Pleased for him. Gets a lot of stick but rarely gets played in his best position while boys like Rashford, Bruno can play poorly regularly this season without criticism.

Connsidering the fact that he`s been treated appalingly, Scott McTominay`s attitude is exemplary. After he scored the first one, he didn`t hang about to celebrate, he went looking for the second. And his comments on match of the day showed a real commitment to Man Utd despite being sidelined and only brought on with minutes to go. Great guy to have in the Scotland team. Hope Ten Hag realises that his job is hanging by a thread and that McTominay has given him some breathing space.

When was he treated appallingly? The last few times heās played for United heās been terrible. His attitude is always exemplary but heās been off form. Ten Hags job is safe, heāll see it through.

He gets played in the wrong position, he gets dropped when other players who are in worse form continue to play and he ever complains or looks to move away. Fair play to him and getting his eye in for the Scotland games too.

If wikipedia`s up-to-date he has only made 6 appearances for MU this season and scored twice. As these were in yesterday`s game the `appearances` must include coming on as a sub. How many chances has he had to show he`s `terrible`?
He has also made 6 appearances for Scotland in 2023 and scored 6 goals.

I donāt think he is treated badly at all. Heās the consummate professional and yes he never complains but I know heās highly rated by Ten Hag and thatās why a significant offer from West Ham was turned down in the summer. Getting played in the wrong position is interesting as it wasnāt long ago that the talk was long term heād be a centre half, he even played there for Scotland. Heās a terrific player on his day but when heās off it heās woeful. His game is about graft so if heās having a bad game it generally shows up his technical ability, poor control or bad passing. What is his best position? Clarke plays him in an advanced position to great effect, yesterday was more a āall hands to the pumpā approach with 10 mins of totally frantic football. His previous start for United was further up the field supporting Hojland and sadly it didnāt work. Heāll get his minutes, he played 39 games last season which tells you heās rated.

Reading the comments on the you tube highlights of tonightās game there are still many who think he is rank rotten. He could have had a hat trick tonightā¦
He is no Beckham or Ronaldo and at 6ā4ā can be a bit laboured getting around the pitch. I donāt think he is great as a holding midfielder but played further forward he will score goals as he has done with Scotland and Man U.
He was berated for his performance against Newcastle, mind you the whole team were rotten. Tonight they played their best game of the season and McTominay produced the goods.

McTominay when played further up the pitch is a good weapon to have. The fact he pops up with vital goals and on the end of chances is no coincidence. When you have HĆøjland alongside him looking like a lost wee laddie (what was it they spent on him? 60 million? 80?) and you have Bruno Fernandes strolling around putting zero effort in, it`s hard to understand why United fans have it in for McSauce. Then you realise that they are Man Utd fans and it all makes sense.
In terms of McGinn, he was indeed excellent against City but the entire Villa team were to be fair. It was like a game of attack v defence, where the defending team are clearly not up to the same standard as the attacking side but are hanging on for dear life. Hoofing it out the park, jacking it clear, giving the opponents the ball back as soon as they manage to scramble it clear, etc - all the things you normally associate with a Man City game. The difference this time is that it was Man City doing the defending. If you didn`t watch it live, try and catch highlights. There was a period of about 20 minutes where every player bar Emi Martinez was in the City half and they had two banks of five virtually across the 6 and 18 yard lines. Haaland had a double chance at 11 minutes in then City didn`t have another effort on goal until about the 78th minute. It was a truly dominant performance.

City have lost all 4 matches that Rodri has missed this season and they have conceded 17 in 15 games, which is their worst defensive start since 2009.It could have been worse as Villa should have had more.

He is still their top league goalscorer this season.
I thought Craig Gordon looked pretty solid in the Hearts game today.Good to see after his terrible injury and would be great to have him back in the squad.
Unfortunately for Kevin Nisbet any hopes he had of going look over as he has a bad hamstring injury and could be out for the season.Doesn`t seem to have had much luck recently.

Gunn should keep his spot, Gordon is a great backup to have though. I`m genuinely perplexed at how little United fans respect Scott. He`s not the most talented but he does the work time and time again

I agree but still in our top 3 keepers if fit and good experience to have as well.He has served us well over the years and could be a good way for him to go out.He can`t keep playing forever at the age of 41.
