Not to single a player out but I’m almost convinced he’s not a footballer. Is that what panic buys gets you? He looks miles off it in every aspect!

Yes, I also thought he did OK for just his second game. Ewan Otoo stood out for me. If only we could have had some penetration up front. We really had no goal threat and after a while lost concentration in defence.

He shouldn’t be in the first team this soon. McPake has failed him in my opinion.

Last week Hamilton could’ve played CB or we could’ve played 4-4-2 same today, this constant idea of playing 3-5-2 and playing players out of position is the issue.

We took O`Halloran who was about the only one making an effort,Allen should have been hooked

Moffat was the only one that looked like trying to create something when he came on 😂

Hamilton - shocking display from our captain today.
Chalmers - worst I think Ive seen him play, was awful.
Allan - League Two player
McCann - no idea why people were moaning about him coming off, headless chicken that cant finish his dinner.
MOH - at least he tried to create openings.
Deniz - couldnt do anything about the goals, untested elsewhere.
Edwards - when did his deliveries become dreadful? Was the only thing he had going for him in the past!
Comrie - kept running into dead ends, no end product.
Summers - send him back to Celtic now.
Holmes - actually looked alright for the limited time he got!
Otoo - meh, how a CB gets MOTM after a 3-0 defeat is confusing.

I’ve been saying for years these players are dross and I get called negative etc. you can’t defend these guys now.

They have been found out. That team today was on paper the worst team we have put out since Grant and maybe even including Grant.

Agreed. He came on and made a horrendous midfield no better. He`s a trier, to be fair, as is O`Halleran, but there was zero end product from the play of either of them. Strikers are expected to create chances and score them. Worse still, as a unit they offer no protection to the makeshift defence who were left exposed time and again. It's totally unfair to be criticising the likes of Benjamin.

Because he isn’t good enough and is a new signing so is allowed to be judged?

His positional sense was terrible, his passing was poor, his decision making was poor and he got absolutely rinsed for their 3rd goal…..

da_no_1, not sure if you`re defending him or not but you might remember when Falkirk went down under Hartley they brought in several players from down south that their scout "Mitch" had identified - including the captain of the Chelsea under 23s who everyone assumed would be decent given that fact and the team he was at. He, like the others they brought in from England, stunk the place out. There`s a massive difference between English under 23/21 or PL2 football and even Scottish Championship football.

OzPar, I think a back three with two left backs (one known for bombing forward at every opportunity!) would struggle to keep.a clean sheet tbf ;)

Trust me, despite what Berkey and his gang may have you believe, I`m not defending anyone after the last 2 games. I might not scream abuse at the players at the end of the game or smash my keyboard while pretending to be at the game, I`m still utterly pissed off with everything to do with the Pars right now. I want these guys to do well, I felt after last season we were building something really good. There was a real bond between players and fans, it hadn`t just been success due to money being thrown at it, it seemed to be a good mix of good quality young players and experience. The fans loved it. The players loved it. The season started and we were competing well in the Championship up until December and the injury crisis deepened. Ever since its been an absolute disaster. I don`t know what the answer is. The manager/BOD have not dealt well in the transfer windows to deal with injuries. Now we`re stuck with a tired looking dispirited squad lacking in confidence. I hate it when the only answer we look like having is to sack everyone and start again.

But.......supporting the Pars can be really ***** at times but I wouldn`t have it any other way ⚽️⚽️

The U21/23 route came a cropper at this level before with Hartley at Falkirk and even Stubbs at St Mirren albeit they brought in a lot more than one or two before they were found out.

Trying to be positive in thinking that both McPake and McKay were more than decent centre backs themselves and would know what to look for in a player in that position so hopefully just a bad start however i'm also thinking along the lines of Ross Graham being thrown in at deep end again in struggling team shipping goals cannot be great for him, especially with the midfield 'cover' in front of him....

Yeah he looks a bit of a disaster, a dogs dinner of a signing which we are already having to rectify by getting someone like Ashcroft in and having to pay towards both their wages! A perfect example of buy cheap buy twice.

Just one of a number of missteps were taken this season unfortunately, at least he ain’t here next season…..

I think taking him off back fired because we lost Hamilton in the middle of the park and became less dominant there, an area we had bossed in the first half. Other players were booked also by that clown of a referee, but they weren`t hooked.

Bad decision by Mcpake in my book.

Sam Young on the bench would have been a ready-made replacement. Either that or put Otoo in at the back. Felt we lost a lot in midfield in the second half, but one lapse in concentration has done us.

I think taking him off back fired because we lost Hamilton in the middle of the park and became less dominant there, an area we had bossed in the first half. Other players were booked also by that clown of a referee, but they weren`t hooked.

Bad decision by Mcpake in my book.

Agree. Benjamin made mistakes but the lineup and positions all made sense in that first half.

Another disgraceful thread, the boy did good, why don’t you recognise that and actually support the player instead of rubbishing him.

