 Big Fortnight Ahead.

Airdrie v Arbroath (A) and Raith (A)
Morton away to Ayr. Games in hand.

Us playing Partick and Airdrie Ayr away to Raith......
5pm on 13th April, we will have a clearer picture but still plenty squeeky bum time.

Can’t see Caley catching us now. Honestly just happy to see us stay clear of the relegation playoff spot. If we can keep the momentum going the playoffs are very possible.

To be honest we looked like the games had caught up with us in the second half today and struggled.

We’re almost in the mix for 4th though, beating Partick next week would be one of the ‘shock’ results we’ll need to reach the playoffs.

At least it now feels like we’re safe from playoffs so only looking one way. Welcome week without a game now for us to get ready, we lacked energy in the 2nd half today.

We `shocked` Thistle at Firhill. I`m not sure beating them again would be a shock.

Not sure how the team in 4th is `almost` in the race to finish 4th.

So games in hand only counts when we have them over other teams?

No of course they don`t. They`re not guaranteed points.

I am not really sure how you came to that conclusion.

To be honest in this league I’d rather have points on the board than games in hand.

Correct. Games in hand count for nothing

Maybe because when we were in 8th or whatever it was people kept saying "stop panicking, we`ve got games in hand"

Nope. Most folk said "don`t panic half our team is missing".

Turns out they were pretty much right

This.
I can’t remember a season like this where we had so many injuries to key players.
We are like a new team the last few weeks.
Still lots of improvement needed but we look like we could win any game now.

I remember, after that 9-game run without a win, some posters saying they couldn`t see where our next win was coming from. McPake was even mocked for saying there was no way this group of players would be relegated. Since then we have played 8, won 5, drawn 1 and lost 2.

You can`t then mock people for thinking that though. 9 games without a win and staring at 9th was not fun.
Bene and Todd returning was huge, I think we all know that.
The spine of our team has returned and we`re suddenly competitive again. Its great to se. However, it was grim looking and nothing changes that.

I`m not mocking anybody. I`m just stating it as I remember it and you seem to be agreeing with it. Some of us saw some light at the end of the tunnel and have been justified in that view. It`s always the same on here; you show a bit of positivity and get stick for it for some reason.

I don`t blame people for panicking, it was bleak and we had no basis for assuming the injury situation was going to turn around. Especially when people seemed to be getting re-injured on a weekly basis.

What blows my mind though was folk calling for McPake`s head or claiming the injuries weren`t (chiefly) to blame.

I`m not giving you stick. It just shows that some people are more positive than others, even in the darkest of runs.

I think in this league games in hand count for little. No point in worrying about what we can`t control. Our focus can only be on the games we have left.

Even if that were true, which I don`t think it was (the positive crew were saying we could be OK as long as our injured players got back in time - rather than citing that we had games in hand), it is still irrelevant to the point I was making.

That point being, we are in 4th place. You can`t say that we`re `almost` in the race for 4th - even if Airdrie, who are 2 points behind us, have 2 games in hand. Especially, as we have still to play them.

Indeed, counting chickens before they`ve hatched has a habit of disappointing outcomes.

It`s quite straightforward really. Just concentrate on winning the next game knowing that, as well as improving our own prospects, we`re damaging a rival`s. It could be that, because we have so many players just returned or returning from injury who have missed a few games, we could have a relatively fresh squad for the run-in which might work in our favour.
