After they appointed John Potter as Technical director, Former Hibs chief Greg McEwan has joined Raith Rovers as the club`s new commercial director.
McEwan spent nearly three years as part of the senior management team at Easter Road prior to his departure last year. He joined Hibs from the R&A as head of marketing and brand partnerships and also stepped into the role of interim chief executive for six months during the pandemic following the departure of Leeann Dempster in November 2020.

There`s a lot of money being spent on the management and backroom staff at RRFC. If they do the same on the field of play they`ll be significant challengers for promotion.

It’s a strange one for me. From the outside, I’d argue that Rovers are a club with very limited potential in the modern game. Unless they spend significant sums of money to get the railway stand fully functioning, their matchday capacity will always be limited to around 3000 home fans and 3000 away fans.

There’s no scope to increase home capacity at all, so they would be relying on larger away supports to make any real money from matchday revenue.

Obviously they can hire out their pitch. But the more that’s used, the quicker it will need replaced/higher maintenance costs required. There would be no point in investing money and then having poor facilities on offer, that could cause injuries to their first team squad. I believe that they seem to have a lot of injury problems at the moment and I can’t imagine the surface will be helping with that issue.

Raith now have a managing director (Dean McKenzie), a CEO (Andy Barrowman), a Technical Director (John Potter) and a Commercial Director (McEwan). As well as a first team management team. I may have got the job titles wrong but that’s a lot of money to be spending off the park for a team that finished 7th in the Championship and have such low crowds.

Mon the Pars!!!!!!!!!!!

You could argue that Ross County has limited potential but they have survived in the Premiership because there`s been money pumped in, the same could easily apply to Raith.

As for the railway stand(s). Who remembers the wee bit of covering that used to be on that side of the ground when the terracing was wood and ash? Darkest place in Scottish football, even on a sunny day.

I don’t believe they own the pitch therefore they don’t even get the income when it gets booked out throughout the week.

Top heavy and unnecessary for a club of this size, in the league they are in
Perhaps there are other reasons why they will be paying out so much in wages ?

Is this boy from Kelty shifting his funding over? How rich is he, Raith are another level or two up from Kelty across the board.

Ep.12 of East End Tales is out now- Roy Barry!

Dene was trying to offload Kelty some 6/8 weeks ago as it was costing him megabucks, that information came from someone who was offered the gig.

What is the effect of all this on Kelty? Have they been left in the lurch?
