Shows how much we wanted to secure his services, out of contract at the end of the season but in there and deal done before anyone else has the chance to table their offer. Undisclosed fee surely won’t be too much, just covering the lack of development fee I’d imagine. Excellent bit of business for both parties, got a very bright future in the game imo so 3 years is massive.

Players can be “signed” outwith a window but can only be registered to play during a window. This is different for players who were out of contract during a window. They can be signed and registered outwith a window.

A three year deal is wise as you would imagine he still has room to improve? If he has a great season next year, there are bound to be bigger clubs sniffing around and we would have the compensation of a decent fee, with two years still left on his contract?

I suspect we are now seeing the benefit of having a properly-remunerated, experienced chief executive in charge of the day-to-day running of the club and that is in no way intended to be a criticism of Ross McArthur who guided us through Administration and its aftermath and was instrumental in bringing new investment into the club.
Overnight it did occur to me that the signing of KRH must have had a significant impact on the manager`s playing budget for the new season. I hope this doesn`t mean other areas of the squad which need strengthening might suffer.

Listening to JMcP`s interview about the signing it seems that this was a possibility from the moment KRH was brought in on loan. I wonder if this is the plan with all loanees now - it`s almost like a trial period? If so, it`s a new approach because under previous managers loanees have returned to their clubs with no attempts to sign them that I can recall, although I don`t think any have been as impressive as KRH.

That`s a great signing. Getting the likes of Hosler , Todd and Edwards signed up is some achievement and someone must be investing money in the club. I know they might all be sold at some point for healthy profits and the board/investors will know that but already starting to look like we could have a very competitive championship team next season.

Releasing O`Hara and Todorov would have freed up some funds for KRH to sign. I`m sure we will be fine, as long as season ticket sales continue to go well and that we get decent crowds in the season ahead.

Superb signing. Don’t for one minute think that we would be signing him at the expense of ensuring we have a strong balanced squad. McPake will know what he wants in his squad and what that is likely to cost.
This signing is also likely to have a positive impact on season ticket sales and merchandise as you can tell by this thread it has helped the feel good factor around the club at the moment

Dom Thomas was made permanent following a loan. Probably not many other loans that we would have wanted to make permanent, up until this season. It’s probably fair to assume that the likes of Donaldson last season was a loan with a view to him staying long term, if it had worked out.
That obviously can’t be done with all loan players. Some of the parent clubs will hope that the player can progress to their first team - Mochrie for example, he’s rated highly at United.

Under Ross’a stewardship we had far greater marquee signings in the championship previously. Banks from Palace, Clark from Rangers, Morris and Cardle etc. all far bigger names than Kane.
KRH good prospect but only that. He’s hardly played a senior game. I was talking to a 1st team scout from St Mirren who said they’d looked but nowhere near ready or good enough, only his and the clubs opinion. I’d think it’s true though as no offers were obviously made even from low level PL teams.

We signed him from the English Premier League and was a Scotland Under 21 international having played senior games up here. No comparison between the levels.
He might not have been a a success but KRH hasn’t even had a sniff elsewhere, for what it’s worth I like him but he couldn’t even get in our side until the last half of the season. There’s a reason he’s signed and not just goodwill, perhaps no other offers

Banks was a loanee, not a signing. Clark from Rangers? If you mean Nicky, he was signed from Bury wasn`t he?
Have we ever paid a fee for a player who was a loanee? I think that`s what distinguishes KRH`s signing. The point I was trying to make was that it sounded as if J McP had targeted KRH as a young player to take on as a loanee with a view to assessing him as a potential signing. Maybe not.

Again, we did this with Dom Thomas. It’s not actually a particularly unique set of circumstances. The main reason it hasn’t happened with us recently, other than Thomas, is because our loan players were poor. I’m sure we paid a fee for OFW after he was here on loan as well.
A lot of players we’ve loaned were released or sold by their parent club shortly after and we didn’t sign them. Donaldson, Ambrose, Afolabi, Harry Cochrane, Malaury Martin, Anthony McDonald, Fraser Murray, Kerr McInroy, Ethan Ross. So it’s not as if there’s not a chance to sign them, either the club or player just didn’t want it to happen.

Explain what Hosler is achieved at age 20 to get so excited? Games, goals? Clyde in league 1? Really looking forward to why you think he’s top signing? 5 players from the B team on bench for Rangers early in the season, he wasn’t
I’ve said he’s a potential talent but that’s it.
We are not Rangers. Or anthing remotely close.

KRH is already one of those special players who can light up a game single-handedly. Before the crucial game at East End Park against Falkirk, my first question was, "is Kane Ritchie-Hosler playing". We know how good he is and how good he can become.

You have got to think that a small proportion of the Kevin Nisbet dividend would be provided to top up the manager`s transfer fund.
I doubt that the board or James McPake would have sanctioned the KRH signing if it jeopardised the possibility of strengthening the side elsewhere.
At least two months ago, there were whispers that KRH would be signing. So, this would all have been discussed and debated in the boardroom long before the season ended.

