Manchester United will face French side Lyon in a July friendly at Edinburgh`s Murrayfield stadium. The sides will meet on Wednesday 19 July before Erik ten Hag`s Premier League side head for a four-game tour of United States. They join music artists Beyonce, Harry Styles and Bruce Springsteen in playing the Edinburgh venue this summer.
Both sides last played in Scotland against Rangers at Ibrox, United in the Champions League in 2010 and Lyon in the Europa League in 2021. The two teams last met in 2008 in the Champions League last 16, with United winning 2-1 on aggregate before going on to beat Chelsea in the final in Moscow. Laurent Blanc`s current Lyon side sit seventh in Ligue 1, while United are fourth in the Premier League.
United football director John Murtough said: "With a 2pm kick-off during the school holidays, we hope many families and young fans from all over Scotland and the UK will be able to travel to the game."

I`d imagine there`ll be quite a scramble for tickets, with Pars fans particularly well represented. Man U are probably the most popular English club among our support, although they have all been a bit quiet since Fergie retired. I remember posting on here that United had missed the boat, not once but twice, by failing to secure the services of either Pep or Klopp.
The scorn and derision that provoked.....

Mental prices. Just had a look at the presale and the cheapest ticket currently available is £51! Cheapest ticket being £33 but none currently available in the presale.

The SRU will do well out of it but where`s the benefit for Scottish football?

Did Fergie not promise to bring a Man U team to EEP many years ago when we were in bother ? Or am I making it up ?

On the prices, yeah they’re on the expensive side, was £85 for me and the boy and that’s for the corner of the stadium so likely not ideal views (only been to Murrayfield once years ago).
For a decent seat it was £84.50 per ticket even for U16 and wasn’t paying that for a friendly.
All that being said, taking him to Manchester for a game would’ve been much more expensive so for the convenience, the chance for the wee man to enjoy himself and see some of his favourite players, adding that they don’t come up often, was happy to get a couple of tickets.

Man Utd can GTF :)
More seriously though, having watched Liverpool there, I’d give this a wide berth. Treated it like a kick a bout despite a full house and played half a team.
Bit of a kick in the teeth tbh

They are playing Arsenal in New Jersey on the 22nd so not sure what sort of side they will put out.At those prices u would be hoping for one or 2 first teamers, at least.

I`ll be having a party somewhere else though.

At least £51 to watch a pre-season friendly? Definitely comes into the "fleecing" category. Doesn`t count as a criminal offence because the victims are sheep and they`ll benefit from losing their excess wool....

I was at that game too. I literally was nodding off in the sunshine. Terrible game with not much effort from the players

They must think Scottish football supporters are a soft touch. I`d rather watch the Pars v Anybody than pay to watch that. At least you would be guaranteed genuine effort.

Sadly, they`d probably be right if they do, Paralex. Just watch the attendance for the game. Good luck to those who fancy it and can afford it, but it`s a compelling evidence that some folk have more money than sense.

I got 2 tickets in the £39.50 section yesterday. Took alot of refreshing and filter changing to stop getting the bigger priced tickets coming at me but got there eventually.

Each to their own. I’m under no illusions it will be a tippy tappy game but equally going to see a really competitive match I’m not fussed about.
£80 for what would be a good day out with my boy in a stadium he’s not been in seeing hopefully some of his favourite players in the flesh, for me is a small price to pay.
Complete waste of money for others i understand :)

Got my email from the Scotland Supporters Club promoting it, thought it was lovely to see the custodians of the Scottish game promoting the globalisation of the English game 🙄
