day 1.

Pretty much agree with everything Redstarpar has said.
GG Riva - I do see your point. However if dunfermline signed a striker in January who scored 30 goals in 15 games, I’d expect him to be in the running. So, same line of thinking.
Aye exactly. Comments like the above from DA are just a bit hummin.

It`s just as well Barry Robson`s only being judged on half a season. Aberdeen have only taken one point from their last three games.

Do you not think that might have something to do with the fact that the Sellick have already wrapped up the league? Had they needed the 3 pts, you have to think they`d have won.

You`d think the strongest available Celtic side should still have enough to beat st mirren at home ?
Before the game Celtic could still get the highest points total ever in the top league. Could finish the highest goal scored tally since 1916 and most wins equaling a record held by rangers but played less games.
You could see how important records were to our players in the last few games.

Don`t their fans boast that Celtic never play friendlies? You would expect them to play to win a `meaningless` league game.

They have lost double the league games we did, let in 7 more goals (game for game) and lost a game to their biggest rivals in the league. 😀

I wasn`t defending Celtic in any way and their fans can make whatever claims they like. I`m sure their players went out to try and win the game and their manager set them up to do so, but it`s human nature to relax a bit when there`s nothing at stake.

I was really impressed by the way our players kept their focus after clinching the title against QoS. OK, they had various records to play for but I recall that the last time we won League 1 our form tailed off in the final meaningless games. I like the winning mentality the manager has fostered in the squad.

I couldn`t agree more, eck. There are countless examples of teams who have nothing to play for taking their eyes off the ball, allowing their opponents who do, to win games you wouldn`t expect them to. The most common are those involving teams fighting relegation against those in mid table.
Both teams are trying to win alright, but the team fighting for their livelihoods almost always try that little bit harder.

FFS a wee bit of credit to St Mirren……….I’d like to think that there are occasions where Celtic and rangers don’t just turn up and get 3 points……that some days, the opposition might just be good enough to get a result……I was fortunate enough to be at parkhead twice to see us win ……..neither game was meaningless…….and Celtic were still a decent team…….I also remember watch us drawing 2-2 at ibrox……..wasn’t a meaningless game for Ray Wilkins……they shouldn’t be expected to win all the time……
