That’s some detour to end up here!
I thought these sort of deals would generally fall over due to work permit rules etc?

I`d imagine any club looking to trial players with a view to signing them would perform all the necessary checks first so as not to waste both parties` time.

This is the kind of signing I still get irrationally excited about - an unknown foreign player appearing out of nowhere.
The first `unknown` foreigner to sign in my pars supporting lifetime was Kozma - so perhaps I have unrealistic expectations because I still expect every signing like this to be like Kozma.
Unfortunately there have been far more Duarte`s, Edinho`s and Drizic`s than there have been Kozmas!

you can check if the player qualifies automatically or if he has a British passport but if the answers to either were no, assuming he was good enough you would go through the appeal process and the costs involved, it isnt a 100% guarantee although most players seem to get through. after all that there is no set timescale when the process would be completed, could be a week, could be a month or longer.
we need a centre half but this is a very random one.

What about the one that never happened - Taribo West?!!! According to wikipedia he`s now a Pentecostal preacher. Wasn`t he seen at a Pars` match when the rumours were swirling around?

The mad hatter wanted to back to Nigeria periodically to work at his church instead of on his football.
Great Champ Man bosman signing mind.
Ep.12 of East End Tales is out now- Roy Barry!

Duarte rented a house next door to my cousin
He used to watch Duarte and his daughter, who was about 4 at the time, kick a ball in the garden
He said we`d have been better off signing the bairn

I never saw the `glorious` chico filho. But Duarte was horrible...I`d argue Edinho was worse. Drizic definitely the best of the 3 I mentioned.
I`d also forgotten about Marinus Dijkhuizen - stinking.

Lucky you - and I couldn`t spell his family name !!!
Didn`t impress at Cappielow - that`s an understatement.
If I`ve got my bearings correct I believe he had a spell as a Man.Unt. youth coach under Sir Fergie.

In his pre-match interview on COWS the manager seems happy with the squad as it is.

:)
I seem to recall he had a trial with Killie who decided against signing him before he came to us.
Although born in France (assume ivory coast by parents/grandparents) I hope we are using Bambas story to sell the club to unknowns from anywhere. He went on to much bigger things after leaving us, playing at the AFCON, world cup, and at a higher level in multiple other club leagues. His time here was important in his development.

I`m fairly sure this is a rumour that will peter out into nothing - nothing has been reported in a local source, right? It`s all from sources closer to the player than the club.....