I think the owners and board see this as a win win situation, where maybe a little more investment in a good young player that is revered by most of the fans can in turn potentially earn the club a nice windfall in a future transfer while reaping the benefits of his progress by helping to team to succeed

If someone thinks KRH isn`t a solid signing then they should be worried about the rest of the team!
I`m not suggesting he`s a wonder-kid but he`s a good player and one who seems like he`ll only get better. The big thing for me though is he has a smile on his face.

I`m delighted to see KRH again in a Pars strip, but I have a sneaking feeling that Otoo will go further in his career. Otoo has quite a bit of skill, and also the build to play at the top level.

According to KRH`s latest interview on COWS he is pretty pally with Otoo and has been telling him he should sign for the Pars too...

Then we could have KRH and Otoo too (as well like). Yes but seriously I would consider Otoo a very good prospect and if we had the chance of signing him that would be great.

We have come far in 12 months to be able to attract good players. I am sure Kane will get better. I have no doubt he had other offers so credit to the club for getting him here. There is benefits both ways. He is only going to get better. Its fair to say he has just broken into tge first tesm, but if you turn tgat around you could say he took his opportunity when it came. I think he is a much better player than Dom Thomas and wants to be here. That scores him highly in my book.

Think everyone on here apart from 1 person agrees that he is a brilliant signing. Looking forward to seeing him play next season.

I would assume it is a 5 figure fee with a decent sell-on for Rangers at 20yrs old he can comfortably cut it in league 1 with bags of potential, the championship might be the peak of his talent. There is only a small amount of risk in this deal. Arguably the same amount of risk with any signing. Given his age and the fact he is settled it is a good deal.

No doubting he’s a talented player and it’s fantastic to have him signed up for 3 years. Genuinely think he’ll kick in and have a great career. Got potential to make us some very good money, if we can’t progress at the same rate as him. The fee paid will be tiny, most likely just a sell on %.
Kane was a very good fit in the squad last season. He seems quite modest and level-headed. Kind of guy that just gets his head down and works hard. He’ll do everything he can to help the club and his teammates during his time here.
The manager and coaching staff seem to love working with him, his teammates seem to love him and he was clearly really enjoying playing for the club. It is fantastic that we got this sorted so quickly. He can enjoy his holiday now and come back for day one of pre-season.

FWIW I`m thrilled he`s signed for us. He`s only 20 and to see a glaringly obvious talent wanting to further his career with us and trusting our management team to help him progress is brilliant.
How anyone view this as a negative is utterly beyond me.

It is a net positive transfer unless the fee was 6 figures and there is no-way that`s the case

Think it’s an excellent signing and caught me by surprise, thought we’d have difficulty securing his services with other suitors interested but testament to the manager, board and those fans that gave him such a welcome.
We just need to be mindful not to put too much pressure on him, he’s 20 and the Championship is a big jump in standard to what is League One.
In saying that I don’t think the environment around the club at the moment couldn’t be any better for players like Kane to come and thrive.

Even if you disregard his current and potential ability, it`s worth noting that Kane is a fans favourite amongst the younger fans. My son and all his friends love Kane and desperately try to get his signature each game. We saw the reception when he left the pitch v Falkirk. We all had our favourite pars players as kids, but maybe that`s been missing for the younger crowd the last few seasons. I think we`ll see a lot of kids going around town with Ritchie-Hosler printed on the back of the new strip, which is great for the club and building the future fan base.

Wasn`t his debut the sub appearance against Peterhead when we drew 2 each? Would never have guessed he`d be in this position from that performance.
Should be fair warning to any of us that judge a player on a few minutes of play.

Think it was, we were 2-0 up if I recall and we brought both him and Robbie Mahon on and ended up drawing.

Aye. Could see he had talent but got caught in possession which led to their equaliser from a free kick if I remember correctly

TBH, I don`t think anyone at all has been negative unless I missed something. One person isn`t as exstatic as the majority but I didn`t think his post was particularly negative.

Im getting a wee bit concerned we might put a bittoo much pressure on him with our high expectations of his obvious talent.
I hope he gets off to a good start and stays confident.

With the amount of letters in his name if the kids are all getting his name printed on the back of their shirts it will be a profitable transfer in no time.😀

I`m fairly happy with his signing, seems like a good guy, obviously fits in well in the dressing room, and seems to work hard from what I`ve seen on the pitch. It has been good to see the fans really take to him here too.
There were times in games where things did seem to pass him by, or he went missing, and his final ball often led a lot to be desired as his return of 3 assists shows, but I think with coaching he can get better.
It will be interesting to see how he gets on at a higher level though, hopefully he will rise to the challenge.

He is a work in progress, and seeing how much mcpake brought on Todd, McCann etc this season, a full pre season with KRH I`m confident will see him only get stronger. He started to add goals at end of the season, so the improvement was coming. Happy to have him here