Good point made. No need to drag him through the mud. Get behind the boys and support us till the end of the season

Here we go again .. another lets slaughter some one for the dismal overall performance post

At least Chalmers will not get the blame

Benjamin did ok did most things right and if we give him time will be an asset to the team .. and on the day was probably one of our better players

We could easily have won that in the last 10 minutes .. but its the in between bit that is worrying

We are forever shaped by the Children we once were

He was a defender against a team that sat in and tried to time waste even at 1-1. He’s not looked like he’s capable in the games before that against better opposition.

It’s fine to say young raw loans with zero first team experience are not up to it in our first team and look out of their depth. Mcpake or someone should have done a bit more due diligence on these boys.

We`ve obviously signed this lad on the evidence of his "highlights" reel sent to the club, as he is absolutely honking. Hopefully get some real defenders back quickly 🤞

The boy clearly isn’t ready for this level and it’s lot his fault he’s been flung in out of his depth. The blame for that lies at East End park.

It certainly isn,t the lads fault , its pretty clear he is not ready for this level, whereas Walcott got through the game reasonably well coupled with his goal

Benjamin got subbed because he was almost certainly going to get a red, lucky to only get a yellow for the tug in my opinion.
Lost a real leader in the middle when Hamilton moved back because he was holding Otoo and summers up.
Summers has been disappointing since returning from injury and no doubt would be improved by Todd beside him and KRH wide.
I fail to understand why the loss of 8-9 first team players is not considered by some on here. We still have to pay these guys wages and every one brought in on loan has to have an agreement with the parent cub as to how much we contribute.
As long as I have a team to watch and cheer on I`m not fussy what league we are in as long as we are sustainable.
Mehmet, McCann, Chalmers and Wighton all seem to be the target of critics among our support who are no doubt experts at Football manager 2024 but maybe lacking that realism that is needed.

Not sure where you get Benjamin was almost certainly going to get a red from. He only got the yellow because Otoo played a suicide pass and Benjamin took one for the team by committing a professional foul. It`s not as if he was kicking lumps out of everyone. In my view, McPake made a mistake by hooking him because our midfield was way less effective when Hamilton was withdrawn from it and, after bossing the first half, the second half was much more even, bar the last 10 minutes when we could/should have won the game.

Benjamin would have got a red purely down to little Hitler doing the refereeing.

He struggled initially against Fitzpatrick (no shame in that, he`s a very good winger) but he adapted well and a great header for his goal, hopefully he gets a bit of confidence and can kick on now

Think the boy from Livi will play once match fit though.

Very poor first half where he looked way off the pace and badly mistiming headers etc.

Came onto a game in the second half as Partick lost the battle with the officials and thier game went to pot. used his strength well to win a few battles and usher the ball out etc

He’s clearly very raw, willl be interesting to see if we get more second half level performances for the remaining games.

He is very raw indeed but has all the attributes and ingredients to be in this division, maybe the occasion got the better of him,

The problem he`s got is the from Livi looks alot better.

And he picked up a knock.

Shame for him if he doesn`t start on Tuesday

I`ll put my hands up and say I thought he should have been subbed at half-time as Fitzpatrick led him a merry dance in the first half but he gradually got to grips with him in the second half and left him frustrated. The more threats we have from our corners the better and he arrived like a train to put away that header.

Thought he was absolutely dreadful first half. Great header from the corner for his goal, which was really important and he was much improved in the second half, although had a lot less to deal with as we defended much better as a team after the break.

I think you answered yourself there. He had too much to cope with in the first half, and
Fitzpatric can make most defenders look off their game.

It wasn`t just his arrival at the goal. His execution was first class. Picked the perfect spot and buried it. Gave the keeper no chance.

Well done, Benji. You sealed the win for us today. That was a very important goal.

If you read this forum, which I am sure you do. Particularly a thread with your name on it.

He did have a lot to do in the first half, but you can’t deny that he was very poor and simply didn’t cope. I don’t think right back is his normal position so you also have to take into account he was out of position. But he was still very poor in the first half and I don’t think anyone can deny that.

Credit to him as he was much, much better after the break, and the headed goal was excellent.

Was going to sau something similar to the birdman. Great header and despite having a tough game, scoring an important goal is a trait that is most vital.

There is an interesting interview in the Courier with Cardiff`s under 21s coach. He speaks very highly of both Benjamin and Fagan-Walcott stressing how they graduated from two of the best academies in England at Fulham and Spurs. Benjamin appears to be the more assertive of the two and he says it was important they both had an opportunity to develop playing in competitive men`s football. He seems pretty confident both will prove to be assets to DAFC.

I wouldn`t read to much into that. He isn`t going to come out saying anything less really. Unfortunately gone are the days of truly honest interviews. Would be interesting to see if there was any other interested parties and if so what sort of level they were at.

McPake had worked with MFW before so knew what he was getting with him. I find it hard to believe he didn`t do his homework on Benjamin as well given how much weight he puts on knowing the character and attitude of players he is interested in. What the coach said only endorsed McPake's opinion.
